Amy Grossberg, 16, and Brian Peterson, 16, were high school sweethearts from the affluent Wyckoff, New Jersey. In early 1996, Grossberg fell pregnant. Over the upcoming nine months, Grossberg successfully hid her pregnancy from her parents. She wore baggy clothes to conceal her ever-growing bump.
In November of 1996, the moment Grossberg and Peterson had been dreading finally dawned joint them when Grossberg’s water broke. At the time, Grossberg and Peterson had been attending separate colleges; Peterson drove three hours to meet Grossberg and the duo checked in to a Comfort Inn in Newark, Delaware, where she delivered a baby boy. Within minutes, the newborn born with blue eyes and curly brown hair would be dead.
The following morning, a housemaid found bloody sheets in the hotel room and subsequently called police who discovered the lifeless body of a baby boy in a plastic bag in the dumpster behind the hotel. At the same time, Grossman had gone back to college but started having seizures as a result of not expelling the placenta during birth. Upon arrival at the hospital, it became evident she had just given birth yet had no baby.
Grossberg and Peterson would claim they believed that she had suffered a stillbirth. However, Peterson would later cooperate and told authorities that after giving birth, Grossberg yelled “get rid of it!” The autopsy determined that the baby had died of head injuries as well as exposure and suffocation but the cause of the injuries were undetermined.
In exchange for his testimony, Peterson pled guilty to manslaughter and was sentenced to two years. Grossberg also took a plea deal and admitted to unintentionally causing the baby’s death; she was sentenced to two and a half years. Both were released in 2000.

On December 8, 1993, animals dragged a deceased baby boy into a woman’s front yard in Hugo, Oklahoma. Just a few hours old, his throat had been cut and he had a blow to his head. Outraged by the callous murder, the townspeople rallied round to give the baby a proper funeral, donating money, flowers, a headstone and a casket. Given the name ‘Baby Boy Hugo’, the child’s mother has never been found.

Disclaimer
Before carrying on with this blog, I wanted to make a disclaimer. I have been very interested in true crime since I was a child, but never delved into the community. I’m creating this blog as a way to do that and to learn more about the various crimes that occur in the world today. I will try to keep posts as diverse as possible, and not just about famous serial killers (although they are extremely interesting).
This blog is in no way meant to glorify or romanticize any of the crimes I post about or the people behind those crimes. I also have no intention of disrespecting the victims and their families.
Thank you.
