This is what's going to happen to the bracket

So, the previous bracket format I shared was insanely long and I decided to change it up a bit. I picked the double elimination because I wanted to give characters a chance to come back instead of being eliminated after one loss. I still want to give characters a second chance now, so I hope this new format makes sense to everyone :)

Why did I change it?

The final rounds would be posted on August 1st. It's too long, it would get tiring for me to run and for everyone to keep up with it.

What did I change it into?

We're going to have a simple elimination bracket until the end, with one twist: from the first round to the fourth, I'll be keeping score of which characters were eliminated. I'll pick a total of 32 characters from those rounds and do a Second Chance round for them, which means a round of 4-way polls where the winner comes back into the bracket in the next round.

Only the characters eliminated with the smallest vote differences in their rounds get that chance, and it's a one time only deal! No more second chances after the fifth round is over, since then we'd get to the quarter finals and the bracket will resume as normal until we have our podium.

(Disclaimer: the number of characters chosen for the second chance might change if needed)

How am I going to choose which characters come back?

I have an excel sheet set up with all the eliminated characters and I'm counting the vote differences that got them eliminated. That means a character who lost by 20 votes has a higher chance of coming back than a character that lost by 100. I'm picking a set number of characters on each round, and then I'll seed them into groups of four to make this as fair as possible, and release the 4-way polls to get us 8 winners that come back into the poll.

What does that mean for your faves?

I'm already keeping track of the eliminated characters! That means if your fave is losing, but by a small margin, they might have the chance to come back later on, but if your fave lost by a landslide, it's not likely (unless everyone else in the round loses by a landslide, and that's less and less likely as the rounds move forward). You can expect them back in a few weeks, the round before the quarter finals.

Okay I was talking to my boyfriend and I was worried about the bracket being too long, and we're workshopping a way to make it a bit shorter and still giving a fair shot to characters that were eliminated early!

Next round will work as usual but I'm getting rid of the upper and lower bracket because that would take absolutely forever to post (last round would be up August 1st ffs).
