No! It's actually a roleplay I have with the lovely @keikbird ! This was her amazing idea, not mine, and I so enjoy writing with her!

She was like a flower, one that blossomed on the cusp of spring. Something bold but soft, like purple hyacinths that trumpet spring's arrival, or a bloom as fragrant as Lily of the Valley. Sweet and subtle and surprising to note just how poisonous to the heart such a delicate flower could be. Rosy flesh speckled with beauty marks and lashes that batted, fluttering like leaves.

Flowers usually don’t talk though.

He must’ve scared her by how she jumped away from the plant she was touching. She wasn’t the first customer to stroll in, thinking the plants were off limits to interact with. On the contrary, he encouraged it.

When her eyes danced around the shop and called it beautiful, Link fell into his typical routine of bashfulness. “Thanks, it was my grandmothers,” he said, sticking a hand in his apron as the other itched at the nape of his neck—only to feel a leaf stuck to his skin. Inconspicuously, he gripped the rogue plant piece in his fist, then shoved it into his other pocket of the apron, and now both his hands were fidgeting in there. Goddess, he was so caught off guard by her.

It was always a delight to see a customer’s face light up at the sight of Hess. Usually, the old dog never got out of bed unless he smelled food—it was quite unusual he’d get up from his afternoon nap just to say hi, but here he was; slowly sauntering up to the girl and sniffing her knees, wanting to be pet.

“That’s Hess, it’s short for Hestu. My grandmother named him after my grandfather because she thought it was funny,” Link chuckled. “He won’t bite or anything, you can pet him.”

Her previous fidget with the watch on her wrist made Link check his own. Right. It was noon. If she was for his mid-day appointment, this woman was pretty and punctual.

“Are you just browsing, or are you my 12 o’clock appointment for wedding bouquets?” If she was, this girl would make the most beautiful bride Link had ever made bouquets for.

1. What fic of yours would you recommend to someone who had never read any of your work? (In other words, what do you think is the best introduction to your fics?)

Oh boy, this is tough. I experiment with writing styles frequently, so idk if there's just one that could be a good introduction to them all. Still, I guess I'll go with this one: "alive again" (short oneshot of post-BotW Zelink being cute and silly).

26. Would you rather write a fic that had no dialogue or one that was only dialogue?

Lol since you sent this ask, I've written two entire fics without dialogue: "this one at last" (TotK Zelda's POV of waiting for LInk) and "you waited smiling for this" (HW Link's journey of self-destruction and then healing). I'm interested in trying out a dialogue-only fic, but I don't have any ideas yet. There has to be a reason why there's only dialogue, y'know? I don't want to just write it that way just because.

30. Have you ever written something that was out of your comfort zone? If so, what was it, and how did it affect your approach to writing fic thereafter?

Yes, and I'm so proud of it! I've never written whump or any kind of fight scene, and definitely have never mixed humor and angst before, so writing this fic was a challenge, but it totally worked! One commenter said that this fic felt like someone put Looney Tunes music over an action film, and the compliment hasn't left my head since. Without further ado, I present "holding out for a beedle" (BotW Link gets captured and tortured by Yiga but Beedle saves the day).

Maybe this fic affected my approach to writing by giving me confidence to explore more. Now that I know I can write a decent fight scene, I want to try to push myself to write something more in depth, like a spar between HW Zelink.

A hum of an old engine in distress fills the air as a dark lowrider pulls up in front of the rows of storage units. The beater pull to a jerking stop in front of his garage unit. The brakes lurch unhappily and Four cringes at the sound of the wheels. The whole car vibrates unhealthily before coming to a stop as the engine cuts out. The window rolls down with a squeak and Shadow pops his head out, arm leaning out of the opening. He's got dark sunglasses and the hood of his jacket pulled up to protect him from the midday sun. "So?" Shadow asks, smirk pulling at his lips, "What do you think?"

Hey guys! How you doing? I'm Shiro. I'm quite a new Tumblr user and I hope for those of you who see this post (and are veterans of Tumblr) will take care of me 😅

I am a 20 year old (just turned 20 two days ago so a happy late birthday to me XD) girl who's absolutely obsessed with anything Zelda related. I am also a free style fan fiction writer with a wild imagination. I even think I live in Skyloft sometimes! I hope you enjoy the contents I have to offer here!

I'm also a hard core Zelink shipper. Especially in Skyward Sword. The two's dynamics are just so harmonious that it's just hard not to ship them together (can I get an agreement anyone?). Really, I absolutely love the Legend of Zelda fandom and I hope you'd feel the same as me XD

I also loved the Linked Universe idea and is trying to come up with some of my own AUs of LoZ that anyone may be interested of. In fact, I do have some of my own headcanons with some LoZ characters that some of you may agree with. Lemme know if you love the stories that I would write in the future. Can't wait to hear your feedbacks!

As a fellow writer, FTGU is largely inspirational. I love it and it is one of my favorite BotW fanfictions to date. I have my own story idea brewing in my head, but I can quite seem to get it on paper. I keep thinking of ideas and then getting discouraged because I'll think "this is too similar to ___fic and I don't want to seem like I'm stealing," even if I come up with the idea myself. I also don't have the end goal in mind just yet, so my writing feels stifled. Any advice to a struggling fan?

Anon, lovely anon, thank you so much! I make no claim to any writing expertise, but I’ll share with you what I know/believe.

- On being discouraged: I understand how you feel! It is hard to write within a relatively small or new fandom and feel as though you are making your mark. However, two things, 1) if you take your time, put in the effort and care, your fic will still be your fic, in your voice with your characterisations, even if the plot may be similar to others and 2) fanfic readers often don’t mind! They just love the fandom and want more to read, so don’t worry so much if elements of your fic are not entirely new.

- On being ‘original’: however if you want to workshop your story this is my advice. 1) Start by noting down your basic premise, genre, end goal, conflict and pairing (if applicable) If I was to do this with FTGU it’d be: post-calamity rebuilding Hyrule, Action/Drama, a united Hyrule, Cinelgen, and obvs Zelink. So you have the basic building blocks. 2) From there, ask yourself some hard questions, i.e. ‘Can I summarise the premise in just one sentence?’ 'What is my fic’s 'one unique thing’? 'What is the main message or point?’ 'How are the characters presented (eg personality) and how do they change?’ Really dig deep into the purpose of your story. Again with FTGU the answer to that is to present a realistic portrait of post-Calamity Hyrule. But this in of itself is such a broad premise that there’s so many different ways to tell that specific story. So even if you think 'oh well, there are already loads of post-Calamity fics’ it doesn’t matter – there’s so many ways to approach it that I’m certain you can find something unique

- On structure: I can only really share what works for me. When developing a story I like to figure out my ending and a do basic plot map. That way at least I have some template. Now; do I stick to my template? Lmao fuck no. So SO much changes and a lot of it on the fly. But having something to structure your story will help you feel like your writing is working towards a goal. From there you can flesh out your plan and break it into chapters, or just start writing and see where you go. If you feel you’re losing focus while writing individual scenes/sections, refer back to that plan and just ask yourself 'What is the goal of this scene? How does it fit into the wider story?’ Learning to focus scenes and drive a story to a particular point honestly just comes through practice, but keeping the purpose of a chapter/scene in mind at all times will help with that skill

- And lastly, on endings: I like to at least have AN ending in mind, or to at least be aware if its happy/sad. The exact ending might change, but again, it’s about having a goal

- Oh and actually lastly; unless you write the whole fic first (up to you), most fanfics are published as they are written. This is great because you can adapt the story on the fly, but it also means it can be daunting to 'commit’. My take is: who gives a shit. Retcon, reedit, change things up. It’s your work, so it’s your rules. Basically, don’t be afraid to make mistakes or publish something terrible and unoriginal. I believe all stories matter as long as you enjoy writing and sharing them, and at the end of the day that’s really all that counts!
