I have learnt to trust when I stall on finishing a painting and to not let my logical mind dominate and over ride the painting process, the timing and the journey of a painting. Some pieces have work to do in the world. And this work in progress of this beautiful beautiful girl is one of those pieces. The painting has pre sold to a lovely lady who came through on the first day of open studios. Upon seeing the painting she became very emotional and teary, deeply connecting with the painting. She came back today to talk about her response to the painting. I trust the power of art, of painting, of people. Much work, healing and connection going on in the unseen world. Made apparent from gazing at an artwork. That's it! All done & dusted ~ open studios is finished (for me - it is still on for other artists today so do get along to visit them). Trent White Photography captured her with an expression which in turn captured my muse & my heart. I am closed today for open studios but back open tomorrow & Saturday ~ so far, people visiting have been crushing on the following pieces ❤️ As an artist, who usually has a quiet inner dialogue about their own work (not always positive ~ we can be tremendously hard ourselves with our inner critic), it is lovely to be able to talk about our work and obtain feedback from many objective eyes and hearts. Open studios can consolidate & affirm for the artist, what direction their work is going in and plans for future work. At the same time, visitors find themselves opened up and moved by a painting, feeling joy, love, loss, hope, happiness & gratitude, or if an artist themselves...inspired or charged with a fire in their belly to go home & rip out a fresh canvas to start creating again! The blessing of art/art appreciation, is very much circular and continuous as we pass the inspiration gift to each other.
