Hello all of you lovelies! ^^

For the second year Zexal Month will be hosted by only myself ( @wendymoto ). @yaminoamber has a big big work commitment IN FRANCE CAN YOU BELIEVE IT. Our lovely Amber will be ascended into French territory and won’t be back until December. She’ll have bits and pieces of internet, but work comes first! So please send Amber your wishes and luck. <3

Before I start the information, I would just like to mention that with each week, I will be holding a ‘Content Creator’s Showcase’. Information on how this works and how to ‘enter’ will be posted separately from this information post. Stay tuned!

For the moment we’ve all been waiting for, the ZEXAL MONTH INFORMATION.

This year I wanted to do things a bit differently to allow a lot more creative subjects. and because of this, weeks might look messy. Nevertheless I will learn from it if things don’t go as planned or if anyone has any concerns or ideas for next year, feel free to message me.

How you choose to contribute is entirely up to you.

For example, you could gif, draw, write, edit etc. The options are endless. Participating every day is not required!

Rules:

DO NOT REPOST ART FROM OTHER SITES WITHOUT PERMISSION. This includes artists on tumblr. Do not take their work without permission. These include sites that most reposted art are found. (E.g Paintbucket and sites like it, pinterest, instagram etc.)

Respect everyone’s work, headcanon etc.

Please respect any OC’s, fan characters, self inserts etc. Even if you don’t like them, they would mean the world to the creators. I’ll be tagging as ‘zexal oc’s’ if you would like to blacklist that.

Please tag ‘nsfw’ things as they are. Or triggers if you feel the need too.

Tuesday:

Design a new outfit DAY!

This is self explanatory. Pick characters and draw any and all outfits you like. Put them in some of your clothes if you want! Be as fashionable or as ridiculous as you like (This day was inspired by Yuuma in episode 9!)

Wednesday:

Different Characters who were not Barians or Astral beings as Barians or Astral beings E.g. Draw/write their past or a scene with other Barians/Astral beings.

Anyone who has thought of other characters as the Barian/Astral race, it’s your time to shine! You can use your imagination to experiment with design ideas, backstories, duels, scenes, headcanons and more.

ZEXAL imagines. (From the tumblr blogs)

Pick one of the examples from the 100+ imagines blogs and go with it. You don’t have to use these blogs, they are just examples. Please link to the post from the imagines that you choose.

As we know, many characters died in the last arc of Zexal. Today is a day to re-do their deaths in perhaps a more meaningful/impactful/traumatic way. Or if you prefer, plan the death of a character who didn’t actually die at all. How would that go? Let us know on Death Day!

Monday 7th - Sunday 13th

Monday:

YGO/YGO ZEXAL crossover Day! (Any Yu-Gi-Oh! series crossed with ZEXAL.)

This one is as simple as anything. Only rule is you’re combining Yugioh and Yugioh: whether it’s one of the other series, from Season 0 to VRAINS, or with one of the many YGO movies, anything goes!

Tuesday:

Card game crossovers Day. E.g. Vanguard, Magic of the Gather or even UNO.

Any other card game crossovers with ZEXAL that you would love to show off. This day is for you!

For extra convenience, I have found a Magical Card Anime and Manga list and a mass list of Card Games.

Wednesday:

Take your new/current fandom and ZEXAL and squish ‘em together!

FANDOM’S EVERYWHERE. Fandom’s that you’re in now crossed with ZEXAL. Squish ‘em together in one huge pile and display it for the world! Due to the fact that we already had days for them, other YGOs and Card Game Anime are excluded: pick another fandom for this day!

Thursday:

Question time! Any ZEXAL mysteries that weren’t solved that you wished were solved?

List, describe or show your headcanons for those mysteries if you have any.

Friday:

Free Crossover Day.

Any crossover with ZEXAL that you would like to make, plop them into a post and post it today!

Monday:

OC/Fan Character Day!

Feel free to do anything with your OCs on this day! Show and explain them. Draw them in an outfit, tell us what they do, what decks they use or if they do not duel. Anything goes with OC’s today!

Tuesday:

Self Insert Day.

This day is mostly an experiment for Zexal Month. I’ve recently seen plenty of fandom’s do these kind of things, so if you like the idea of this day, post as much as you like. Make it successful and I shall bring it back in coming years

If you’re looking for examples, you could write yourself talking to your favourite character about a certain thing. Maybe about another show/anime. Maybe yourself geeking out with Astral over Esper Robin/The Sparrow. Or just a drawing of yourself with your fav character.

Wednesday:

Different Protag Day. What do you think would have happened if somehow Yuma’s protag status was switched to someone else?

Any minor characters you think would be great as a Yu-Gi-Oh! protagonist. Writing, drawing, gifs, headcanons, etc.

Thursday:

Since it is Tasuku Hatanaka’s birthday today (HAPPY BIRTHDAY TASUKU HATANAKA.), on this lovely Thursday will be a tribute to anything and everything Yuuma.

Possibilities are endless with this one. Yuuma is in everything, shipping, AUs etc. Go for it. Favourite moments, things Yuuma inspired you about, Yuuma videos, fanfics, art and AU’s. Or if you would like to share any in real life Kattobingu life moments. Nows your chance!

Friday:

Wishes that you wanted to happen.

Things that you wish had happened that you would have loved that would have been great in canon.

A challenge is waiting for you all. I challenge you to not think about shipping and ships with this one. As much as the majority of you ship just about anything and the kitchen sink in ZEXAL, what things would be great in canon that doesn’t include shipping. For example, Yuuma’s parents being able to go back home and be with their family again.

If a ship was canon, how would it go?

Create all of your headcanons, imaginations, feels, into posts for the fandom to see!

Wednesday:

ZEXAL DUB DAY (All dubs, English, German, Italian etc.)

For anyone who loves these dubs, feel free to gif or write anything to do with these dubs. I myself have posted some English dub gifs in the past.

Here is also Eli Jay’s twitter if you would like to send him a nice message about the English dub.

A challenge to anyone who doesn’t really like it, to write ONE or more things that they do like about it. Whether it be a certain voice, a few lines or the fact that they kept Yuuma’s full name.

Thursday:

SUB DAY: (Anything subtitled related.)

Today is more like an appreciation for the original ZEXAL subtitled. E.g. Redrawing a scene/cap into your style.

If you did not participate last year, or you don’t really know what to do for today, you can use the information from Week 1 last year and put them all in a post.

Friday:

Palette day’s. Today and Monday.

Use this palette I created to create any artwork that you would like to do. If you want, you can mix any of the days up with this palette, such as, using the sub day to create art of your favourite characters using the palette here. Or mix it up with the next day as well. I hope you guys like the colours I chose too. Also I would like to thank @metalgeartachyon for helping me with good palette colours. Love you miz miz. :)

So I wanted to wait a while to process all of this before I talked about it just to throw out more ideas of what this could mean in terms of the series.

As I’m pretty sure you all know by now, we got a lot of info today about YGO 6th or as it has officially been announced as Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS. I’ve been seeing a lot of people throwing out ideas of how this is actually pronounced. Until I hear how it is actually pronounced by official English dubbers, since Zexal is pronounced two different ways, (English people pronounce it as “Zexal” instead of “Zeal” in Japanese) I’m just going to say it as “V-Rains” and sometimes “VRains” because of the Virtual Reality theme of the series.

We also got Yusaku’s VR form. Like many people have pointed out, it very much looks like Zexal and honestly, I don’t like it to much. The yellow and pink just don’t look good together and what the actual hell is his hair style (yes I know Yu-Gi-Oh has a thing for ridiculous hairstyles but this one takes the cake at the moment). I don’t know. I wasn’t a big fan of Yusaku’s original hairstyle when I first saw it but it grew on me so maybe this will as well. Plus it might look better animated so there’s that.

Outfit wise, it very much looks Tron-like with the black and yellow highlights. I wonder if everyone is going to have this kind of outfit just with different highlights? The highlight could be a team color which could be a thing in this.

We also get a first look at this series’s duel disk models which seems to have a similar theme to the ones in ARC-V and Yusaku even has one with a yellow blade similar to Yuya as well. We also have Yusaku’s hover board. It looks simple enough so I wonder if it will get upgraded as the series goes on?

Now onto his ace, Decode Talker, which seems to be a Warrior Type! So that would make this the third Warrior ace of a Protagonist. This thing’s design is sick but I don’t like how it appears to be a warrior. My biggest wish for this new series is to see underused Monster Types get Archetypes/Support for them so I was really hoping Yu-Gi-Oh would change up the format and his arc wouldn’t be a Spellcaster, Warrior, or Dragon though I am surprised they didn’t make it a Spellcaster to make 2 for 2 when it comes to the aces.

As for the monster itself, Decode Talker is an interesting name for it. Decode means “convert (a coded message) into intelligible language” or “a translation of a coded message” while Talker means “a person who speaks or converses, often in a specified way”. With that in mind, I think this monster is going to be some kind of code translator later on in the series or just a super hacker.

So with the ace revealed, what do I think Yusaku’s deck is going to be like now? Well I was placing my money on plants due to his last name but ace monster don’t also match the deck. Yusei used Warriors and Machines but his ace was a dragon and Yuya used all kinds of animals but his ace was a dragon as well. Yusaku could use Warriors, maybe machines as well due to the VR theme, but whatever type they are, I hope they look just as awesome as this guy.

Finally, we have this “thing” that is following Yusaku apparently. The article describes it as “Is it a monster? Or perhaps…!?". To me, it almost looks like it is a tiny Spellcaster duel spirit thanks to the hat looking similar to the Magicians but the way it talks about it, I’m thinking it could be a virus of some kind that is maybe trying to take over Yusaku’s program maybe?

Speaking of which, with all of this in mind, what do I think could happen in this series now? Well just like I said up above, I think someone at one point is going to try to take over Yusaku’s program in this cyber space. Maybe this is going to be his dark side? Someone taking over his cyber form or similar to Duel Monsters, someone trapped his mind in VR and uses his normal body to unleash hell?

I think this is going to play similar to DM with the Virtual ace where it is just going to be your mind teleported to VR and not your whole physical form but that still could happen.

There are a lot of shows that I have seen that have already done something like this so I can think of ways they can have this go. Some of these include Digimon, Sword Art Online (haven’t see this one personally but I know what it about), Bakugan (at one point), and the movies Tron and Spy Kids 3: Game Over. But honestly, if Vrains is going to be similar to any cyber space show, I would love to see it like

Holy crap, I love this show. For those of you that have seen it, you know what I’m talking about. For those of you that don’t, just go watch this show. You will be surprised at how creative and dark it can be at time (for calling out loud, the first episode had a giant freaking murderous teddy bear). If the writing is done right, I feel like Vrains and Code Lyoko can end up being very similar (we already got similarities already when you compare the two).

Anyway, similar to this show, I would love to see the main antagonist throughout the whole show be some kind of giant computer virus similar to X.A.N.A. I also would love to see Virtual Beings that were created in this world to be able to come to the real world along with having many different sectors (I would say more but I don’t want to spoil the people that haven’t seen this show (which again, WATCH!)

So anything else I like to say before I wrap this up. Well since VR appearances are a thing, I hope we get someone in a mask for the mystery factor or something who’s gender changes in VR (cross dressing elements are also fun (we could have this badass female duelist who duels as a boy in VR or the other way around for all we know).

2.3.2017 - Yu-Gi-Oh! Animate Cafe

On this episode of Duel Monsters...we went to the Yu-Gi-Oh 20th Anniversary held in Ikebukuro! This is my second time at a YGO themed cafe (the first was in Akihabara held by Adores; this one is hosted by Animate). The food was really good compared to other themed cafes I’ve been to. We also played a game (similar to the one I did at BSD cafe) where you hold up a card with the show you like (ex. Duel Monsters, Zeal, Arc-V, or 5DS) and the server randomly chooses a show. If you matched, you get to choose a free coaster! I got selected the first round with Arc-V but I lost the subsequent round ToT The other guests were so nice and cute and walked around asking others if they’d like to trade coasters/badges/keychain/etc. We traded our coasters 2 times to get our faves ^_^ Overall it was a very pleasant cafe experience!

You know it's kind of weird to me since I just went through a marthon catch up session with JJBA the differences between it and my marathon catch up session with One Piece. Like with JJBA I had this like need to consume it whole. I needed to know what happened next. I got to the latest chapter and was a bit like "....and now what...?" but with OP, while I do enjoy it, I just don't have that same zeal about it. Then again I've kind of always been that way with OP. It took me a while of collecting Shonen Jump (US) before I actually got around to reading it. I don't even know why. Like I love the characters deeply and I need to know what'll happen with them but sometimes it's like "and that's enough for now." It's weird.

Also, if I look back on other SJ manga, like there's Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z, both of which I had the extreme passion for (at least up until Cell Saga ended). I also had that same passionf or Prince of Tennis until its move to Akamaru Jump, Eyeshield 21, and Sket Dance. Then of course there are titles like Yu-Gi-Oh, Shaman King, Gintama etc...where I liked them, but not on the voracious level of JJBA or DB(Z). YGO though is kind of like OP in that I kind of had to take breaks except with YGO it was kind of the content was getting a bit too horror or sometimes gross for me.

Bleach and Naruto are kind of seperate cases because I stopped reading both of them around the time I stopped reading manga all together and by the time I got back to them, Naruto had ended and Bleach ended up ending about a year or so later. Yu*Yu*Hakusho also is kind of an outlier because I loved the anime and then kind of got distracted from the manga around the time I stopped reading manga all together and then never came back because I already knew the ending.

I'm curious what makes one title more !!! than another or why I mighht keep returning to titles even though I need breaks from them periodically for whatever crazy reason. I think if I can figure this out, it'll help me as a writer. That's what of what got me back into reading manga actually. I want to understand why I was consuming so much of it in high school since high schoolers are kind of the base of my target writing demographic.
