I gotta do this. Issafer.
oh my god
i’m gonna be honest, my characters mainly tend towards clustering in the Good area of the alignment chart so that causes some problems with dating Issafer “carries thumbscrews around like a weirdo and threatens torture” Carrioncrown.
...Vadania. She’s a half-elf CN former street urchin, current dragon sorcerer. She cares mostly about 1)getting that sweet sweet gold to not live on the street ever again 2)not being murdered or arrested on behalf of that one noble she robbed blind to get enough money to get out of poverty and 3)her pet mouse, Princess Snuffles the Third. Issafer’s warlock thing wouldn’t bother her. Power is good, and if he answers to one of the Great Old Ones or whatever, well, there’s always a bigger fish, so she’s not too shocked.

@zipding replied to your post: the case for the yuuei traitor being tooru...
I think it might be Monoma, his jealousy of 1a might be a reason why he turned on Yuuei
yeah that’s true, but i feel like narratively? the traitor being a member of class b isn’t as strong as the traitor being a member of class a? like we know monoma even less then we know tooru. it feels like a jump i wouldnt particularly be a fan of.
i....don’t think the traitor is a staff member for various reasons, and that leaves the students of class a. ive been trolling around theories and i just watched an excellent video that pointed out a couple of strikes against her, including (which is something i’ve never noticed before) that she wasn’t in class the day of the class trial (the day shigaraki disintegrated the gates, let the press in, and left an opportunity open to steal the lesson plans that let the villain alliance know when the kids and all might were going to be in USJ).

Q&A: Anti-Cav
zipding said to howtofightwrite:
What would be the most efficient way to blunt a heavy cavalry charge? My characters are part of a larger unit wearing heavier armour and ready access to shield and polearms like spears, halberds, and the like. Would these tools assist in reducing the chance of being heavily disrupted?
The very short answer is: kill the horses. Heavy cavalry without horses are just heavy infantry. Still dangerous, still with a combat role, but nowhere near as threatening as they were on horseback.
This may sound callous, or even cruel, especially in a modern context, but it’s worth remembering that warhorses are equal parts weapon, and a member of the enemy forces. It is neither a pet, nor an innocent participant. It is actively trying to kill you.
Depending on the situation, the easiest way to deal with enemy cavalry may simply be entrenchment. Rows of sharp spikes mounted onto a log (called a Cheval de Frise) is one excellent way of making sure that enemy cavalry can’t simply charge into your forces. Improvised ones may be as simple as lashing crudely sharpened logs together.
In more offensive situations, making sure your front line, particularly along the flanks, includes squads equipped with polearms (usually spears or lances) can make the force far more resistant to incoming cavalry charges. If they deploy those weapons in a rough phalanx, the first line of any incoming horses will get skewered, and the ones that follow will have to navigate their own dead in addition to the battlefield. (Also worth noting that films have lied to you. Most horses, even war horses, will not willingly charge into readied spears, even if its rider orders it to.) These soldiers may be reinforced with heavy infantry, who can move in and replace them when the enemy infantry reaches the spear wall.
One primary value of cavalry is the ability to flank an enemy force. Somewhat obviously, the horse can move far faster on the battlefield, which more than makes up for the additional logistical concerns, and that, while traveling, heavy cavalry will actually slow the army’s movement overall. This means that effective use of the horse includes moving past the the enemy’s formation, and then strike from the rear, or sides of their forces. This can potentially result in a situation where both sides field flanking cavalry, who engage with one another out away from the main force.
Carefully deployed skirmishers can break up a cavalry charge before it gets started. Skirmishers are light units who may be deployed in advance of the main force, with the intention of disrupting and harassing enemy forces before combat begins. While it’s less of a sure thing, skirmishers armed with ranged weapons can begin softening up the incoming cavalry before the fight even gets started.
Mounted archers (and later mounted gunmen) were more of a specialized unit, so not every force fielded them, but they could be exceptionally useful in a skirmisher role, taking shots at enemy forces, while still maintaining their distance.
Terrain can also be an important factor to control enemy charges. Holding high ground, like a ridge, can make it much more difficult for cavalry to charge up to you. They’ll still be able to get there, but they’ll be far more exhausted by the time they reach you.
Dense forests can also be incredibly disruptive for horses, as it’s much harder to maintain formation when there’s a tree in your way. Combine that with uneven terrain, and it’s just a terrible place for mounted combatants.

Helping Other Huskies After Finding Himself
Bob Braun's high school counselor recommended Bloomsburg State College because she thought he would be a good teacher. But the truth was that the '85 BU alum, and current Airmatic Sales Director, had no idea what he wanted to do or who he wanted to be. And he wouldn't for quite some time.
"Why she thought that I don't know," recalled Braun. "I wanted to get into business to make money, but doing what, I had no idea."
Tumblr media
Even before it was called Bloomsburg University, the Business and Accounting programs on campus had a solid reputation. Braun enrolled and took the advice of his orientation leaders to get involved.  He was accepted as an RA his sophomore year, joined a fraternity in his junior year, and largely credits these and other campus experiences for helping him grow into a confident adult. Still, something seemed to be missing.
"I found myself at Bloomsburg," explained Braun. "I can remember being so happy that a lifelong dream had come true [at graduation], but what am I going to do now? I felt prepared but empty."
Tumblr media
Braun found his first position as a merchandise manager trainee through an ad in the classifieds with the toy retail giant, Toys R Us. For those who remember Christmas of 1985, Braun had the historic experience of maintaining and protecting the store's inventory of Cabbage Patch dolls.
"It was a circus," laughed Braun. "It was like we were guarding piles of gold at Fort Knox."
Braun gained valuable experience from the position but said the idea of working holidays and weekends became less appealing. He moved on as a systems representative for ABC Payroll, an early precursor to ADP, where he used computer code parameters and subroutines to create a payroll system for clients. His path forked again when he met the woman who is now his wife and was assigned the payroll contract for Iron Workers Union Local 401. Braun was familiar with the organization through his family history and felt compelled to leave the business world and serve an apprenticeship to become a journeyman ironworker.
Tumblr media
"I had always been awestruck by the dangerous and difficult nature of ironworking," explained Braun. "My father, grandfather, and uncles had all been ironworkers."
A work injury six years later forced Braun to rethink his career again. After recovering from a severe back injury, he returned to his Business degree as an entry-level salesperson at Airmatic, a small industrial distribution company in Philadelphia.
"As I learned the industry, I had to catch up for lost time," explained Braun. "I had this degree from Bloomsburg, but I had lost that trail."
Tumblr media
Even as he gained experience and life became more manageable, Braun still had that empty feeling. He became reacquainted with his alma mater after helping a student in his fraternity obtain an internship at Airmatic. That student became a permanent hire after graduation, and Braun has hosted three more Husky interns since that time. He has since become more involved on campus through the ZIPD Conference, Husky Student Leadership Summit, virtual alumni panels, sales and marketing advisory board and the BU Professional Sales Competition.
"A mentor told me at Airmatic that volunteering gets you out of your comfort zone," recalled Braun. "It's like therapy when you're volunteering and trying to help others do well."
Tumblr media
Braun says that he's never had a bad experience in his efforts to help current students on their career journey. In fact, he says volunteering has alleviated the emptiness he once felt. Now, Braun stresses to students the importance of taking advantage of alumni interactions and connections that he wishes he had when he was a student.  He helps students evaluate what they know, what they enjoy, the different things they can do, and the fact that all alumni were once where they are now.
"This is just a step in the process of where they want to go and do, and they can be anything they want," explained Braun. "I'm living proof of that."
Tumblr media
Living proof that while events that seem like detours are really ways of growing toward the kind of person one wants to be.
"I just like being back and helping people," said Braun. "Volunteering makes me feel good. Hiring Huskies makes me feel good. I am learning and growing and living the life of the person I always wanted to be but never thought I could."

The ZIPD Conference is a coveted event every year for students of all majors and the BU alumni who make the trek back to the campus on the hill. For Donald Ganghenbaugh, Richard Wisniewski, Bob Moore, and Juli Miller, it is one of their favorite trips to make. Each of these alumni are head executives of global businesses and have tracked more airline miles than you could imagine.
Working in global business, is no easy feat and the four presenters at the Global Business session quickly made this clear. The over lying theme for the presentation was, patience.
“In global business you need patience and understanding,” said Ganghenbaugh, “there are three different “now’s” in global business. Now, just now and now now.”
There are countless cultures that make up the world and if your company works internationally, you need to understand that not all customers operate the same as the United States. Understanding which culture uses what kind of “now” is crucial to success and making a deal. Time is a huge cultural difference amongst countries, and with language barriers and different time zones, there are going to be challenges in communication.
Among most recent years, technology has been a big factor in helping break down those barriers and making communication easier. Even though technology makes contact more accessible, it has lessened the opportunity for face-to-face communication. Miller, who is Vice-President and Global Leader at Johnson & Johnson, uses Global Connect which is a video conferencing technology for interviewing, meetings, conferences and more.
“Technology will change global business,” said Miller, “but some cultures do need face-to-face communication with eye to eye contact and a firm handshake.”
International customers need to see commitment, be entertained and shown that they are your number one priority or they will not agree to doing business. Technology makes that personalized communication difficult, but is still possible nonetheless with proper training and huge amounts of patience from both parties.
“Global business is not for everyone”, said Miller, “take on a study abroad experience to show if you like working globally or not.”
Miller interned at Walt Disney World and lived within a community that was made up of people from all over the world. Having an experience that is out of your comfort zone, opens your eyes to a new global perspective. Due to cultural differences, you are not always on the same page, so global business is all about having patience to get people to do something they don’t want to do.
Along the lines of pushing the limits to getting people to do something, each of the four presenters stressed that you need to uphold ethical standards in global business. Obviously, everyone loves to make money, but you need to keep your reputation afloat. Just because it isn’t illegal, doesn’t mean it’s ethical.
The only way to truly understand and practice these global ethical standards is to get out there yourself and see if traveling the world is right for you. Study abroad gives you that experience and that is something Bloomsburg offers for many different programs. While taking it a step further and making traveling into a career may sound like a lot of work, these BU alumni have created successful businesses and a lifetime filled with relationships that reach across the world.

@ issafer dude you know you can like, ask people what they’re thinking, and not just read their minds, right? like that’s a thing you can do.
also it makes me laugh that he’s like “yes i am a wizard i am such a wizard look at me doing my wizardly thing” (spams eldritch blast) (spams shillelagh) (uses like 1 spell slot per day) and the rest of the party just goes “seems legit” and moves on

So I’m in a very uncomfortable and awkward situation in the D&D campaign I’m running. One of my players missed last night’s session due to connectivity issues (it happens, I’ve missed sessions because of that before), but because of what was involved, he feels like there’s too much personal frustration tied to the character to continue playing him. That’s a fair reason to want to create a new character.
But the player wants it so that the character never existed. The players never met him, he was not involved in any part of the campaign.
This puts me in a very awkward situation because I don’t want to say a character never existed in the game. It means that I have to retcon about a month or so of sessions to explain how the party got to where they are now, something that would break the immersion of everyone involved. This is doubled by him stating in a group chat that his character never existed and the players never met him.
I’m not sure what to do in this situation, because D&D is a group event, but as DM, I do have final say on what goes down. I don’t want to say the character never existed, but at the same time, I don’t want to fracture the party behind my decision.
If anyone has any ideas of what I can do, feel free to let me know.
