I don’t do abstraction (the simplification method in this case) or environments, but those were the requirements for my FINAL!!!!!!!! artwork for my color theory class. This was really fun to make even though it’s not at ll what I usually do. I had to use multiple different techniques we discussed, such as: color harmony, optical color, additive transparency, atmospheric perspective, abstraction methods, and more.
The inspiration for this is the first time I felt free, after I finally got past my controlling Father’s wishes and drove on the highway. For context, he never let me get my license and once I got it at 19, he always tried to convince me that I would die if I drove at night, in the snow, in the rain, on highways, etc. So it was very freeing to be on the highway by myself at night. That’s why the signs just have gibberish on them. Because the destination is wherever you want it to be.
