Batman Beyond Question. Okay, Melanie has an American accent, but the other members of the gang have English accents.

Now, I have two reasons in my head for this, and I want you all to pick.

I do love how terry falls in the spectrum the of respecting bruce meter in the batfamily (has none) i fully believe that most if not all the batfam growing up were fully into the hype of the bruce doing philosophy on gargoyles thing, at least at the start, but terry isnt. He just thinks bruce needs a better place to do his old man hobbies. I cant really say it in ways you havent already done but with years and years of people, writers and fans alike, putting bruce on this untouchable pedestal? Seeing terry just be a skeptic to his entire thing? God i love it. Thank you for loving it too.
Lmao yeah!! Like no shade to the others for having their phases of hero worship since they were mostly vulnerable young kids caught up in the wonder of seeing someone finally say and do all the things they think should be said and done. They grow out of it once they're able to take more agency in their own lives (become their own hero) and Bruce's flaws wash the last of the roses from their eyes (at least until the next writer who worships the ground Bruce walks on comes by and then it's back to "character development? Don't know her").
But Terry and Bruce start their relationship off on much more even footing (he's got a stable home life, is older, didn't grow up with anything to worship Bruce over, pleasing authority figures is the last thing on his mind ever) so rather than being like "wow an adult who's actually validating my thoughts on the world and treating me as deserving of respect. He's so cool with the wind blowing through his cape" Terry would see that and be like "this is sad. He's sad. I better be getting paid for having to witness this shit. I wonder if there's a slur for old white men I can call him" bc disillusioned? That would imply he bought into an illusion in the first place

Just realized Terry's never witnessed Bruce do one of his 'stand on a building's edge and wax poetic about Gotham's cruel cycle of justice and betrayal' things and I think he'd barely restrain himself from saying "ok peepaw let's get you back home" at the end bc sometimes it's better to just let ppl have their moment

Dana Tan Batman beyond
To start this I’m pretty neutral to Dana, I don’t love her but I don’t dislike her.
Dana is a fantastic iteration of a Batman love interest. She was with Terry both before and during his start as Batman and as Terry got more and more distant she did the same, as she should.
Terry is going through a ton during the run of the series and Dana puts up with all of it. She and Terry have spats and have been on breaks but through it all she stands her ground. Dana doesn’t just bend to Terrys every will and they both try to communicate and stand by each other through everything.
Dana is finally written as a love interest that has her own life and needs and it’s refreshing especially from a two thousands cartoon.

Disability thought of the day: I'm sad that I can't draw much anymore bc now my art can't really grow. It's been almost four years since I stopped drawing all day every day. My style, technique and mastery could've evolved and improved so much by now, but I'll never get that chance. Drawing was supposed to be one of my constants in life. I still identify with it and I was always excited to see where the next year would lead me, but a couple doodles last night has made my wrist achey today. I have thing that take priority--work, driving, cooking etc. So drawing has been forced to fall to the wayside. I'm glad I've gotten into writing and all, but I miss what I had and what I thought I would have

#exactly. theyre just two guys#a high schooler and his 90 something year old buddy#and that they work together so well BECAUSE theres no greater role bearing down on them from @greekesctasy
terry is a high schooler on his first job and bruce is his 80yo inexplicable work best friend
I think the reason I like Batman Beyond so much is because it is so much cleaner than the current main continuity. There is so little drama between Terry and Bruce (I know the comics ruin this, and don't even get me started on Epilogue, but I'm talking about the initial base premise here)
Like yes, Bruce has almost irrevocably fucked up his life, so that sucks. But it's clean start for them both.
Bruce is not Terry's dad, Terry is too old and jaded to feel that way. But he is his employer/mentor/wise older male figure. And Terry has seen Bruce at his worst, a once powerful and dedicated man, now sad and isolated through his own actions, so Bruce can't really let him down if Terry doesn't expect anything from him.
Terry is not Bruce's "son", he's not relying on Bruce to provide anything except advice and medical aid, and Bruce has had literally decades to dwell on all the ways he fucked up with the others. So even though he is still a mess, he is going into this relationship with eyes open to all his faults and will try not to make the same mistakes again.
They do care about each other, and will fight for each other, but Bruce doesn't have the added possibility of failing Terry as a father, and Terry doesn't have the added expection of Bruce living up to what he needs in a father.
