i think its always worth thinking about how women are portrayed in certain stories, from fictional narratives to reddit posts presenting themselves as true stories. is every woman in the narrative either antagonistic or shallow? are most or all of the men portrayed as sympathetic and competent, moreso than the women, even if they commit the same crimes?

both ad lib lovers and the summer hikaru died to something really interesting wherein they take typical genre conventions and set-ups of BL and place them into a genre other than romance, while still portraying the romantic undertones. where the summer hikaru died does this with horror, ad lib lovers does this with comedy.

as opposed to hikaru's focus on horror, in ad lib lovers, jealousy, desire, and a fear of inadequacy and loving someone more than they love you is portrayed through the lens of improv. this accurately depicts that having a crush on someone as an adult is humiliating.

gestures wildly. it's about crafting a legend out of a living person. how the Ghost is something your friend made up on the spot to make you look cool, but then it slowly starts taking over your life. until you forget everything you believed to be true. until everyone you loved is gone. your clan is disbanded, your uncle disowns you, you have gone from a honorable nobleman to a wanted outlaw. Like yeah story wise? Them being able to strike and shit is WILD and it opens up so many possibilities in terms of what CAN be done... But also things that's are too humanoid or designed to be human looking but not just don't vibe with me. I just sorta don't like 'em. It's not uncanny valley or anything I just have a dislike for hugely humanoid designs like them. I just really like my animals man. Like a special interest kind of love for animals and anthropomorphic animals from cartoons and games and stuff that has lasted a lifetime kind of thing, the human-esque ones just can't compete :(

Yet I'm gonna have to think about it now hhhh it's cool in concept and it's been on the back of my mind that there's so many Horrors and fun stuff to be had with them. Like??? They can be characters??? They can be sentient and aware??? They can have their own names but ONLY if they're freed from the network??? (note that she mentions the xmas villain's long-lost daughter harriet, as the [why are you so evil? / i don't kneauuraeaough....but it definitely doesn't have anything to do with xyz] but no long-lost presumed dead spouse, who would've been already mentioned in the 2019 show at this point though that's no incontrovertible evidence it's not relevant in this show. & my hypothesis is that if melvin is a long-lost anyone, phyllidia would be His long-lost daughter. but 50/50 could go either way! a beautiful relationship ft. the convenience of all these colonoscopies he keeps scheduling)) and then we meet the fancy tree! and don't get around to singing until phyllidia's exit & the krampus's partial sendoff to go feel better having some snacks (i.e., mingle & meander)
