You're absolutely right. They're more so in love with the idea of Stiles and what they think he should be instead of accepting canon Stiles for what he is.

I always saw Stiles as the regular human character that we as the audience are supposed to relate to and see ourselves in (kind of like a self insert) and I think that's also a reason why they hate canon Stiles

They don't like relating to the character who isn't "special" he doesn't have cool powers, he doesn't have badass fighting skills like Allison.

He's just Stiles and I actually like that about him

The one thing I hate about the Spiderverse movies is them making Gwen a teenager cause now it's damn near impossible to cosplay her without being accused of sexualizing her and being called a pedophile.

The suits are made of spandex. I can't help that I have curves. In the older comics she's an adult. Like please let me live

And the hoops you have to jump through every time to explain that you ship comic book SpiderGwen and Peter but now that's an issue because marvel aged her down to be with Miles (When Tiana Toomes is right there)
