Jethrault is difficult for me to imagine as Azem. Like, I don't see him get along very well with Ancients. Maybe Hythlodaeus ? I think Emet and Azem would have been close only because Emet was powerful enough to contain Azem if he broke too many Ancient laws.

Yet I have one headcanon about Azem!Jethrault. He already had his ferocious nature but his endless curiosity too. Not fond of the creation politic, he didn't make any concept. But he created some creatures, gifted by a soul since he designed them for for the first purpose to live. Since this kind of creature were highly regulated, and because he never presented his concepts, he was advised to stop creating more of them. An Ancient, member of the Concile, and watched to prevent any of his creation, in a world everybody can create, no matter how silly or dangerous or vicious the concept is? Of course he created one more ! He put all his mind and ether and creativity in this creation. It took him a whole year to create it, thinking of every detail of it. He wanted not only to create something the Concile could never get, but his first motivation was to recreate something he thought his people lost, a too long time ago. He used his admiration for the young Themis, got inspired by the joy of his mentor Venat, by the wonder in Hythlodaeus' eyes in front of new concept, even the tenderness within Emet when he witness success despite his pessimism. But most of all, he gathered all his knowledge about the whole planet and its inhabitants. To form his creation, he used the most fragile and powerful ether he could form, produced by his soul itself. The process alerted Emet Selch who rushed but arrived too late. Azem was exhausted, but smiling at the creation. Even if it hadn't a physical form, made of pure aether, Hades saw that the planet had also granted a soul to it, a will and life by itself. If he had to, he would have described it as a laughing boy, floating and gasping at everything he saw. Ancient had lost this concept for a long time in two different ways : They didn't believe in superior entities beside the planet, and their cycle of life prevent them to bear such naivety. So Azem crated a little God of Innocence. And even the stoic and stern Hades was bewildered by the entity when they slid past him to escape hiding itself forever as a nice breeze of air. A remembrance of the imagination, and happiness guided by the ignorance of harm and fear and consequences.

Azem regretted his creation, not for itself. He was happy to see more creatures and Ancients having some moments of wonder, of playfulness, influenced by a minor god. Innocence enhances hope and dreams, imagination and creativity, it might lead to problems, but isn't Azem's role to solve them? Yet, it didn't prevent the apocalypse. It wasn't its role. Perhaps even because the creatures had this renewed innocence, their return to the ether was made more difficult for Hermes to bear. It inspired the Zodiarch project, and Azem couldn't stop it since he was the creator of "a successful prototype". But Azem knew his creation stripped him of a part of his soul, the very one it encourages in others.

That's why Azem, and later his reincarnations, never believes in gods, and lost their innocence at a young age. That's why Jethrault hates Vauthry in particular, even though he wasn't really powerful. That's also why the innocent Meteion trusted him in Elpis, influenced by the little god. Maybe the repressed memory of this creation led Jethrault to be scholar, mimicking this very moment when he summons Selene. This nameless God might have disappeared at the fragmentation of the world, and even their creator has no memory of them. Yet, they might still exist ? Following him, unable to interact with him, but capable of maintaining his companions innocence and hope ? Helping in the creation of - other - miracles.

And thus marks the end of my Ni No Kuni Wrath of the White Witch saga. Painting these dolls has been a huge comfort for me but there are only so many characters in the game. Some characters are missing, like Cassiopeia, Khulan, Kublai, the Zodiarchs, etc. as their designs are too complex and intimidating, and I don’t think I would be able to do them justice.

Out of curiosity, if I started an Etsy shop for these little guys would anyone be interested?

Hey, @sildih, hey @pudgy-puk, hey @chocographs. I know all three of you have me blocked, so I cannot directly respond to the callout post Terpy made about my girlfriend and that the three of you are cross-promoting. I fucking see you.

It is disingenuous to say the least to treat the scenario that played out over the last few months as if it was my girlfriend browbeating and covertly bullying you out of complaining about Stormblood out of some kind of Garlean-loving racist mania, which you have implied if not outright stated in quite a few posts on twitter and tumblr since you unceremoniously blocked both of us. I’ve been staying quiet, and so has Jo, because this didn’t seem like something appropriate to drag into the public light.

This isn’t going to be a point by point refutation of your post. That’s giving you far too much credit.

Because what happened was you treating my partner and I like a captive audience for all of your personal grievances with FFXIV’s narrative direction. We knew you were unhappy with the portrayal of Ala Mhigo and Ala Mhigans. We knew you massively resented non-Highlander characters for their popularity and resented your own non-Highlander characters for their popularity, and you resented how the story gave any time or attention to Doma. You hated that Garleans were permitted sympathetic portrayal. I say this because you told us this repeatedly. On tumblr. On twitter. In Discord chats. Over voice chat. Over our FC and linkshell chats. It was the only thing in the game you more or less talked about other than your favorite NPC since the launch of Stormblood, and while I can respect the fact that you were deeply displeased with the way the game handled your favorite setting and subject, this was what caused Jo and I to reach the point we did with you.

The point we tried to make was that you’re not obligated to play the game. You’re not obligated to try and enjoy it. Neither of us were here to tell you that your takes on the game were wrong. But that the fucking game was making you miserable for months, and you were getting so little in the way of enjoyment out of it that we genuinely thought that you ought to have stepped away from it. God knows that it’s possible to fall out of love with a work of fiction. And what you could have done was unsubscribed. You could have networked with other dissatisfied fans of Ala Mhigo and actually talked to them about your shared thoughts on how the game handled the narrative. And despite what you might think, they do exist in the community and I’m pretty sure you are or were mutual followers with at least a few of them. You could have focused on a work of fiction that you actually enjoy and don’t find miserable or problematic to engage with on the level that Stormblood did, but you didn’t. You didn’t seek out people who felt similarly.

You treated Jo and I like a captive audience. Because we were trying to be friends with you, and help you deal with your loneliness and alienation from the community. But as it turns out, it became increasingly hard to enjoy spending any time around you being incessantly negative about nearly everything in FFXIV. We didn’t want to turn conversations into arguments. It’s not something either of us enjoy! I don’t know if you did. I don’t think it matters. But I don’t think the fact that you became a constant presence of negativity and passive-aggression in our lives is something you even considered. We tried so fucking hard to be polite for so fucking long and you didn’t consider the fact that you digging yourself into a hole of misery and sourness about the game in more or less every social media post and conversation for months was something that could have been unenjoyable or alienating to your friends. Considering how quickly you dropped us, it’s a little hard to feel like you ever saw us as friends to begin with.

But I guess it’s easier to paint my partner as an evil, racist harpy who told you that you weren’t allowed to be upset about Ala Mhigo anymore, instead of a human being who finally decided she’d had enough of being treated as an open forum for all of your Stormblood criticism with zero room for her own thoughts on the matter, lest you get even more upset that the person you opened up to not treat your word as law. That was never the fucking point. The fucking point is that we were tired of being what felt like your sole audience for all of this commentary, that you couldn’t step away from the game and focus on something else that could actually make you happy for once, and that you openly resented the fact that we enjoyed Stormblood. That we liked it more than Heavensward- don’t think that I haven’t forgotten you getting passive-aggressive when I opened up about my Heavensward criticism on my twitter! I genuinely could never tell if you saw us more than a couple of goddamn wooden posts to talk at to validate everything you had to say about the game, regardless of what we might have thought.

Also, really cool that you call Jo out for having a black character in-game while not being black herself- I suppose it’s only bad when it’s a person who isn’t vocally critical of Stormblood, and not when it’s one of your “good” friends?

Just, bye. I don’t even have anything to say to you, Teg and Chesca. But I see you there. And I haven’t forgotten how you abused my trust and confidence and used me for emotional support that I couldn’t afford to provide with my life circumstances. I know you’re not fucking unbiased.

I just found something in the wotww wizards companion, I was looking at the cloak items in the book because I want to draw people wearing it eventually because the designs are bopping but then when looking I saw the wizards robes and it's description has red letters, not all over just a few and put together the red letters spell out "beware" which is concerning??? I can't remember any quests or anything really that requires you to go to this page and find that message, I even showed my ma who has beat all the quests in wotww and she couldn't remember it either, I would look for more item descriptions like that but it's late so I'll check in the morning and tell you if I find any more

it is for a quest! it's for horace's riddle before he gives you astra (the spell). he wrote it in as a warning because those are the robes the zodiarchs wore in nazcaa

any weird/out of place stuff in the wizard's companion is to do with either a quest or it's left over from dotdd (for example, the "i smell" nazcaan. it's used for a quest in dotdd but it's just kind of there in wotww. which is really funny. there's also another far bigger piece left over from dotdd but it's BIG spoilers. you won't find it unless you a) actively look for it and b) translate like a lot of nazcaan don't worry)

Random song!  This is definitely not a song I’d normally associate with Tiergan, but giving it a listen, I’d say it’s about Tiergan’s struggle to adapt to living a normal life like everyone else.  

He’s only been a free man for 3 years. Many things that come naturally to most are a struggle for him and it occasionally leads to feelings of frustration or fear at his inability to adapt fast enough. 

He wants to see all the ‘colors’ everyone else sees. He wants to be as ‘colorful and free’ as everyone else.  He wants to look in the mirror and no longer see himself as a slave.

001, estinien/ysayle?

I’m gonna copy a little from an old post of mine again bc I still feel the same way about this ship

when I started shipping it if I did:ah yes- I have to admit I shipped them even before I actually got to see their interaction; tumblr dropped some nice fanarts and I was like “OH. A GOOD COMBINATION. INTERESTING.”  Of course, I said I’d wait and see what I think of their interaction in the end, but I was quite taken in by the thought from the get go because azure dragoon + lady of the heretics set me on fire. When I actually got to see them in 3.0, they did not disappoint!

my thoughts:everytime I think my absolute love for them has calmed down, I only need to rewatch the 3.0 trip to fall for them even more. I think their dynamic is super interesting, ESPECIALLY because their ideas were so fundamentally different at first, but their journey together with the wol and alphinaud made them form a bond regardless, and a lot of comments from Estinien’s side show that he did care and started to show that more openly -  subtle comments, but definitely there! They both grew out of their views and ways and found that despite their fundamental difference (peace seeker vs. vengeance seeker) they were more similar than they thought they would be. they could’ve been such a good couple that I’d definitely consider working extremely well if they came to work on it, there was some mutual understanding beginning to bloom there, but alas, the game had different plans And don’t talk to me about the flower bouquet.

What makes me happy about them:- animosity turning into understanding- hidden caring (especially estinien->ysayle during the later parts of the journey, and the flower bouquet sort of confirms it for me) - extremely great fuel for the HW conflict while at the same time that unlikely alliance of est/alphi/ysayle/wol always makes their relationship feel so...far away from society sometimes, and I think that really helped them see so many things differently. - I just really think they have great chemistry- ngl I also love the aesthetic of this ship /a lot/

What makes me sad about them:- THEY CAN’T BE TOGETHER. YSAYLE DIDN’T HAVE TO DIE!!! UGH I HATE THIS so much. so much. they were good but there could’ve been so much more.- the thought that Ysayle probably didn’t have the time to realize that Estinien does care beyond coming to respect her a little- Estinien and the Flower Bouquet. it just kills me.

who is the big spoon/little spoon:both roughly engaged in certain things and keeping their distance after is my only answer lmaoIF THEY COULD’VE WORKED ON IT THEN I THINK ESTINIEN WOULD ACTUALLY MAKE A GOOD BIG SPOON. I think he has that hidden protective side to him underneath his jerkery. and ysayle, as strong and determined as she is, can also be quite frail emotionally, and I believe a hug and some warmth would do her good.

what is their favorite non-sexual activityhonestly I have no idea. estinien is so set on training and vengeance at that point, I still struggle imagining him with a fitting hobby yet, but if they both lived, I would have loved to see them travel some more. Ysayle enjoys the nights when they’d sit on campfires and sit closer to each other bit by bit as time progresses. Estinien actually loves Ysayle’s soups, but don’t tell her that. He’s just eating it because there’s nothing else and you don’t waste things /wink wink winkalso. estinien+ysayle+dragon bonding. ysayle kicking estinien’s rude ass

11, 25, 26!

11: I’ve always only ever followed a small number of blogs here on tumblr, less than a 100. I’m pretty sure half or more of them are artists or art-related blogs

25: I listen to youtube playlists! when I’m streaming or don’t want much distraction I put on vocal-less tracks, usually post-modern rock, Nujabes o DL Oikawa. Otherwise I’m usually listening to Muse, Arctic Monkeys, or whatever fits the mood of what I’m painting (so usually “dark country/folk/horror” music). Lately I’ve been listening to Soulsborne related videos, and I like VaatiVidya’s content the best. 

26: I’ve been using Paint Tool SAI for the past few years and it best suits my needs. The lack of fancy filters or editing like in photoshop or clip studio paint forced me to learn to draw many things manually. Lately, I’ve been trying to get better acquainted with clip studio, and adjusting to the sheer number of options is very overwhelming. Haven’t found a suitable way to paint in it though.
