Implied Rape / and SA in WC
For fuck sales I'm sorry, but people who think that rape and sexual assault don't exist among warriors are complete morons. Somehow you can fathom the idea of pedophilia and grooming, and genocide and such other topics in the books, but someone's rape is where it's pushing the lines and that it's a stretch. You people are actually weird. So as a sexual abuse victim, I'm going to give my perspective on this because I'm actually sick of it.
To start, I want to say that rape will not always be outright forced. Coerced consent is rape. Pressured consent is rape. Befriending women for motives beyond an actual relationship and for just sex is rape because you are essentially leading through a process of desensitization, manipulation, and Coercion. And to add on using physically abuse to scare your victim into fulfilling your needs and this applies here considering Tom does just that.. Quite literally, it is a premeditated sexual assault.
Marital rape is a thing where they pressure or coerce their spouse into doing sexual deeds despite them not wanting to. In this case, Tom played the nice guy and pretended like he loved her until they got into a relationship so he could get sex out of her. Yes. These cats have sex because, quite literally, it is implied every time it says, "I'm expecting kits" or "I'm carrying kits."
They know what sex is. Though it's not explicit in nature,. He acts lovingly with the intent to desensitize her to the idea of him not being a bad person. His motive is to get kittens out of her because he can control her with them and only reveal his true colors once it happens. Tom had power over both turtle tail and Bumble, not only because of how much larger he was than them but also because they were in a marriage where she loved him too much to see him for what he was until after he made his intentions clear.
Turtle Tail: "How do you think it happened? I made a mistake. I missed you all so much. Tom seemed strong and friendly, I thought I could move on and make a new life with him. But when I realized I was expecting kits, he... he changed."
Gray Wing: "If he hurt you..."

I'm sorry, but this text seems very rapey. Call it a stretch if you'd like, but I could give less of a fuck, honestly. Tom had shown his true colors after he realized Turtle Tail was pregnant because he knew he could use their kits against her to control her. He kidnapped her for the purpose of controlling her and would've abused their kits regardless if Turtle Tail did not come back. Tom threatened not to tell Bumble and stated that he was beating her because Turtle Tail left.
In chapter two, when Turtle Tail returns, she notes that there is no father of her kits and that she does not want him involved in her life. She acknowledges that he is abusive and a bully who physically assaults her. I’m sorry, but if you still fail to see how a man who befriends a woman, who then goes on to spoon-feed her false facade and then uses the mate title to coerce her into having sex with him as not being rape, you are not very smart and lack genuine analytical skills. Yes, I get that Warriors is very terrible at hinting at the obvious, but this was a very clear message of domestic violence, coercion of rape, and premeditated sexual assault. It’s not a stretch because it is the literal reality.
To say that rape makes the series “too dark” while at the same time knowing that there are multiple groomers and pedophiles running around in the series is ridiculous.
And let’s not forget, slash, he used to be apart of the One Eyes group, and he was promised Star Flower as a wife. He physically restrains her and holds her down, getting on top of her and holding her captive while Clear Sky does absolutely nothing. And directly after that, he gets uncomfortably close despite being told to stop, licks her cheek, and is extremely creepy about it.
Unwanted touch is sexual assault, guys. Put on your thinking cap, because I know you’re smart enough to think. I have seen some imply that Yarrowleaf’s relationship with Nettle is implied to be a case of rape, and I disagree considering the circumstances in which the Shadowclan cats were living while in the kin. And imposter Bramblestar is hinted at with how much he kept her confide in her den and his overrate affection for her. He’s a canon groomer of Shadowsight and Bristlefrost so I wouldn’t put it past the Erin’s to try this shit.

Hemlockstream is a quiet, but caring cat. most warriors of shadowclan kinda forget she exists
Oleanderheart is hurt a lot by everything that happened. They are very timid and withdrawn to most cats in the clan, fearing theid dislike of them.
Lobeliabite is so angry at everything that happened that she decided to flee shadowclan, but not without a last fight with poor Oleander, leaving Lobelia with a small cut, but blinding Olly in one eye.
The story I have for these three is kinda vague, but Yarrow and Sleek arrived asking for shelter since Yarrow was expecting kits, their kits. Yarrowleaf was always truly in love with Sleekwhisker, but slowly began seeing Sleek for who she truly is, but not before they managed to be accepted in SkyClan. Sleekwhisker stole the kits and held Tawnypelt and them hostage, threatening to kill Tawny and take the kits, Her kits with her away from the clans. Rowanclaw died like in canon, the kits were reunited with Yarrowleaf, but things were definitely not going to be better now.
Yarrowleaf hurts whenever she sees Lobelia; she looks so much like her mother, who hurt her and betrayed everyone. She also can't take proper care of her other two kits ngl, but her family do try to swoop in (Sleek's side of the family have disowned the kits). Snowbird and Berryheart are at Yarrowleaf's side to take care of the kits, but bring a sentiment of shame in Yarrow. She (and Berry and Snow and the rest) betrayed the clan and these kits shouldn't have been born, she loved a cat who hurt her and these kits are as much her kits as they are the kits of her abuser.
Yarrow begins falling for Berryheart's points, joining her in the extreme conservatism in ASC, but her kits had to bear the heaviest load. all three were raised by a mother who struggled massively to even look at them, a judgemental aunt and a strict grandmother; it was never the best environment to grow in and they show it. Lobelia sought constant confrontation, was always acting out to gain attention, Oleander was meek and timid and didn't want to do anything, which annoyed Lobelia and Hemlock was just there in the middle, but more often than not choosing Oleander's side in arguments between the two siblings.
ngl, how ths kits manage to not fully rip appart before getting their warrior names is even a myserty to me, but the thing that fully sets things going is the time around TBC and ASC. Hemlock was one of the rare cats who were kinda on friendly terms with Shadowsight and she just wanted to support her poor friend. Lobelia, acting like a very mean bully to everyone, was mostly out to hurt Shadow whenever possible. things were on an awkward stalemate between the three siblings as things became more dangerous for everyone, but as soon as Ashfur was dealt with and the code changes began being rolled in the tensions became WORSE.
Lobelia is a contrarian; Lobelia wants what her family doesn't want, so the code changes themselves were not of interest to her, but being a pain to her family was definitely the point.
Oleander was still so chained to everything happening in their family. They want so badly to be seen as worthy by them that they will roll over for them in many ways. They definitely had a crush on a cat from another clan (reciprocated!!!), but would Never fight back against their family.
Hemlock again was just in the middle; avoiding conflict, doing the peacekeeping, being a bridge between both siblings, even if she didn't really like how far Lobelia was going.
eventually all three siblings had reached their breaking point. Lobelia was fed up with ShadowClan and everything and wanted to leave, Oleander didn't want to lose a part of their family and begged her to stay, but Lobelia refused. Oleander for physical, Lobelia fought back, Hemlock could only watch as Lobelia clawed Oleander's eye before running away.
both siblings know she's looking for Sleekwhisker; their infamous mother that the entire clan doesn't dare to speak of, but were always reminded of her existence by Lobelia. Lobo was always compared to her silently and she wanted to know who this cat, her mother, is to be such a hated figure to the clan.
Maybe if in ASC Sleekwhisker returns, it'd be because of Lobelia in this au, or maybe Lobelia would never want to return, hoping to find a better environment to live in at her own pace.

for their names I immediately knew I wanted plants; plants that are toxic to cats. I also dabbled a bit in floriography for added meanings.
Lobelia is a flower that means arrogance/malevolence. the name lobelia also always made me think of the Spanish word for wolf: "lobo" and it made me think of that one tumblr post of the black sheep who becomes a wolf since everyone treats them like one
Oleander means desire, but also caution; something that is dangerous. I also decided to listen to Oleander from Mother Mother because it kinda fits the vibe of whatever Olly has going on here.
Hemlock is one of The Poisonous plants. even used to kill humans, it's just a deadly plant in general.

I’ve made Starlingwing, Ferretclaw, and Pinenose siblings. They’re all apprentices around the same time so I thought it was fitting.
Pinenose has some tortie spots for genetics.
I’ve renamed Spikefur to Spikewhisker and his littermate is Kinkfur.
Redwillow and Scorchfur are apprentices around the same time so they are siblings now.
I’ve slapped Snowbird onto Poppytail’s (Tallpoppy’s) litter in TNP. Check out an extended family tree for them here with older branches.
I went ahead and made Weaselkit the full sibling of Lion, Birch, Puddle, and Slate.
Puddleshine is a calico now.

beenose went first. it was a foolish move, yarrowleaf thought, trying to run. darktail didn’t respond well to runners. her heart had sunk when darktail turned to her and gave the order. “you’re no traitor, are you yarrowleaf?” he’d said. she was afraid. beenose was afraid too. when it was over, yarrowleaf had spent hours alone in her den. mourning her sister. maybe mourning herself too
she had nothing but sympathy when it was dawnpelt’s turn. sympathy for dawnpelt. sympathy for juniperclaw and strikestone. but most of all, sympathy for sleekwhisker. for they were the same
she hadn’t been there for needletail. she searched for something in sleekwhisker’s eyes when she broke the news. all she caught was her own reflection. something welled up in her own eyes. but she couldn’t cry. not for a traitor
when it was darktail’s turn, she found herself lost. she was among strangers. she wanted to go home. her kits didn’t deserve to grow up here. so she left, with sleekwhisker at her side. she looked to sleekwhisker, into her eyes that had once more become mirrors. did they not deserve redemption?
she didn’t know when sleekwhisker’s turn had come. perhaps it was back with dawnpelt at the lake. perhaps it lay with needletail. perhaps it was just then, as sleekwhisker stole away her kits and the mirror faded away. sleekwhisker’s turn had come long ago. the mirror had given way to emptiness. or perhaps that was a mirror too. and maybe her turn had come and gone as well
juniperclaw’s turn came soon after. she remembered how he’d been back before it all. so desperate for approval. perhaps that’s what drove him then. the approval of his clan. the approval of his leader. the approval of the stars. he got none of it in the end. and his brother had turned his back. and down he went into the water with all the rest
she sat with strikestone in front of a tree. they didn’t say anything as they placed down flowers. perhaps they didn’t need to say anything. they both understood in their silence. it was grief beyond words

Do you have any headcanons for Snowbird and Smokefoot's other litters with Cloverfoot, Berryheart, etc?
Yes!! Their first litter is Ivytail and Owlpaw, while their second litter is Cloverfoot, Berryheart, Yarrowleaf, and Ripplepaw. They have a bad track record with sons unfortunately. Ripplepaw doesn't die though - he just leaves to become a kittypet during Po12 after deciding clan life wasn't for him.
Their second litter of gals all are quite important in their own ways though! Definitely very prominent figures I've enjoyed playing with.
Cloverfoot becomes Dawnstar's deputy. She's a very hardworker, a workaholic who tries to juggle everything without asking for help. She doesn't like to let others know she's struggling, but that's also because she herself doesn't realize when she's struggling. She carries the weight of the world on her shoulders without breaking a sweat, though it's incredibly unhealthy for her. She has to learn as deputy that it's ok to ask for help and that she shouldn't be expected to do everything perfectly. I don't plan for her to ever take a mate, but she's not ace either. Just not something she really wants or needs.
Berryheart is rather snobbish and entitled. She's a fierce cat with a sharp tongue, but highly respected for how she carries herself. I'm still navigating her arc in A Starless Clan since we don't know how it all wraps up, so I'm waiting on her xenophobia and the specifics of it. I somewhat like the idea of her being incredibly hypocritical and choosing only the ones she likes as "exceptions" to her dislike for outsiders. Like the way racist people can claim to have their "one black friend" as if that means they don't have a problem. I see her as a bitch who fights hard for what she believes in, whether that be good or bad. She's someone I'm not totally confident writing though yet when she's such a prominent character in the current arc and we're learning more about her. That'll really decide my final characterization I think.
Yarrowleaf is older when she actually has her kits with Nettle, to make that much less weird. This litter is born mid Po12 after all. She is a diligent mother to Hopwhisker and Flaxfoot, being protective after her experience with their father. She's extremely close with her sister Berryheart.
