i promise my taste in men has been decolonized, but i’ve always thought if i were to ever bring home a white dude it would be the logan lerman type. u know what i am talking about. the “eyebrows reminiscent of the aged out word metrosexual” “soft spoken and always looks a like he just woke up or is a little buzzed” trouty lipped, hike-enthusiast white dude that learns how to say key phrases in your mother tongue and borrows ur dad’s traditional outfits on eid morning, light skinned arab-passing type of white dude
No matter how many times you replay the whole timeline in your head, you’re never going to be able to pinpoint the exact moment it went wrong. Rereading months of text messages isn’t going to give you any clarity, or make it any easier. You won’t get answers out of his friends, or his horoscope, or the pictures he’s liking on his phone. Sometimes you have to tell yourself it’s not something you did, or didn’t do, and there’s nothing you could have done differently, and it’s not because you were too much to handle, nor is it because you weren’t enough. And then you have to just let go, because it’s all you can do.
“Sometimes being alone is a choice, not a last resort. Sometimes being around people just isn’t for you, so you find company in someone you know all too well—yourself. Call it security, call it cowardice, call it familiarity, call it whatever you like. At the end of the day, you’re the only person whom you know will have your back no matter what.”
“I began to realize how important it was to be an enthusiast in life. If you are interested in something, no matter what it is, go at it at full speed ahead. Embrace it with both arms, hug it, love it and above all become passionate about it.”
