i really dont want to be rude but if being called a girl makes you dysphoric why do you call yourself a lesbian? a lesbian is a woman who loves women. you are calling yourself a woman in taking the lesbian identity. there are terms for nb people who love women exclusively, you know

literally why do you all care so much about how i identify?

i do not identify in any way as a man. sure, it’s funny that i get called sir, but in the end i am not a man. i am also not a woman, but because i’m afab, i will always have some sort of connection to being a woman. because i am not a man, and i am not attracted to men, logically the lesbian term fits, doesn’t it?

me identifying this way isnt hurting anyone and i’m not taking away a woman’s right to call herself a lesbian by identifying as an enby lesbian. it doesn’t lessen the meaning of lesbian, the term just isn’t as simple as you seem to think it is.

so in the last two days, i’ve been mistaken for a guy 3 separate times. which isn’t bad! it means i’m passing well enough that people don’t even think to consider me a woman. but here are the instances in order:

1. was standing watching over the door where the head cashiers usually are. guy comes up to me and says “hey, man, don’t mind me. i’m taking a picture of something for my daughter”. at first i was like “okay maybe he just calls everyone man” but then he called me sir and that settled it for me

2. i was standing by my friend at the registers goofing around and the guy, as he’s getting his bag, goes “have a good afternoon, ladies” stops, looks at me, then goes, “oh, my bad. lady and gentleman” and walked off

3. i was checking out this older guy and he was getting mad at me for something (idk what i wasn’t paying attention) and he goes “do you hear me, young man?” and i’m like 👁👄👁 huh and he goes “sir, let me teach you a lesson” and goes off and called me a guy several times after that

anyway i’m not complaining because at least i’m not being misgendered for a girl

here’s a hot take for the cis people with trans friends:

we should not have to keep reminding you of our gender identity/pronouns. especially if we’ve already come out to you and you already know our pronouns/gender identity.

mistakes happen, i get that. hell, i misgender myself all the time. and sometimes i accidentally misgender my friends or use the wrong name.

and that’s fine. accidents happen. BUT. if you accidentally use the wrong pronouns or the wrong name, do not leave it to that person to correct you.

please, please make an effort to stop yourself from misgendering us. it’s really not that hard. it hurts so much when someone you trust with your identity uses the wrong one and doesn’t even make an attempt to correct themselves.

if anyone wants to add anything, feel free to.
