Welcome to the official blog for #XiaolinReanimated ! You can find project updates and other resources we provide here. Feel free to ask any questions you may have.
Your designs for Omi and Kimiko are so cute and have so much character in even the little moments of character acting! I hope you're just as proud as I am.
~Mod Chaos
I participated on the @xiaolinreanimated project!
Here's the process of my little clip, hopefully you see the full and everyone else's work here :)
Regretfully, Str0ppy is stepping down as project director. They will still be part of the project, just not at a leadership level. Please look for the clips they are animating on the finished cut!
Chaos, here, will be stepping up to fill in as overall project manager and continuing as the art director.
I look forward to on-boarding more contributors to the project this week, so please check your emails if you applied when applications reopened back in April.
If there is confusion about which email address you applied with, please DM me here on Tumblr, Twitter, or Discord so we can sort things out.
It has been a hot minute. We hope you are all doing well and are having a great start to your New Year!
We apologize for being rather quiet with speaking on the progression of the project, but we are glad to announce that things are going along smoothly! Everyone is making progress with their parts and doing what they can to help others.
At this point, two check-ins—where people share their progress on their part—have come and gone. Everyone has been able to share something amazing! The third checkpoint is coming up on May 15th!
Here are a few highlights from our contributors:
The usernames of each contributor can be found in the bottom left of each image and the respective social media that you can find them on - go and check them out!
Re-Opening Applications
As the project has progressed, and our lives outside of the Reanimated project have taken off, some participants have had to leave the project entirely. We are opening applications again through the end of July, 2023 to fill the gaps these artists and animators have left.
Please fill out the application form (https://forms.gle/W8jU5UgcmeqhVQPw8) and Chaos or I will follow up with you via email.
We understand that joining a project almost halfway though can be daunting, and one might feel they are extremely behind compared to others. So far, the community on Discord has been extremely supportive, encouraging, and helpful to everyone—regardless of skill level or experience. If you do not know how to do something, someone in the server does know, and can explain it to you or provide the necessary resources, or both. Please do not feel discouraged by your current skill level or experience. All abilities are welcome!
We look forward to reviewing your applications and wish you all the best of luck with the selection process.
Left, Xiaolin Showdown wallpaper, artist unknown. Right, Chi Creature concept by Chris Battle with Master Fung line art for scale.
Screen caps from "The Shard of Lightning (episode)," S2E16.
Screen cap from "Judging Omi," S2E38.
Various reaction images and GIFs of Master Fung.
Season two and three voice actor for Master Fung, Maurice LaMarche, commented that his favorite part about Master Fung was that he was secretly a badass.
How does one show a badass character? Small, simple movements in reaction to big actions is enough to convey this (see Dragonball Z Fight on Namek against Freiza for examples).
Despite being a talking, ghostly mask, Wuya is just as expressive as any of the other characters. Her tendrils remain relatively fixed unless she is moving or emoting.
Left artwork by Min Lee. Right artwork from Kids' WB's official website for use as a desktop wallpaper.
"Clay Attitudes" and "Clay Expressions" with character guide by Matt Danner.
Compared to the other characters, Clay has the largest line of action, and his limbs tend to feed back into that line of action; they're very secondary.
