Some Changes Made to "The Wicker Man" MTL Fanfiction
Hey y'all. I started writing this fanfiction in 2021, and stopped for a while. AOTD got me back into writing it, and some changes needed to be made to the plot. Lucy went through some changes as well, and a LOT was developed in that time.
I just spent a lot of time editing the entirety of what I have on AO3, including newer chapters that were posted in 2023. It has been a labor of love but it has taken a hefty chunk of time to do. I have a solid outline now, as well as Chapter 20 just about ready to go.
If you want to either reread it or want to start reading Lucy's story, now is the perfect time! And I have it linked right here.

General grammar, flow, wording, etc.
Lucy's entering the story between Episode 4 and 5 of Season 2 rather than during Season 3. She needed more time to develop, and some of the shenanigans I have in store are going to require more time. She and Pickles are 29 at the time the story starts (my canon for their ages for this story.)
The metaphysical side of things is alluded to more in preparation for a lot more of it coming up in future chapters.
Lucy's abusive relationship only lasted 5 years and she killed him on their 5 year anniversary from when they started dating. 15 years seemed too long for her, and with new family members I have added, they would have killed him too.
Larry's last name has been changed to Slaughter.
Pickles and Lucy have more romantic tension building between them in cute little ways.
More tension being built in general between Lucy and the other characters she's eventually going to end up with in some way, shape, or form.
Cut out a superfluous sex scene between Dick and Lucy that I wasn't happy with from the get go anyway.
In general, Lucy has more nuance and comes off as less timid. It was something that I hadn't felt was "her" to begin with, and I've made her feel more true to her original vision that I had of her.
Her C-PTSD diagnosis is a lot more minor and more of a background thing, which again, is more true to the story that I want for her.
More allusions to past lives.
Lucy has seen the ocean before on family vacations, but it's been a long time.
The two Tribunal scenes got combined into one and adjusted
Adjustments to Nathan's prophetic dream thoughts.
Blues Devil is gonna have... Hoooooo boy is he gonna have a bigger role. So the MPJ cameo was adjusted and expanded to include him.
There are allusions to Blues Devil thrown in earlier as well.
Slight adjustment to Lucy's trial, an ominous interaction with the opposing lawyer added at the end.
Obviously Charles hasn't been made aware of the Prophecy yet, so that scene shifts to exclude him and just be Ischnifus
Probably other changes, but I also made this list as a draft as I did edits.

I need people to stop blaming the death of movies on “quips”. A quip is just a funny line of dialogue. That’s all. Like I just saw a post talking about quips and the death of movies and brought up Pirates of the Caribbean as an example of a better movie and yes it is but also that movie is FULL OF QUIPS. I just rewatched The Princess Bride. It’s all quips. Every single line. And it’s a masterpiece.
Movies suck when people don’t care about the art they’re making. That includes them not caring about their quips. Which is why a lot of comic relief dialogue ALSO sucks now. But the problem isn’t that funny dialogue exists.
