One lightly filled bobbin of dark grey merino x fleece wool

Saw a tour de fleece 2024 post on my dash! Very keen to see what everyone spins, hoping I can work through some of the dyed merino braids and make a dent in one of my fleeces

I'm testing adding alt descriptions to my images. If anyone has any tips to make them more useful I'm super keen to hear

Wip update!
The lanolin makes it so pleasant to spin in a way I was not expecting. Drafting is silkier, but not in a slippery way?
There's actually so much lanolin in some of the locks that opening them up makes the drops of it sparkle! I haven't been able to photograph it yet but I thought I'd containminated it with plastic somehow, it's so shiny and sparkly!
Idk how many grams im at, maybe 40 based on bobbin fullness?

Test spinning is underway! It's still so greasy lol.
@mimsical-on-main i tried using water fresh out the kettle, I think it helped a bit with the grease, but didn't seem to get out as much dirt from the tips, coz it's too hot for me to put my hands in and rub out. I can live with the trade off though.
Tbh I don't mind spinning it greasy, and I'm really keen to do a true 4 ply with this, there's so much wool omg. I checked the info, it's over 3kg of raw fleece! So so so much to play with :)
I love the variation in colour through the fleece, there's lighter and darker sections and it's tickling my little gremlin brain so much. I think ive been looking for this kind of textural stimulation for a while :))

Omg thats the best thing to happen to me on this website ever. Im lost for words, what a gorgeous drawing!
You're right I'd make any crow right at home with all the nesting options available XD how lucky I would be to have such a birb!

Oooo she still real greasy folks. I even tried using a wool scour and no dice. So I'm spinning in the grease! It's such a fun texture, really easy to swing but more challenging to rejoin when it breaks
I found a fleece market day a few hours from home, and omg I had such a good time. There was so much to look at and touch and smell! I came home with 3 fleeces: a dark grey merino cross, a middle brown moorit (@milkweedman was it you who likes moorit?), and a section of piebald superfine merino!
I've never bought whole fleeces before, I'm so excited to spin it up. I keep dreaming of jumpers, but need to get started on spinning before I dream too big.
I started washing locks of the merino cross tonight, trying to maintain lock structure for semi-worsted spinning, but we'll see if that lasts, there's a lot of locks XD I'm also not sure how much lanolin I've actually removed lol, so will have a check in the morning and see.

Whoops I started
New wip, sleying the reed finally!
This is some handspun merino I dyed with onion skins! Not a lot left for the weft, so may pick a different weft yarn in the morning after a good night's sleep. I was out camping all weekend and need an easy task for the evening

Shes done! Just shy of 300m if I counted right
Next up a wash and then waiting for the next round of inspo to decide a project
New wip, 120g of English Shetland wool, dyed locally
It's very pleasant to spin. Very forgiving, very easy and comfortable to work with. Plus the colours are delightful!

Glaze transformation!
Go from underglaze on the bisque fired pieces to shiny shiny. They have a lovely resonance to them too as a bonus.
I'm so excited to make more bee style pots!

Its show drop off day here, so we had a very late night getting ready. She's definitely not finished lmao, but bound off! I even got a light block in, my first time blocking anything. Haven't sewn all the ends in but that's okay
She's bigger than I thought and I'm so so happy with her :)
