I saw a comment by someone on reddit who said they no longer comment on any fanfiction because of the risk of it being AI and ... that just seems like such a cop out to me, not to mention incredibly cruel to authors.

Please please please do not stop commenting on all fics or interacting with authors because you are worried about things being AI. The risk is slim, and the damage you do to authors by doing this is awful.

Writers put so much effort into their fics. For people to openly admit they still read and consume these fics, but choose not to comment on anything because of the possibility of someone using AI for their writing is incredibly selfish. You're punishing authors by doing this. You're not being moral or helpful or crusading for any useful cause - you're just hurting authors.

Ironically, by doing this, you're actually more likely to cause authors to stop writing (silence does this), and people who can't write will fill the gaps left by creating AI writing - so you're making the problem worse, not helping anyone.

If you want to support authors and writers, then SUPPORT them! Reblog work and send authors asks, leave comments and kudos, and above all don't punish people with silence.

There is so much I still want to say to everyone who supported me, especially @vorchagirl and @juleshawke. Where would I be, who would I be, if not for you and your support, we will never know. I've been out of the fic writing game for a bit, but I can still attest that even a simple, OMG I loved this comment is enough to breathe life into a writer's muse and keep them going.

Even if you think the writer won't care about the little one sentence review you have the energy to write after reading the 3000 word chapter you just finished... trust me when I say... they will adore it and it will brighten their day more than you know.

Shoutout to the dedicated cheerleaders of wips who comment on each chapter and motivate the poor fic writer to keep going you are crucial to the ecosystem

Seriously, mind the tags, but if you're good with the trigger warnings, this is a super hot, super fun read from one of the best writers I know.

I did it.

I did, I finished the first draft of the last three chapters of The Reason. I am overwhelmed, and I'm not sure who out there still cares, but if you do, here is Chapter 98 with the remaining chapters to follow ... soon. I hope you enjoy the end of the story.

I was tagged by @vorchagirl, and I feel like it's not fair because she knows I've been actively working on The Reason again.

So, here's my snippet, and if you're interested in participating, consider yourself tagged! I'm so out of the loop, I don't even know who to tag anymore.

A snippet from Chapter 98 of The Reason:

His mom had lost a lot of weight. She was no longer the round faced, plump, soft woman she’d been through Kaidan’s life. The stress of the war, grief over losing her husband, worrying for her son – the worry he knew continued – had changed her in ways he wished he could fix. There was so much he wished he could fix.

That was all Kaidan could think when his mom walked out of his room. She’d stepped out to talk to his doctors, and annoyance gnawed at his gut. They were talking about him. This was confirmed for him when his mom turned towards him and met his eyes, her arms crossed in front of her, holding herself. He tore his eyes from her and turned them back to the window. He knew what they were talking about. He wasn’t eating. He wasn’t doing the exercises he needed to do to eventually be fitted for a prosthetic. He wasn’t getting better, and he wouldn’t unless he started working for it. Everyone who had visited from the crew had told him, Shepard would want him to get better.

He didn’t give a fuck what Sloan would want. She hadn’t cared what he wanted. She’d made that clear when she left him.

And just like that, the first draft of Chapter 98 is done, and I've started 99. I think I'm going to finish the story before I post any official updates. It means waiting a little longer for the finale, but I'm on a roll and if I stop and post I fear I'll lose it.

The good news is, I will be finishing The Reason within the coming weeks.

Wow. That's a powerful statement for me.

I want to set a goal to have it done by the end of the year, but I work in retail and am exhausted on the regular this time of year. I know how it ends, I just need to do it.
