Romance scattered throughout is totally okay! I think most/all the books I listed have /some/ romance, it’s just not (in my view) the main thing driving the plot?
(Vs when, for example, a whole bunch of unresolved stuff happens but it doesn’t matter because the main character falls in love and gets married so it counts as a Happy Ending, or the main character has side character friends who have meaningful relationships with them, but fuck all of them because they’ve got a soulmate they don’t even know the name of to rescue)
I mean obviously books aren’t (all) this extremely single-track but I would put the grisha trilogy on one side of some invisible line and six of crows duology on the other, if that makes any sense???

More book rec lists please!!! Especially fantasy with found family, and not driven by romance (ideally with as few graphic sexual scenes as possible?)

I loved the Six of Crows and a Darker Shade of Magic series SO much, and found they fit the above pretty well!
I also loved The Last Son (the Tarot Sequence, I've just started the second book so I cant speak for the whole series yet), I found the sexual scenes skippable and the romance sufficiently secondary to the found family and main plot (It does deal with past trauma/assault tho)

I can definitely put together more book recs. I can't promise fantasy with found family and not romance-driven, but I'll see what I can do. I read a lot but I stopped tracking the whump themes.
I also loved The Last Son! I have yet to read the other books in the series though.
Much of what I've read lately has romance scattered throughout but I will go through my "read" list and put something together!
