"There are thousands of androids at the CyberLife assembly plant. If we could wake them up, they might join us and shift the balance of power..." "You wanna infiltrate the CyberLife Tower?" "They trust me... they'll let me in." "Connor, that's sulclde." "If anyone stands a chance of infiltrating CyberLife, it's me." "If you go there, they'll kill you." "There's a high probability... but statistically speaking there's always a chance for unlikely events to take place..."

"We have to blow up Jericho, it's our only chance!" "I'll go." "What, Connor, no. You-" "See if you can help the others. I'm gonna find the detonator." "Okay..." "Don't worry... I always accomplish my mission."

Thinking today before I go into work about how I just want to see a fic that explores Connor and Hank's relationship (however you prefer for it to be portrayed) in the post-canon, but specifically within the context of them being unhealthily co-dependent upon each other. I think for the best effect, it would have to be written from an outsider's perspective-- or even, multiple outsider's perspectives, because that would be the only way for this slow realization to be shown as this growing horror amongst the people that Connor and Hank interact with on a daily basis.
Like, at first glance, you might think it was cute or something. They're clearly incredibly close and practically live out of each other's pockets. People make jokes about them being attached at the hip, or married, or just generally being life partners who found each other at a very strange time in their lives. But then this weird wrongness starts to settle in over time, because it's not just that they spend every waking hour within sight of each other but that they don't seem to function well when they are forced apart. It's not that they choose to live with each other, but that they can't live without each other and that watching their eventual reunion isn't so much a heartwarming hug as it is witnessing an addict in the throws of withdrawal getting their first hit of heroin in weeks.
And then the rumours start. People talk about those four months where pair of them went on a 'vacation' and how it seemed to coincide with the time where CyberLife employees started to go missing. Or how Hank walked out of a strategy meeting where it was discovered that Warren's forces were planning a malware hit on the system that controlled Connor's ability to regenerate himself, returning two days later a signed armistice from Warren herself clutched in a hand that's knuckles looked like ground meat. Or how Connor had somehow found a perfect transplant match for Hank's perforated lung in the middle of a hopeless firefight, and performed the surgery himself while holding off a battalion of soldiers that were knocking at his door.
Slowly but surely, people start to realize exactly what is going on between Connor and Hank, and it's terrifying.
And the fic ends with a conversation between North and Josh in a repair depot, where North is getting a new set of legs after her original set were blown off when she ran into a mine field to drag Hank out of it, risking her life to save his in a move that utterly confuses Josh. Because these two may of had their differences before the war, but after a long discussion the two had finally come to see eye-to-eye by understanding each other's perspective. So Josh knows that North will work with humans but she would never feel for them enough to actually give her life for one. But she just did with Hank, so what gives?
For a moment, North doesn't say anything, just stares at her new foot and flexes her toes back and forth. Then, she looks up at Josh and tells him, "I didn't do it for Anderson."
"What do you mean?"
"Josh... Do you have any idea what Connor would do if that human died?"
Josh locks up, his eyes wide and his jaw clenched, the horror of it all descending upon him in a single, terrifying instant.
"The war crimes alone would set our cause back a decade," he finally manages to eek out.
North nods, grim and grey, "Those two either die together or not at all, because if they were to go separately... I don't think that there's a force in this world that could stop the other from what they would do next."
Because what if we took the fact that Connor was willing to sacrifice the most vital weapon in Jericho's arsenal for the life of Hank Anderson and that Hank is willing to sacrifice any and all morals he has for someone that gave him hope for the future... and we just ran with it?

I love the imagery of Connor, previously convinced in his absolute superiority, crumbling to pathetic mess before Markus whom he previously despised and seeked to destroy but now accidentally puts on a pedestal above himself, because that's what Connor does – seeks a hierarchy in which he positions himself right below what he considers to be the top, at selfless service for which he will hopefully be praised and compensated. Always seeking to serve something greater than himself to feel a pride in this relation, but never quite ready to demolish this idea of hierarchy in its root.

After all we’ve been through…I respected you, Hank. I thought we were friends!
Oh, yeah? I was just starting to like you too! But then I realized you’ll never change! You don’t feel emotions, Connor, you fake ‘em! You pretended to be my friend, when you don’t even know the meaning of the word!

dbh androids 🤝 dbh humans: both suffering from the unfair world CyberLife had created, but blaming each other as the root cause of all their problems.

I hate dbh racism allegory because it makes people of Detroit into well-aware and intentional oppressors directly benefiting from slave-labour instead of people living under late stage capitalism where their livelihood is constantly under a threat of being stolen by CyberLife. There is really small number of people in this city benefiting from this state of affairs – majority of them are on the contrary fucked just as much if not more than androids because unlike androids they don't even have their equivalent of "Jericho" as a shelter "where they can be free" – if they're out of employment they have nowhere to go and nothing to hope for, there's no "saviour" to appear and solve all their problems, because their problems are of indifference in the world CyberLife had created where their labour, no matter how skilled, is unprofitable and therefore redundant. They're not oppressors, they're among those oppressed.

Lieutenant Anderson has been officially assigned to the deviancy case. What do you make of him?
I think he's irritable, and socially challenged... but I also think he used to be a good detective. He's an intriguing character.
