In fact despite the many covers with Miraxus, I think it's Fraxus that has the most chemistry with each other. (God I hope I'm not being too ridiculous in English). It's possible that Miraxus is one-sided canon from Mirajane to Laxus, but not the other way around.
Laxus is in all official artwork as uninterested as possible. I mean the maximum emotion on the arts with Mirajane is a drop of sweat, not a single hint of him blushing even a little bit. He's uninterested and possibly confused. It's just not like tsundere like Gray, for example.
Even in the last chapter of the original manga, Mashima kind of hints that there are a lot of rumors surrounding him. And knowing the author's love of make absolutely everyone in pairings, I'd guess that we're really being hinted that he might not be interested in women at all.
That would actually explain a lot about his behavior. Especially since Japan is such a mentality that this topic is much more taboo than in Europe. At most in a major manga that isn't focused on the yaoi or yuri genre, there might be jokes. For example, the frame with Freed and the figurines is clearly a joke, but it reveals that Freed likes men. I think the possible Laxus/Freed canon is really hinted at throughout the manga.
I was also really touched by the moment when Laxus used the spell he learned from Freed. And to be honest, the same moment was seemingly only with Erza and Jellal in the movie, which is kind of hinted at as well.
was about to ask where the assumption comes from that Laxus may be a manwhore or anything like that but I think we know.
but if one paid attention to any of his character growth/his true character showing more and more as the manga goes on one should really come to the conclusion that this was a mask worn to assert a sense of false power and dominance.
people out there really believing that Laxus was 'tearing shit up' at Blue Pegasus, it's a bit amusing. I'm sorry (I'm not) to rob you of this illusion of Laxus being a big bad womanizer but... I mean all the power to you if you choose this for your portrayal but what we can mostly read out of canon material?
- that man would so much rather be left the heck alone and go on his missions than be involved in any unnecessary social contact let alone hook up with random people he has just met. he's been shown to feel awkward in the whole Blue Pegasus scenario, in fact, and spectacularly so.
people really be out there getting mad and wild about this lmfao.
but we love that for Laxus! makes for a softer side that's certainly charming on its own and actually goes along with his character very well.

And you are absolutely right! Laxus has really never demonstrated anything like this except for his first appearance, when he struggled to portray a domineering character. He thought it was the right way to demonstrate it, maybe it was fake, but we don't know anything about his father and mother. It is possible that Laxus was repeating his father's behavior.
Except for this scene (from where, by the way, the ships Laxus/Lucy and Laxus/Kana appeared), he never behaved like this. As a child, he was confused by Mirajane, it is clearly visible.
Once I was asked such a question in the art ASK, where answered on behalf of Laxus and I also drew him irritated and tired of the role of a daring womanizer. He's not like that
