Summer Sunrise on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon

Shortly after the sun's appearance at the Grand Canyon, a vibrant burst of orange illuminates a few small out croppings at the top of the canyon. The vast distances within the canyon's wall produce a blue coloring in the space between. It left me wondering if the sky was truly blue.

Just prior the the entrance to Valley of Fire State Park, north of Las Vegas there is a cut between the mountains and the SnowBird Mesa that provides an overview of the northernmost areas of Lake Mead in Nevada. The red rock in the middle stands out prominently helping showcase the vast color differentiations.

At Horseshoe Bend on a day with passing storms, clouds found there way in between the plateaus and cliffs that form the landscape north of the Grand Canyon.
