What else did Keith see in the Quantum Abyss?

I’ve read some awesome theories on what more, if anything Keith saw while he and Krolia were in the quantum abyss. One of my favorite ones (here) is that that Keith saw visions of Shiro alive and well and that’s why he wasn’t scared in the end. It got me thinking though.

What if he saw something else though? Something worse. Instead of happy visions of their future Keith gets more flashes of their fight. He sees Shiro’s eyes glaring cruelly down at him and feels phantom pains that leave him breathless with fear. He watches Shiro rip him apart with words with a smile on his face. And his last vision? Keith’s last vision was falling, together with Shiro.

Keith wasn’t afraid, but not because he knew they would survive. Quite the opposite actually.

Let’s start with this scene:

Notice that Keith isn’t surprised when Shiro goes rogue. He’s is upset sure, but at no point does Keith look like this was unexpected. It’s like a switch has been flipped, he sets his shoulders and clenchess his jaw. The look on his face is one of resigned determination. He had hoped it wouldn’t come to this, he had prayed he wasn’t too late, but he knew from the moment he returned that it was a possibility.

He doesn’t wallow in it, he pulls the others together and takes charge. Look how prepared he is. There’s no hesitation. He’s had long enough to accept what’s happening, and now his first priority is fixing it if he can.

Side note: Notice how he insists Shiro would never give up on them, and wholeheartedly believes Shiro is not to blame, and that this is all tied to either Lotor or the Galra?

Keith claiming this knowledge only really makes sense if he had visions of Lotor and Shiro, probably as he and Krolia were returning from the abyss.

We know he was just itching to take Lotor down from the moment he got back. Now, part of that is righteous fury on behalf of the murdered Alteans, but it’s also personal. Listen to how rough his voice gets, how tense he is, when he pushes the others to take action against Lotor.

Look at his face when Shiro tells him to calm down:

That is not calm. That is anger, impatience, and fear. You can see him calculating, trying to figure out if he’s too late and Shiro has already been compromised. He relaxes slightly once everyone believes him and agree that Lotor has to go, but he’s still on edge.

From the point Shiro goes darkside Keith’s entire demeanor shifts to grim determination.

Look at his face as he enters the base:

You can see him steeling himself for a fight.

It’s not until he reaches the bottom that he realizes exactly where he is, and where he’s seen this all before. His shoulders droop, his face slackens, he’s out of time. This won’t be a fight. This is the fight.

Keith doesn’t stop though. He can’t. His voice gets soft and rough. He pleads with Shiro to come back. It doesn’t work, he knows it won’t, but he has to try.

He doesn’t even flinch when Shiro starts hurling insults, he’s heard it all before. Insteads he meets Shiro’s eyes and makes sure he knows he’s not alone and he never will be, even here.

Keith doesn’t stop fighting. He can’t give up, not if there is even the slightest chance that Shiro can be saved. So he fights and he begs and and tries so damn hard, but he knows how this ends, he’s seen it.

He’s seen it, and it’s killing him. He knows he won’t win, but he has to try, because once upon a time he and Shiro made each other a promise: to never give up on themselves, and to never give up on each other.

And in the end when the time comes, Keith still tries. He holds on tight and won’t let go, because when it comes down to it he never will.

Keith knew they would die here. He came to try to save Shiro, because he will always try to save Shiro, but he also came prepared to die. Ready to go down with the man he loves. To tell him he loved him one last time, and hold his hand as they fall through the stars, so he wouldn’t be alone.

He’ll save Shiro as many times as it takes, even from himself, and if he can’t bring Shiro back, then they’ll go together.

Guys if Lotor is half Altean

Doea that mean he’s gonna get the slipperies when he’s older?

Lol, did anyone warn this poor guy?

Just imagine him walking down the hall when all of a sudden he just falls and starts slipping down the hall.

Imagine his generals or his wife/husband laughing their ass off when he tries to have a serious meeting but he keeps dropping things and can’t seem to stay sat in his seat.

proof from S6 that Shiro is Altean (or part-Altean)

1. his hair turned fully white

when Shiro comes back from the astral plane, his hair is completely white

this is probably due to quintessence exposure, either during the time he was with Black or from Allura healing him/restoring his soul to a body

Lance also gets a huge dose of healing quintessence in S6 (6x07); however his hair does not turn white afterwards

this confirms that hair-turns-white-from-quintessence-exposure is not something that happens to everyone - canonically it happened to Haggar, who is Altean, and now Shiro too

the white hair is a huge hint that Shiro is Altean (or part-Altean) and that exposure to quintessence was what originally turned his hair floof white when Haggar had him in captivity

2. Haggar’s clone army

as shown in 6x05, Kuron was not the only Shiro clone - Haggar apparently made hundreds

since we now know for a fact that Shiro died at the end of S2 and wasn’t transported back to the Galra, this means that Haggar must have made these clones and started operation Kuron when Shiro was first in Galra captivity after Kerberos

at that point, she had no way of knowing he would ever be Black Paladin - or even ever escape from the Galra prison - so that’s clearly not why she cloned him

this goes hand-in-hand with Haggar calling Shiro her “greatest weapon” in 1x11

there was clearly something special about Shiro that made Haggar invest in him so heavily, and made her want to clone him and give him a prosthetic arm (which is a weapon usually reserved for Galra officers such as Sendak)

we still don’t have a good explanation for why Haggar considered Shiro her “greatest weapon” and S6 offered no explanation for why Haggar had so many Shiro clones

possible explanation: Shiro is Altean, and has some kind of Altean powers which were valuable for Haggar, which is why she wanted to make copies

3. Allura did the eye glow

i have {talked extensively} about this magical eye glow and how Shiro was the only Paladin we saw who was able to do this, until we saw King Alfor do it with Red in S3

in S6 we then had another Sacred Altean Alchemist do the Eye Glow, this time with the whole of Voltron

none of our other human Paladins have ever done this, even in scenes where they are shown bonding with their Lions

Pidge doesn’t do it with Green even in Greening the Cube, when she had a whole storyline about bonding with her Lion

so now we’ve seen the Eye Glow for three characters, and two out of those three are Sacred Alteans, and the third is Shiro

the Eye Glow is a Sacred Altean ability, which is how Shiro is able to do it with Black - and do it very early on in the show

4. Kuron wears Altean-styled armour when the team plays DnD in 6x03

this is more of a meta-textual one, but the whole DnD ep has a very meta feel to it

for example: Kuron/Shiro finding a blazing sword and then immediately dying, and then coming back as “Shiro’s twin brother” to “continue his quest”

also, Kuron keeps playing “Takashi Shirogane” and he’s always a Paladin

you can see in the picture above that Kuron’s armour is very similar in style and colour to King Alfor’s royal armour

since the DnD episode contains other meta hints about the show, the fact that Kuron wears Altean armour seems to be a hint that Shiro himself is Altean

you can add this proof to {all the other proof i’ve already collected for Altean Shiro} alongside {the proof that Shiro can do magic}. so for people coming out of S6 going “why is Shiro’s hair white?” and “why did Haggar make so many Shiro clones?” … here’s one possible answer for you.

IMPORTANT QUESTION

Did it take as long as it did for Keith and them to travel BACK to the castle after leaving the planet of alteans as if did to travel to the planet?? Because it took two years by space whale, and they had to travel by space whale because they didn’t have the coordinates. I’m assuming that the altean space pod didn’t have the coordinates (I think that Lotor would’ve made sure of so), so did they also take the long route or were they able to find that route with the short time? Or??? Did Lotor always travel the long route, meaning everytime he travelled to the Altea planet he’d spend two years getting there? I mean I think he can because he’s sorta immortal. Thoughts?????

Concept

Thanos and Gamora AU where it’s Zarkon and Keith???

I can’t stop thinking about this but it begins with Krolia, who is pregnant but in a mission like the badass she is, and I’m very sorry to say this but she dies giving birth in this story. BUT, it’s a badass way of birthing, and a bit gory so be warned. She gets thrown into a vat of quintessence and the overexposure of it is dangerous so she just, crawls out of the container in pain with the quintessence splitting her atoms apart. But before she dies she gets her blade out and slices her abdomen open, much to the surprise of the surrounding guards. She opens her abdomen and does an improptu cesarean section. She hugs little baby Keith to herself (by now the quintessence is killing her but not enough to kill Keith) and names Keith and then says she loves him before dying. And then Zarkon, who saw the entire thing, comes and adopts young slime covered baby and then Thanos and Gamora happens. I, personally, want this so bad

Where is Lotor? Did he stay in the quintessence field? Or did I miss the scene where he left it??? And would the exposure to the quintessence affect his disposition?? Like would he become a worser antagonist???? Also who is the current antagonist? Is it Sendak??? Is Haggar alive?????
