goes feral over how cocky the rat grinders and porter are feeling rn
they think they have the name (they dont), they think they can steal her domain (they can't), they think they've got the upperhand using fabian's house against them (he's his own darling man boy captain and he's crashed a pirate ship before)
they don't know they've been found out, they don't know the rat told the bad kids how they got their experience, they dont know adaine read porters mind, they dont know riz was in porter's office, they dont know whats at the bottom of the bottomless pit
Jace told the ratgrinders to stop antagonizing the bad kids because he knows what happens to teachers who dare cross them. He’s aware of his fate at this point, he was there for kalvaxus, daybreak, grix, Doreen, and even technically Aguefort and that counselor.
The bad kids may spare a fellow student, but they have never shown mercy to fucking adult authority figures.
guillermo del toro’s pinocchio is a beautiful film but my god no one has adapted that story like neverafter. you can never look at it the same way again after listening to lou wilson, a black man, explaining that he chose to play as pinocchio because it’s a story about a little boy who isn’t allowed to make mistakes. that in pinocchio's story, he is fundamentally barred from childhood at once upon a time. he must earn something that everyone else is granted from birth. the other boys get to tell lies and play and get into trouble, but when pinocchio does the same thing there are grave and violent consequences. his pinocchio is trying to understand why the world is so unfair, why the rules are so different for him, why everyone else gets to be a real boy.
and I think about it every day.
