Thank you to @tinyarmedtrex for the tag! This WIP won't see the light of day for quite some time probably, but I like what I have so far. This is a Nick POV.

I pace up and down our living room. At this rate, I’ll leave permanent tracks in the carpet. My living room, not our living room. My living room. Having to wait on someone like this is torture. When you know someone is coming, but not exactly when. Like when you know something is coming, but not exactly what or when. I had noticed little signs. Just tiny inklings. And had ignored them. And then I also ignored the bigger signs, because of course I had. There’s only so often I was willing to get rebuked after asking if everything was alright, if we were alright, before I started to ignore it. Don’t rock the boat. If he says we’re fine, we’re fine. Turns out, we weren’t fine. Not according to him, at least. Fine. I’ve grown to hate that word. I feel the same old thought spiral taking laps around me, making me dizzy again and I let myself fall on our green velvet couch. My green velvet couch.

crazy how fanfic authors drop the most beautiful and gorgeous pieces of work ever, leaving you speechless and sobbing at three in the morning as you quietly contemplate the masterpiece you just read
