all goofing aside I genuinely don't understand the urge to reimagine Taylor Allison Swift as a secretly queer icon when the pop music scene(TM) is like. literally overflowing with women who actually like women. Gaga and Kesha and Miley and Halsey are right there. Rina Sawayama and Hayley Kiyoko and Rebecca Black and Kehlani and Victoria Monét and Miya Folick if you're willing to get slightly less top 100. Janelle and Demi for them nonbinary takes on liking girls. like what are we doing here. like I'm not even saying you can't enjoy Taylor but why would you hang all your little gay hopes on her.
April 28, 2024 - An unintentionally funny video by a zionist propagandist shows off some good organisation and discipline at the UCLA encampment for Palestine.
when i say i like hiking, i don’t mean “eight mile backpacking trip with special gear and an emergency beacon” sort of hiking, i mean a three mile loop to go look at pretty things and then a huge brunch after.
the thing about stark is that he is thee most adoptable son around. any father figure within a five mile radius comes SPRINTING out of the woods with adoptions papers in hand, signed, and notarized. so far stark’s Dads That Have Tried To Adopt Me count is at one (1) dwarven warrior, two (2) random nobles with dead sons (bonus points for the son who stark inexplicably is twinning with), and at least two (2) townies who drop everything to get a solid long weekend in of mentoring stark. kudos to stark’s brother (rip in peace king 😔✌️) for stepping up to the dadly plate. i mean stark may have daddy issues but he is CATNIP to dads with son issues.
One thing I love about Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is just how *aware* it is of the passage of time. Lots of other shows play fast and loose with it, sometimes having everything happen while the sun is still up.
This show, in contrast, never ceases to remind you of the inexorable march of time. Sunset always seems to come sooner than you think, arriving mid plot beat. Single episodes often cover the span of months, years, and decades. You witness a character celebrate her birthday more than once, and seasons pass quickly.
The entire show is comprised of time skips, and yet you don’t feel like you’re missing anything. You’re made to understand that life happens slowly, with major events sprinkled amongst a vast sea of days that blend into one another- and so it is that the slowness of life is what makes it so fast. It’s a genius way of writing that enables us to see the world from Frieren’s point of view.
Okay I love the little JRPG moments sprinkled into Frieren. Never anything too blatant. Just stuff like "This person who everyone literally calls 'Stubborn Old Woman' won't give us the next plot hook until we do a hundred boring fetch quests" and "Himmel always insisted on going back and exploring all the dead ends before taking the right path in a dungeon and the rest of the party thought it was really weird."
