Hey!
A lot has happened the past few weeks. This week is no exception. My disease (GERD - Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease) has knocked all of my energy out. It hasn't been this bad in years.
Thankfully, prayers were answered and I'm not having to do this alone anymore. I'm forever grateful the them and their unyielding patience, kindness, and tenderheartedness. They've helped me stay sane during a time that should be one of the hardest experiences I've had within the past few years.
Through all of this, they ignited a spark in me to focus on God, to be better, to eat better, and to even enjoy the moments of silence that we share. Nothing is perfect, nor will it ever be; but somehow, they cut through all of the noise in my mind and together we found tranquility.
You know who you are. I thank God for you as often as I think about you.
For you legends that are following for art, I wish I could tell you when I will be posting again. Hopefully in the very near future!

I am definitely my father's daughter.
I trotted downstairs to ask my dad what I should name a locale in my story. Back in the day he was a big reader of LOTR so he has a decent grasp of how generic fantasy mechanics work. He came up with a title that was really cool.
The title will never change. When I self-publish I want pieces of my dad's ideas to be in the book because to me, having those that truly love you willing to help is one of the best parts of the creative process. He has even solved some issues I've had based on the systems in place because he has an outsider's perspective(per say). It is also extremely rare to know someone is genuinely interested in something that you are creating. Gives me the warm fuzzies. ^^

Within an instant he found himself in a dark room. As Knuckles eyes adjusted to the lack of light, he remembered his father speaking of an extremely secretive place in the heart of Angel Island. Surely this had to be it. To his left was a hallway. From what he could tell this was the only path forward. Someone needed to know what he recently discovered.
Down the poorly lit hall someone stood stoically. Knuckles took a long pause. A pair of beady red eyes continued to stare unblinkingly at him; quite unapologetically at that. The other finally took a step into the light. He casually swirled a piping hot beverage as if this were a normal Tuesday for him. Knuckles wanted to shout, to assert some form of dominance, but the air had quickly been sucked from his lungs. This terrifying blend of a humble elder and a formidable foe made him hesitate to even speak. The man finally sighed,"I am sorry the circumstances of our first meeting is so... grim. I had planned for something with more grandeur, but fate has a way of doing its thing."
He stuffed his left hand into a pocket on his sweater,"since you unfortunately know the truth, I will give you two options for moving forward."
"What makes you think I would ever agree to something on your terms?" Knuckles crossed his arms.
"Oh, dear child," he sardonically laughed,"because you have no choice. See," he glanced down at his drink in a contemplative manner,"I orchestrated your arrival. I made sure you would be here at this time while no one would be available to save you."
Knuckles' chest tightened. His instincts were sounding off every alarm in his mind. He kept his arms crossed in a vain hope that he appeared confident in his skills.
"Your first, and most preferable option, is that we take this somewhere else and converse as not adversaries, but two men of equal footing. Your second option," he paused, deliberately eyeing Knuckles fists,"which would occur if you start throwing punches, is that your father's life would be at quite the risk."
Knuckles cocked his head, releasing his arms from their original position,"He... he's alive?!"
"Well, that is up to you," a wry grin grew across his face.
Knuckles stared at him. Why trust this impostor? This sociopath? But then again, why would he use an empty threat?
"Fine," Knuckles shook his head slightly, disappointed that he would even entertain this monster.
"Good," Mortori warmly smiled,"follow me. We have so much to discuss."

Knuckles is 14, about to be 15 in this timeline.
This is a overhaul of KTE #20.
Mortori's Tobor disguise is my own redesign from years ago with some minor updates -
Context:
Knuckles has discovered Tobor and took him to E.S.T. for safekeeping since he cannot find where his mother lives. He traveled through the snowstorm to the edge of the island in hopes of finding help.

I've had this idea bounding around in my head of how things could(should) have gone down for quite some time. The impostor sub-plot is such a great idea, especially with Mortori Rex being an absolute gaslighting menace.
Mock covers are a fun exercise. 10/10; will do again!

The second part of Locke's sheet is a 'what if' that is taking way to long so here is his independent redesign!
This one doesn't have the color tests since I already had a good idea of what colors I was going to use from a previously failed redesign. The main things I changed were his clothes, hair, and those weird dread tassels that were never consistent. I also deliberately made him more stocky than normal to add to the 'dad' appearance.
This redesign means so much to me personally; finally getting to see the character that I perceived as a child and not the absolutist from the comics. Rose-tinted, nostalgia glasses do come in handy sometimes.

I was finally able to secure the Knuckles the Dread set. Not being biased, the paint job on Knuckles could be much better. I'm not sure if mine is the status quo, but if you do plan on picking this set up know that there will be major inconsistencies in the paint job. The ship's base also didn't want to snap in correctly. I checked the instructions and finally used some super glue(oh the horror!)
In an unbiased lense, I would give it at most a 7/10. Not perfect, but not terrible either.
With the honest review out of the way.
This was so fun to assemble! I had a ship similar to this that I shared with a sibling so this really hits close for me. The Knuckles figure is quite sturdy! I'm honestly impressed with how hardy the plastic is.
Now to find a place to make a Knuckles shrine...

If Archie's Sonic the Hedgehog was cancelled by issue fifty and was years later replaced by the Sonic X comic book before that too would be replaced by another Sonic comic title, that being the Sonic Boom comic, how different could the landscape of comicdom (comic fandom) be with Archie Sonic ending it's run in 1997? And what if the 48 page Sonic Super Specials were canned too?
This is a great question, but one I am not knowledgeable enough to indulge in the ramifications of it with expertise. So consider this an opinion piece. I do think that there would overall be less fear to do heavy lore from lack of lawsuits. No lawsuits would mean that SEGA/Sonic Team could create more nuanced stories and lore without looking over their shoulder constantly.
With the hypothetical timeline listed, I also believe that Sonic's personality might have been hammered down a bit faster. The Archie Sonic run had amazing ups but even more devastating downs. Sonic X is a really good reference point for Sonic's personality, so having it take over would have possibly made the fanbase more unified on how he should act in games and what would be considered off for him.
Boom comics would probably remain controversial, if not more hated with Sonic X being so closely behind. I'm not sure in what universe Boom would have a positive impact even though there were definitely some good ideas in there.
This is really opinionated as mentioned earlier. But it is something interesting to contemplate. I do think without the ugly sides like some of Archie Sonic's issues, lawsuits, poor games, and fandom debates, the fanbase would not be half as resilient. Getting to see SEGA/Sonic Team course correct in real time is fascinating to see. I think without those tribulations the STH IP overall would be vastly different.
TLDR: Such a timeline would have drastically reshaped not only the comicbook fandom, but also everything else. A domino effect, if you will.
