Symbolisms in the world of fairy tales: the forest
Forests have often been the basis of a fairy tale. And we've already said that the forest is not just the forest. In all fairy tales ,and strangely enough in almost all the world, the forest represents the same thing, life.
Take Little Red Riding Hood, it's the reason why she has to go through the forest to get to her grandmother and meets the wolf.
Tumblr media
It's the reason why in almost every story children get lost in the forest. Thumbelina gets lost in the forest, Hansel and Gretel get lost in the forest, Snow White gets lost in the forest, Rapunzel is hidden in the forest. Sleeping Beauty in Basile's version is asleep in the woods.
it's always the forest. This is because, once upon a time, when we were not yet very "civilized", one thing that was really done was tests to pass. In tribal times, we sent our children into the forest with a task: you get a bow and arrow and you have to come back, for example, with a wild boar. (or at least a dead animal). You had to go hunting. And if you come back with a dead animal, they would say "Enough , you have grown". Like the Spartans, for example. Over time this has evolved, and has become more and more symbolic. Little by little it transformed into something, first symbolic, then, even, into a story. The story of when, once upon a time, children had to face the forest alone. To prepare them for life with these stories.
Tumblr media
One of the most beautiful examples is this buddist tale. The Siddharta (Buddah) was this child who lived completely peacefully in this family ,so wealthy and so powerful, that it allowed him to keep the world hidden from him. He spends his whole life without ever seeing reality.Everyone inside the building is not allowed to grow old,and if they get old, they are fired.Everyone was not allowed to have disabilities, otherwise they are thrown out. If you lose an eye you are canceled, you can no longer work there. If you have a cut you cannot show up at work, and you cannot cut yourself at work! The blood must never be shown to the child, and neither should violence. And so the child grows up seeing people all young (or at least adults)all beautiful all good all good, and he never sees anything wrong. everything is rich everyone is well off. One day ,while he is being taken inside a carriage from point A to point B, halfway ther's a problem with the carriage. He has the opportunity to peek out the window ,and sees the people outside. the people are made up of old people, beggars, the starving, the sick.
And he had never seen this before... and was shocked. After his encounter with suffering, Siddhartha left his palace and his family at night, and shed his noble clothes to dress poorly.
This is just the beginning of the WHOLE Siddharta's story, hope I explained it well so far♡

Simbolism from the disney's movie:
Snow white. Part 3.

Now, I want you to look at this painting.
Yes, painting, the scene you see here was painted with a tecnique called Rotoscoping and cel. Rotoscoping is a technique used by animators to make characters move realistically. It consists of tracing the images of the characters as they move frame by frame.
Cel it is a particular acetate sheet on which the animator paints the single frame that will make up the animated sequence of a cartoon.
It was developed in the early 1900s but appeared on the big screen with Disney's Snow White in 1937.
Tumblr media
And this is water. Fucking painted water.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then a little bird looking for its mother, another symbol of purity. She picks it up and wants to help the bird.
That defenseless bird creates a parallel with her . The child whatching the movie doesn't know how fragile Snow White can be and how much she is in danger, so if you put a little bird (the same color as Snow White) the child understands "Oh no, Snow White is like the bird, they are two defenseless and innocent creatures ."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eyes perfectly white and the rest of the body dark ,so that the eyes are disturbing .When the skela is visible above the iris the eye always looks strange. Scary. Backlight not iridescent on his body.there is the shadow of the hunter on her ,the shadow makes her feel crushed,it's suffocating her. But the hunter will eventually gives up and Snow White runs away
Tumblr media
There are a thousand places she could run to right now but runs away into the forest.why? well, in fairy tales the forest is not just the forest.
the forest represents life, with its paths and its dangers.
The castle is the home, it is what has always been her identity for her, things that she had firmly held. Once Snow White runs away from a place where she was comfortable, her home, outside of her home there is life. And it's the forest. Disney kept this symbol within his film, it was not part of the culture of the United States of the 1930s, but it is the general culture of fairy tales. And they have been for more than 500 years.

Simbolism from the disney's movie:
Snowhite. bonus part.

Tumblr media
A billion esoteric symbols. It's embarrassing how much detail this woman's throne has.
Tumblr media
First, the peacock feather's represents two things: the thousand eyes (keeping eyes on the kingdom)and the PEACOCK, preening, because she consideres herself beautiful.
Tumblr media
Second, behind her there is a heraldic symbol, namely the royal family. It is not very clear what the two circles represents, but the other one is the very famous snake,an it represents represent: The serpent of Eden. I would like to remind you that this is the woman who will later give a cursed apple to Snow White, and will tempt her with the apple that will actually harm her. The connection between Snow White and Adam and Eve is very strong, the Grim brothers didn't write apple by random.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
but i want you to think about this:
the relationship between Grimhilde and Snow White.
they are princess and queen, not mother and daughter.
If I tell you that they are mother and daughter, you don't think about it. if I tell you that she is queen, that is, that she is in power, and princess, that she will be in power in the queen's place. We have queen Grimhilde who is realizing that Snow White will take her place because she is growing up and more beautiful than her. At the beginning, if Disney wanted to represent a bad relative he would made it a step-parent, because he didn't want the children to doubt about their parents' protection and care. This is also why they are not mother and daughter.
Tumblr media
The evil queen calls for the hunter, she wants what? Kill snow white. But how?As proof of the killing of Snow White, the queen wants her heart. The box is the color of the heart and it has one pierced with a knife, try guessing what she is asking for since the hunter has a knife on his hand.
but why the heart? Because that's the purest part of Snow White. Someone made a theory about the queen asking for her heart because she would eat it,hoping to become the fairest of them all.

Simbolism from the disney's movie:
Snow White. Part two.
Lesgoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, this is Snow White. How do I introduce it to you? The white doves, simbol of purity. (In middleages: simbol of love). We know she is not bad because she works as she doesn't disturb the doves. It's spring, the flowers bloom like her youth. She dressed in rags, they told us she is the princess but being a servant is her work now. her appearance has the beauty standards of the thirties.
She sings about her wishes and heads towards the well, a clear reference to the wishing well.
Tumblr media
We see the prince, we understand this from his clothes and from his horse, and it's white to match Snow White's doves.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then we see this scene. It refers to another story.
The lover who climbs over the garden wall. It is a boy in love who climbs over the wall to see the girl, she retreats to the balcony and he sings a lyric to her. Their love is forbidden and there is the parent who doesn't want them together. Romeo and Juliet? Is that you??By the way, this scene is needed to make us say "God, they are made for eachother".
Tumblr media
UUUUUH, this is is not obvious. See? There is a tree on the right, it's a cypress. Cypresses are known for being cemetery trees. It's an omen. For Snow White.

Hello fairy-body, this is TheFairestFacts, and today for my first ever post I'm gonna share with you some simbolisms from the Disney's movie, Snow White. LESGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
(this is the part one ,btw)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
First of all, the movie starts with a book. Why? It's trying to simulate when we were kids and our parents would read us fairy tales ,and the writing we see refers to the Middle Ages ,and to make the audience understand which time the story is set in.
Tumblr media
The first thing we see it's the castle. Why? This is to make us understand that whatever you are about to see is inside the castle. And the trees on the sides? It's to let us know that this we see is the forest, if a character leaves the castle and is immediately in the forest we won't be surprised.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This we see is the queen, how do we know? Nobody is there telling us she is the queen, we just understan she is because of the context. She has a crown and is in a castle, that's it. But we know she is also a witch from the decorations. We see the zodiac signs, emblem of the esoteric environment.
Tumblr media
The mirror has a face, specifically a (generic) theatrical mask. There are smokes from the bottom up,a typical witchcraft thing, and it's lit from the bottom, to make it creepy.
Now, why would someone start a fairy tale movie with the villain? Walt Disney demanded it. For Disney the villains were essential, because they are the ones who make things happen in dramaturgy. If the villain is not studied, the story doesn't work. He could have start the movie with snow white but NO! it wouldn't have been the same.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Specific designers and animators were decided on for each character, and Norm Ferguson animated Grimhilde. He was also the creator of characters like Pluto and the Big Bad Wolf, making Grimhilde the first human he animated.
THIS IS THE END OF PART ONE.
PART 2 IS NEXT WiTH SNOW WHITE♡.

Not me swapping through tumblr happily then suddenly remember that one individual that made a tumblr page named "Ask-Applewhite" and was the first person I have followed because that was the reason why I installed tumblr, but then i found out their lastest post was 9 months old so i wrote then an ask about if they quit or just not felt well and they answered me that would post again but it passed 9 months since then.
I just wanna know if they are okay and if the story will ever be finished :(
