Yami watched as the young woman trained in front of the Black Bulls hideout. She had been training for hours on end, and when she wasn’t training it was like she was showing off her other skills. She challenged Vanessa to a drinking contest, Magna and Luck to a sparring match, and even challenged Charmy to a cooking competition!
The strangest thing of all though, was the way she challenged Charlotte Roselei to all of those things as well. It was like she had been practicing with the Bulls just so she could challenge Charlotte.
“ Hey Finral,” Yami suddenly called out as he turned away from his girlfriend to look at the Spatial mage. “ What’s going on with her?”
“ Oh,” Finral said as he looked out the window as well. “ Well, to be honest, I think she’s feeling a little, erm, self-conscious.”
“ ‘Self-conscious’? About what?” Yami asked with a confused frown, he had never known her to be that way. Finral suddenly looked sheepish and scratched the back of his head.
“ I think…it has to do with Captain Roselei’s crush on you, Captain.” Finral said nervously and that only made Yami’s confusion grow.
“ The Prickly Princess has a crush on me?”
“ You didn’t know?!” Finral asked in surprise before nodding. “ Yeah that tracks to be honest.” He muttered under his breath and Yami glared at him.
“ What did you say, Hot Wheels?”
“ N-Nothing Captain Yami sir!” Finral said quickly and nervously before changing the subject. “ A-Anyway! I think that’s what has her acting this way, she’s feeling competitive and self-conscious with Captain Roselei.”
“ Well that’s stupid.” Yami muttered with a shake of his head. “ They’re two completely different people with different skill sets and personalities. So I don't know why she’s trying to compete when there’s no competition.”
“ Sir?” Finral asked with a confused frown before he watched Yami walk out of the hideout and go towards his girlfriend.
Yami watched as she shot another spell at the tree and whistled in an impressed fashion.
“ That was a good shot, but I don’t think the tree appreciated it.” Yami said as he watched the woman take a deep breath and put her grimoire away.
“ Yeah well the tree had it coming,” She joked as she walked over to her cantine and took a sip of water. “ What are you doing here? Didn’t you have a mission with Finral?”
“ I pushed it back a bit, Wheels is tired from taking the other brats to town earlier.” Yami explained with a shrug before he crossed his arms. “ Anyway, Finral told me why you’re training so hard, he said you’re trying to compete with Prickly Princess.”
“ That loud mouth,” The woman muttered as she glared at the Hideout before letting out a sigh. “ I’m not competing with her per se-.” She began but Yami cut her off.
“ Good, because there’s no competition between you two.” Yami said firmly, and the woman looked up at him as her heart sank. She knew what he was going to say, and so she closed her eyes and braced herself for his words.
“ Because you always come out on top in my opinion.”
The woman’s eyes shot open and looked up at him, he had a big grin on his face and he reached out to pat her head gently. She was very confused, in his opinion, she outranked Charlotte Roselei? How did that make any sense?
“ You both have different personalities and skill sets, and as much as I like Charlotte, I like you a lot more. You’re brilliant, kind, determined, you treat me as an equal and you’ve never talked down to me or judged me because I was a foreigner.” Yami said as he patted her head again. “ You push me to be a better man and Captain, and you always have my back when I need it most.”
“ So, stop comparing yourself to Charlotte and stop being so self-conscious. Because at the end of the day, I’m in love with you, got that?” He asked and he watched a smile appear on the woman’s face.
“ Yeah I got it,” The woman said with a nod. “ I’m sorry I’ve been acting…weird about it lately. I just let everything get to me.”
“ It’s not your fault, and I should be the one apologizing. Honestly I shoulda noticed it sooner and realized that it was because of Charlotte. I’ll talk to her about her crush when I see her tomorrow, so don’t worry.” Yami said firmly as he walked over and stood beside her. “ C’mon let’s go get something to eat.”
The woman nodded and the couple walked back up to the Hideout.

Some days when you both have not much planned in the day, Yami would not get out of bed before noon time.

Gender-neutral reader, you/yours
William Vangeance
The one who doesn't let it show.
William won't act like your relationship doesn't exist, but he definitely won't let it interfere or affect work either.
He might subtly be nicer towards you, but it won't be much of a change.
Maybe the occasional soft smile when you do a mission well or pairing you to work with him for smaller things like patrols.
He is a man who believes in balance, which is why even if he might treat you like just another knight during work, he does enjoy spending time with you after everyone's clocked off.
This can be as simple as having you lounge around his office while he finishes up paperwork or calling you to his chambers/going to your room so the two of you can chat and just hang out.
Sometimes when there is a particularly risky mission William might be hesitant to send you to that place, however, this can easily be fixed with a bit of reasoning and promises to be safe.
He definitely doesn't give you promotions or anything based on your relationship with him, but if you are genuinely strong he won't hesitate to do so.
William's also quick to shut down any rumours or snide comments towards you. Anyone in his squad who even thinks about saying you only got in/are at the position you are because the two of you are together should think twice.
Yami Sukehiro
Yami isn't one to change the way he treats you because of your relationship, but he might tweak his behaviour toward you.
He understands that he needs to find a balance between the times he is your partner and when he is your squad captain, however, considering his laidback attitude, this doesn't really change things between you.
He isn't the kind to be overly affectionate or like PDA, but he might be a little kinder to you than the rest.
Like he'll let you use Finral from time to time. Or he'll give you lesser chores than the others.
Yami would also prefer keeping you with him during missions or trips, but if you have a certain team that you like working with he won't force you to be paired with him.
Unlike William, he's more open to letting you go into dangerous situations. It worries him, but as long as he knows you can handle yourself Yami will let you do your job.
However, the down side of this is that when he knows your enemy/task is too risky and you won't be able to handle it, Yami will be very stubborn and not allow you to do it, instead choosing to do it for you.
Yami is a fun captain, which is why you can expect outings and domestic fun with him and the rest of the squad.
Would probably make your room always next to or across from his. The same goes for your seat at the table.
Fuegoleon Vermillion
Unlike the others, Fuegoleon might be more affected by the fact that you are his partner.
It's more so his attitude than his treatment that changes.
While Fuegoleon still treats you as he does his other squad members, his attitude towards you takes a bit of a shift, being more affectionate than he would to anyone else.
His affection is more subtle, things like helping tend to your wounds after a mission or training, holding your hand during patrols, etc.
Fuegoleon also seeks you out more often than he otherwise would, choosing to ask your advice on certain things or just keeping you by his side while he does paperwork.
If you ever bring up the new differences he might get a little distant because he thinks it's a bad thing, but a little conversation can change that.
Overall, Fuegoleon isn't shy to show the world that the two of you are together.
Nozel Silva
He's the type to not let your relationship affect your roles in the squad, making it seem like nothing has changed between the two of you.
However, Nozel can completely flip if and when you get hurt, in an argument, or just overall any situation that makes him feel like you need his assistance.
He won't hesitate to let people know that you are his partner. It's not that he doesn't want your relationship to be public or anything, but just that he has moments where he's your squad captain and moments where he's your partner.
Nozel can be stricter about this than the others, however, he also has his soft moments.
Things like dropping off bouquets in your room after particularly hard missions, holding your hand in crowds or whenever he feels a problem arise, and even giving you good morning and goodbye kisses on your forehead or cheek.
He is more than happy to use his siblings to help the two of you get some alone time between the day, and often makes it a habit to check in on you at least once every day.
At first, it might seem like Nozel is embarrassed by your relationship or wants to hide it, but he's actually too oblivious romantically to realise it comes off as that way.
Conversation is key with him.

Hiya anon! Of course, now my knowledge of Kitsune is limited but I know a lot about Gumiho’s (which are Korean Nine Tailed foxes) and from what I know they’re pretty similar 🤔. So hopefully you enjoy it! Also these HC’s are based on how Nacht and Yami met their Kitsune S/O’s!

Yami:
• Just happened to see you caught in a trap in the woods one day. He asked if you needed help but you told him no and that you could get out of it yourself.
• After multiple failed attempts you finally sighed and told him you needed help. Without another word Yami pulled out his katana and cut the trap and stood underneath it in order to catch you.
• You thanked him and explained how and why you were caught in the trap when Yami asked about it. You told him that you were a Kitsune and when he looked even more confused you explained that it was basically a Nine Tailed Fox.
• Which of course you had to explain to him again, and you showed him your tails. He was curious and intrigued, until you told him that now you owed him for saving your life and that Foxes always repaid their debts. When he asked what that meant you explained to him that it meant that until you were able to repay your debt you would have to follow him around.
• Yami would be confused but understood. So he threw a spare Black Bulls robe at you and welcomed you to the squad, if you had to follow him around you might as well make yourself useful!
Nacht:
• Nacht would stumble across you as you were being chased by a group of hunters. Ofc you were in your fox form at the time so that's what the hunters assumed you were. Just as you were cornered and about to be captured did Nacht appear.
• He quickly dispatched the hunters after they all had words with each other. He wasn’t usually one to meddle in other people's business, but considering the hunters were ignorant and were only chasing you because Nine Tailed Foxes were bad luck he decided to interfere.
• After taking care of them he quickly scooped you up into his arms and began walking through the woods with you until you were a good enough distance from them that you could easily escape. After he set you down and began to walk away, did you change into your human form.
• You quickly began to follow after him, and after a few minutes did Nacht ask in an annoyed tone why you kept following him instead of going your own way. You quickly explained that you had no choice, that he was now your life saver and that you owed him. Nacht told you to forget it but you explained that you couldn’t, that Foxes always kept their promises and repaid their debts. So you had no choice but to follow him until you could repay your debt.
• Nacht would sigh in annoyance before he would finally agree to let you follow him. But only on the condition that you not become a hindrance. You would agree and make him promise the same, Nacht would laugh and would say that the two of you would get along just fine.

SNIPPIT TIME
Behind the scenes, I'm working on the first chapter of my Circus story. And just wanted to share a snippit, because who doesn't love dense Yami and hopeless Charlotte.
The entrance to the main building of the magical knights came into view. At the large stone archway, Nozel and Dorothy stood talking. Quickly Charlotte looked around, were the others already there? She saw no one else, though there was only one man she thought of. She was lying to herself if she will say she was looking out for all the captains.
Alongside her hopped Rill, happy and cheerful as he always was, the young captain always full of energy. However, her heart skipped a beat when she heard the bickering of two familiar voices. Jack the Ripper and him, Yami Sukehiro captain of the Black Bulls, the man she had fallen in love with with a look.
Ice cold and controlled, she cast a glance in the direction of the arguing men. "Can you men ever act in moderation? The whole courtyard doesn't need to witness any of your vulgar bickering." No, no, cried Charlotte in her head. Did she just now pronounce this so bitchy to Yami. Okay he's going to hate her.
"Hahaha," sounded full of fun. Yami placed his right hand against his chest. "Look our sunshine is here too, say prickly can it hurt to let loose once in a while?"
She turned away from him and bit her lip. She fought against the heat on her cheeks. Why couldn't she act normal towards him and say how she felt? She heard Sol yell something more to Yami, but the man seemed to ignore her subordinate and started discussing something about gambling with Jack again.
It was Nozel who came up beside her and called to the group of captains, "Come everyone. The meeting is about to start. And Jack, Yami, tone it down, we're not in a pub."
Everyone turned around and to her shock, Yami came walking up beside her. Charlotte did her best not to glance at him. He gently leaned toward her and whispered softly. "It's all right though, I'll be irritated too if I was you."
"What?" Charlotte looked straight up, her gaze forward. What could he be talking about?
The smoke from his cigarette stung her nose. Those things were so gross, but when Yami smoked he looked so sexy. No, no, Charlotte keep your mind in check she spoke sternly to herself. Yami spoke, "That helmet, it must be super warm. I really don't understand why you wear it on a hot day like today. I saw your face, it got all red and stuff."
"My helmet is not warm," she growled. Charlotte balled her fists. His hand unexpectedly slapped her shoulder and his laughter echoed down the hallway. Defeated, she lowered her head again. Why, she wondered softly.
The door to the conference room was open. Marx was waiting, happily relieved of this uncomfortable moment.

All of a sudden, a man with a tall stature emerged and grabbed the guys shoulder squeezing it. The old man winced and let go of you, turning to the man he said, “Aye! What the fuck is your problem man?!” The tall guy displayed a scary face and responded with “My problem? You gotta be joking.”
You could hear whispering in the background and then someone said “That’s captain Yami! Don’t they know not to mess with him? How stupid can they be…” Captain Yami? Ohh the black bulls, no wonder he looked familiar.
The old man skidaddled away into the dark and Yami turned to you “You gotta be careful next time.” “Well sorry Mr. Captain but I can’t control those little shits.” You remarked. Yami laughed out loud and dropped his cigarette stomping on it soon after. “You’re funny.” He said smirking at you which lowkey looked kinda hot- 😶 “Oh, aren’t you that girl who defeated that guy instantly the other day? What a small world.” Yami said which surprised you. “Is that who was watching me..” you sweatdropped.
“Let me get to know you better.” He said in a serious but playful tone. “What, why?” “Why not?” “I asked you first.” “You’re hot.” “Eh-?!” Well shit 💀 you weren’t expecting that. “Fine. Pick me up at 8pm.” “Deal.” That day you went home giggling to yourself, your family members were looking at you like you were crazy.

"Heh. Can't get enough of my guns babe?" He flexed even harder when you sunk your teeth into them.
Yami is like a man of steel, he does not feel pain with a mere human bite. Even if you did accidentally drew blood once, he didn't even flinch.
"Oh my god! Sorry baby! You're bleeding!" you quickly took a tissue to wipe his shoulder.
"Eh? I don't feel anything though?" He tried to look over his shoulder to see it for himself. "It's not painful at all baby."
He finds it hilarious whenever you're frustrated at him and you bite him, "baby, you're like a little maltese that's being all fierce but you're just looking cute."
He shows off your bite marks to William and Julius. "See how much this girl loves me."
Fuegoleon Vermillion
"Are you teething, my love?" he looked at you, confused.
When you asked if it was painful, he simply raised his brows at you, "it feels more like a tickle, love."
This man does not look like Yami but he's made of dragon scales, you're pretty sure of it.
He thinks of it simply as a way you show your affection, since it doesn't hurt him, he doesn't care, although salamander judges you two at times.
Just once, you try to bite salamander too, on his ears and this dragon bellows fire and glares at you. He wonders why his owner does not feel the pain.
Fue will just pat your head without saying anything whenever you bite him, he thinks it's you asking for his attention. And whatever his lady asks for, he delivers.
William Vangeance
He's strong, but he'll flinch a little when you bite his thighs, it's just his sensitive spot.
He'll still smile his affectionate smile at you and let out a little huff, as though he does not know what to do with you.
He understands it's just your way of showing affection to people you're close with, but it actually hurts sometimes and he'll pinch your cheeks when it does.
"You behave like a mischievous kitten, darling." he'll give you a look of adoration.
One day he bites you back and you yelp a little, pouting at him while looking at the little bite mark he left. He'll plant a kiss back in return. It's now your couple thing.
Nozel Silva
Absolutely glares at you like : the heck are you doing? When you did it for the first time in public.
It is OF COURSE unbecoming of a royal. He asks you "What is it, y/n?"
And when you give him a little sheepish grin, telling him it's nothing, he goes back to whatever he was doing without saying anything else.
So you never did it to him again, until one day when he saw that you did that to your bestie, Kirsch, and you laughed when Kirsch yelped so loudly, it made his heart itch a little inside.
One day when you were both alone, he raised his forearm in front of you all of a sudden. You looked at him confused.
"If you like to do it to show your affection then you can do it... only in private."
And he low key enjoys looking at your bite marks, he thinks your teeth are cute.
