"The Biden administration, after reportedly finding three battalions within the Israeli occupation forces to be violating human rights and taking the decision to sanction it, decided not to proceed with the punitive measures.
The three battalions, found to be committing 'gross human rights violations' against Palestinian civilians in the occupied West Bank, will walk away scott-free as no sanctions will be imposed on them, ABC News reported.
US Secretary of State Antony Binken informed US House Speaker Mike Johnson of the decision in a Friday letter, wherein he reportedly said the fact that they were found to be violating human rights would not impede or delay the delivery of any type of assistance to the Israeli occupation.
Blinken underlined that the Israeli occupation forces would receive the full amount of arms and funds appropriated by Congress."
I think Isreal might be responsible for the proletariat awaking to the contradiction capitalism possesses. I think that as the war has continued, and as it will continue, the media which has typically appeared to have been on the side of the so called “left” (who are in-fact left leaning liberals) has been taking a radically different and detatched stance to the majority of the people. This war has made class interests so visible that I think it will be very hard for the bourbon to back peddle at this point and the proletariat shall only become more revolutionary.
As leftists we have to spread news about Palestine so that more people can view this contradiction between the ruling elite and the working masses.
”They're literally trying to get readers to do the work of scraping fics for them.”
So today I got a rather unkind comment on AO3 (one could call it hate), but I believe it to be a bot for several reasons:
Guest account, but username attached
Said username exists but person is unlikely to be reading Tolkien fic (according to their Tumblr and AO3, they are in other fandoms)
Two grammatically correct sentences
Super generic text that could apply to any fic:
"I've seen better fanfiction written by a toddler. Get it together!"
I'm curious, did anyone else get comments like this? Let me know.
And to those who have gotten rude comments and are now worried/upset: Maybe it was just a bot too. Either way: You're awesome for putting your writing out there for others to enjoy and you don't deserve to get rude comments for it. If you want feel free to message me to compare cases and discuss details :)
my go to for commenting (because it can be overwhelming) is:
1. what's something that made me smile
2. what's something that made me laugh
3. was there any part I thought: "oh that's clever"
4. did this make me feel warm and fuzzy?
5. have a thank you!
happy commenting!
Just so you all realize and see it in action:
This fic was finished in 2015 and the author hadn't had a comment since 2016. They appreciated the comment even though it was just emoji hearts, they were happy and surprised to receive love on their older fic.
Don't stop commenting just because it's an old piece or because you think you can't come up with something smart, witty or thoughtful to say.
Just say anything. Just put an emoji. Just let them know you appreciate their work.
AO3 has currently had to turn off guest comments due to an inundation of spam comments. If you are not logged in or do not have an account, you will not be able to leave comments on an authors work. There is currently not an ETA on when guest comments will be allowed again.
At a time when engagement is already low, authors are going to lose more comments.
If you have an AO3 account it is now more important than ever to leave a comment if you've taken the time to read someone's work.
Even if all you can do is leave "loved this" "great work" "!#^&## omg!!" It will bring such a smile to the author, I assure you!
If they have their tumblr listed, and you're a guest reader, consider leaving a comment through their ask box.
Comments are truly what keeps authors going and a large part of what makes the work and effort worth it.
