a/n ; this is my secret santa fic for @luvwukong! hope you like this i didn’t even proofread it :( fluff for the millionth time because i am a woman of simple pleasures. i’ve never written for keqing in my life so please excuse if she’s ooc
CYNO
winter ends and the spring crocus rises once more.
It was rare that it ever snowed in Sumeru, it usually only ever occurring during Winter. Even then, it perhaps only snows once during that time period. You stuck out your tongue, trying to catch the snowflakes as they slowly fell to the ground.
You sense a gaze on you, and you subtly look to your left and notice it was Cyno. You weren’t surprised, Cyno had a weird habit of appearing out of nowhere.
“Hey! What’re you doing here?” You asked, your hands placed in front of you as you continue to watch the snowflakes fall.
“I don’t have any duties right now, so I decided to walk around the city. Then I saw you and came over here,” Cyno explained, “seems like the snow has people occupied instead of being idiots,”
You giggle at the slight insult. “Mmm…are you sure you weren’t just following me?” You teased, your full attention now on Cyno. You held a big smirk on your face and leaned just a tiny bit closer to him. His cheeks slightly reddened and he was quick to change the topic.
“I-I learned a few more jokes, if you would like to hear them,” Cyno stammered, turning to look away from you. Was this his pathetic attempt at trying to feel less awkward? You feel slight irritation at the fact he basically completely ignored your attempt at flirting. Grabbing a decent amount of snow from the ground, you roll it up into a giant snowball and throw it at his face.
“Hm?” Cyno hummed. He seemed more or less unaffected and this irritated you even more.
“Seriously…” You mumbled. Noticing your dejected mood, Cyno made a snowball and threw it at you, and he even had a smile on his face.
“Challenge accepted,” At the sight of your now more carefree mood, Cyno’s smile widened.
Cyno was quite a ferocious opponent indeed, but he purposely lost to see you keep your joyful mood.
SPRING CROCUS ; “ Traditionally crocus has been equated with joy and cheerfulness, especially yellow crocus. And because of its blooming when you need it, the crocus has also been seen by some as a symbol of hope. Winter will indeed end, spring will come again and life will go on. ” - link
KAZUHA
an angelica garden grows in my brain whenever I think of you.
It was currently snowing outside, so you and Kazuha were, for now, stuck in a room together writing haikus. Except you were completely terrible at this, feeling completely embarrassed at your lack of skill.
“Kazuha..you haven’t wrote a line either. I thought you were supposed to be good at this…” You sighed. You hoped he could at least help you. “You stuck on this too?”
“Im not stuck..a better way to put it is that I want better lines than the ones I’m creating in my mind,” Kazuha explained as he looks out the window.
“So I guess I really am just bad at this. How do you do this all the time? Its so difficult!” You began to become mad at your futile attempts to create a haiku. The limitations with the syllables weren’t helping either.
“Well, first you have to relax,” Kazuha chuckled as he watched a light dust of red reach your cheeks, “and simply look around. get some inspiration,” That was pretty unhelpful. But why waste your breath? You sigh and continue to try to brainstorm lines.
An hour of brainstorming passed and you were finally done with your haiku. You could see Kazuha staring at you from his seat, and you instantly felt bad. How long has he been waiting?
“Im done with my haiku,” you explained. You clutched the paper feeling slightly flustered at what you wrote on it.
“Alright, share it.” Kazuha seemed pretty excited to see what you came up with but you quickly rejected the idea.
“Uhm..you go first!” The slight embarrassment that Kazuha knew you felt was a little concerning, but he reluctantly agreed anyway.
“Sun and moon rejoice, birds of dawn sing songs anew, far from home with you.” Kazuha recited, a soft smile appearing on his face when he finishes.
“Now who’s that about?” You teased. To be honest, you hoped it was about you. But you knew not to get your hopes up too high or else you’d be disappointed. Kazuha smiled to himself at your failed attempt at realizing who it was truly about. Now, it was your turn.
“I want for all time, to fill the spaces between - y-your fingers and mine,” At your tomato red cheeks and ears, Kazuha could tell this poem was about him.
“I like you too,”
ANGELICA ; In the language of flowers, angelica is associated with inspiration.
KEQING
in your heart the white jasmine blooms.
Ningguang was hosting the annual Lantern Rite festival. Except this time, it was snowing. Keqing seemed to be a little wary of the idea at first. The wind could blow the lanterns away. It could be too cold. The snow could ruin everything.
This was only natural — Keqing had a bad habit of overthinking and she knew this.
So when it was time to release the lanterns, Keqing kept a close eye on everything.
“Relax..just enjoy this would you? No need to be so cautious. It’ll all be fine, I promise,” Your attempt at comforting her proved to be futile as her worried expression did not change.
You let out a sigh, noticing as the other people yelled as they released their lanterns into the sky. Turning around and facing the fence, you smiled as you released your lantern into the sky, watching as little snowflakes dropped on it.
Noticing your mesmerized look as you released your lantern, and Keqing couldn’t help but relax. She stood beside you then released the lantern too, watching as it flew into the sky with your hands intertwined.
“Maybe I was kind of wrong. Kind of,” Keqing admitted.
“You know, people say that releasing a lantern means letting go of our past selves and getting new ones. Though, me personally..I wouldn’t want to change a thing.” You sentimentally said, placing your hands on the railing and continuing to watch the lantern.
Keqing blushes at this but still keeps her eyes on the lanterns.
“Its the same with me,”
