I'm probably gonna get yelled at for saying this but sometimes something isn't a real problem in fandom, you just learned a Japanese word describing a general fandom practice and got scared and decided it meant "The Bad Ones" of that practice
#op seriously thank you for this post#i was pretty sure that was what was going on in conversations about 'fujoshis'#but wasn't familiar enough with the term to be sure -- and trying to research it#came up with So Many conflicting / confusing / racist-but-we-insist-we-aren't-racist-so-YOU'RE-the-real-racist results#fandom#fujoshi#(unimportant to the important convo -- just a personal anecdote because that's what tags are for lol:#i had never heard the term fujoshi until a few months ago when someone sent me an anon ask#on my Deep Space Nine sideblog that said nothing but 'fujoshi' lmao#googling that and discovering it SUPPOSEDLY meant 'women who like m/m content in a fetishistic way' pissed me off#for various reasons but the personal one was 'wow thanks a bunch for misgendering me random anon. i can't tell if you#just assumed i'm a woman (weird sexism / cissexism thing going on there) or you KNOW i'm trans and are being transphobic with full intent#either way fuck you)

As a wheelchair user I'm trying to reframe my language for "being in the way."
"I'm in the way," "I can't fit," and "I can't go there," is becoming "there's not enough space," "the walkway is too narrow," and "that place isn't accessible."
It's a small change, but to me it feels as if I'm redirecting blame from myself to the people that made these places inaccessible in the first place. I don't want people to just think that they're helping me, I want them to think that they're making up for someone else's wrongdoing. I want them to remember every time I've needed help as something someone else caused.

the idea that restrooms, locker rooms, etc need to be single-sex spaces in order for women to be safe is patriarchy's way of signalling to men & boys that society doesn't expect them to behave themselves around women. it is directly antifeminist. it would be antifeminist even if trans people did not exist. a feminist society would demand that women should be safe in all spaces even when there are men there.
