Hello everyone! I will remain unnamed, ungendered, and ageless as the internet intended, but don't worry I'm friendly :) My weird kinky hobgoblin fandom self is too big to contain to my own mind so I've hopped back onto Tumblr to fuel the current Tolkien obsession. I've combined my blogs cause I don't need complications in my life. Ao3: @hippy_ki_yay Old blog: @justallthesquees
So we all know that Tumblr is US-centric. But to what degree? (and can we skew the results of this poll by posting it at a time where they should be asleep?)
But Yay ao3 post! Going to view the smut right now 👀

I think you tagged me in some comment but the post got removed? Something about Celebrond and a forest. What was it my curiosity is killing me lol
Yeah I made a Celrond post and I tagged you in the replies saying that I loved the emoji forest you added to your naked elf post and that I was stealing it for my Celrond post :>
was sad because a character in another fandom was treated badly as a kid and imagined that m&m were his parents instead. now i want to be able to make maglor kidnadopt children characters whose family i don't like (maybe killing the whole town in the process isn't necessary i'll try to get him to stop that)
Silmarillion concept that has me gnawing on the bars of my enclosure today: all of Elrond's parents are terrifying eldritch beings actually.
Maedhros, with white fire pouring from his eyes, taken from the jaws of death anything but unchanged. Some whisper that he's not elvish anymore, not since his captivity. They can never quite agree on what that makes him, exactly.
Maglor, with a voice no elf ever should've had, beautiful and terrible and powerful enough to shake the mountains. Sailors along Middle-Earth's west coast whisper of a sea wraith, some horrible siren that roams the beaches on the darkest nights.
Earendil, a man made an elf, a star, a maia if some are to be believed. Slayer of dragons, guardian of the void. Someone who's spent so along around the Silmaril and the Ainur that some of that power lives within him now.
Elwing, a skin-changer with a voice and a laugh that sound like they were taken from a bird's throat. A witch who lives in a lighthouse, where the animals flock and the plants grow strangely. None of the Amanyar would admit to being scared of her, but few will venture in sight of her odd little realm.
And then there's Elrond, ring-bearer, Lord of Rivendell, kind as a summer.
Well, let's just say it probably helps that no one is expecting him to be normal. Or elvish. Or entirely comprehensible.
ok.. Yesterday me and my friend @eternal-fear were watching Return of the King (1980) and after hearing orcs sining and calling Sauron "Lord of the Lash" I just had to do it.
We laugh at Sauron for not realising a golden-haired Aman elf with the audacity to challenge a fallen Maia with song can only be Finrod at this point, and conclude that Finrod's spell must have worked in part -- but I've never heard anyone ask how on earth did he never come up with the idea that Celebrimbor might have given the three rings to his three remaining family members!
So my coworker was telling me today about how his cat likes to be carried upstairs to bed (the cat will in fact run upstairs to fetch his human and make him come back downstairs and carry him up to bed, so this is clearly an Important Part Of The Routine) and because coworker has to turn out a number of lightswitches on the way, he and the cat have developed a habit where the cat sits balanced on his backpaws and rump upright in coworker's one hand, with his paws balanced on coworker's shoulder (sometimes reaching out to bat at the switches too), while they go up the stairs and down the hall.
And now I'm thinking of how I like to headcanon elves as being ridiculously, unnaturally light (walking on snow, treebranches, etc) with weight that in fact varies based on the way they're paying attention to the world (e.g. an elf can plant their feet and brace a door because they're "thinking heavy thoughts," basically; but can also run light over grass and leaf or over snow because then they're thinking fast/light thoughts; etc)...
And how I like to headcanon dwarves as being even more heavy than they look, with their broad shoulders and thick limbs and round waists, because "there is stone deep in their bones from when Mahal carved them" etc as you do, and consequently very strong and more importantly solid, and incredibly steady on their feet.
So now picture: Legolas being excited to see Gimli again after a few weeks or months apart, and lunging at him for an embrace and not letting go; and Gimli just sort of carrying him around for a while in a casual one-armed hold like that while he does whatever he needs to do one-handed because Legolas weighs about as much as mug of ale right now, nbd.
And please picture also the faces of Ordinary MenTM of Rohan or Gondor who are at this point barely used to the weirdness of dwarves, let alone this absolute batshit elf, watching them just go about their daily activities like this like it's normal.
