My guess is the writers/showrunners felt more comfortable giving Emma and Regina tender/positive storylines when they were both in relationships with men because it allayed any queerness coming through. From a narrative perspective, Emma and Regina should be romantically involved. The writers and showrunners needed to actively work against the flow of their story's narrative in order to avoid queerness. When either Emma or Regina are single, this means keeping them apart or antagonistic to one another. Only when they're both dating men is it "safe" to let their relationship develop naturally.
My Roman Empire? Defently SwanQueen season 4. And that's kinda confusing because not only Emma but also Regina are both in a happy relationship this season.
oh my god yes. it doesn’t make any sense but s4 (particularly 4b) swan queen is my absolute favorite. emma is bringing regina lunch at work. they are drinking root beer together. they are using their magic to fight off random magical creatures together. emma is running around worried about regina. regina would rather die than let anyone take away emma’s happiness. emma would rather become the dark one than let regina lose the hope and love and goodness she’s been able to find. it’s too much.
I love characters who act selfishly to protect the people they love. Absolutely will 1000% hit that trope like a line of coke. I have no moral qualms about this.
fyi i just went on a vicarious breakdown through chidi anagonye so if you dont wanna scroll through a bunch of gifsets from Jeremy Bearimy, blacklist "dot of the i"
You want to learn something? I’ll teach you something. I’m gonna teach you the meaning of life. How do you like them apples? Now, over the last 2,500 years, Western philosophers have formed three main theories on how to live an ethical life. Now, first off, there’s virtue ethics. Aristotle believed that there were certain virtues of mind and character, like courage or generosity, and you should try to develop yourself in accordance with those virtues. Next, there’s consequentialism. The basis for judgment about whether something is right or wrong stems from the consequences of that action. How much utility, or good, did it accomplish versus how much pain, or bad. And finally, there’s deontology, the school of thought that there are strict rules and duties that everyone must adhere to in a functioning society. Being ethical is simply identifying and obeying those duties and following those rules. But here’s the thing, my little chili babies, all three of those theories are hot, stinky cat dookie. The true meaning of life, the actual ethical system that you should all follow is nihilism.
