where i think the top gun 2 characters grew up

Bradley Bradshaw / Rooster: Texas, born and raised.

Natasha Trace / Phoenix: Born in California. Has lived in every single state for at least six months except for, ironically, Arizona. Refuses to ever return to Minnesota. It Knows What It Did.

Jake Seresin / Hangman: Born in Texas, grew up going to boarding schools on the East Coast with all the other kids from old money families. Spent summers and holidays at his family’s houses in the Hamptons, Chiantishire, and the south of France.

Robert Floyd / Bob: Born in Wisconsin, moved around the Midwest a lot and was always the new kid. Prefers cheese to beer any day of the week and feels most at home in a cornfield.

Javy Machado / Coyote: Born and raised in Louisiana, New Orleans specifically. Never left the state before joining the Navy. Refuses to accept any version of the French language that isn’t Louisiana French.

Reuben Fitch / Payback: Born and raised in South Carolina. Would kill a man for pimento cheese.

Mickey Garcia / Fanboy: Born in Florida, grew up in New York. Proudly refers to himself as the eponymous Florida Man™️.

Callie Bassett / Halo: Born in New York, grew up in California. Refuses to take a side in the West Coast vs East Coast debate. Whichever side of the country she happens to be on is the best one.

Neil Vikander / Omaha: Born and raised in Nebraska. Actually grew up in Lincoln and went to UNL (go Cornhuskers!), but there was already a Lincoln and a Husker in his squadron, so Omaha he became.

Brigham Lennox / Harvard: Born in Utah, grew up in Massachusetts. Must pronounce his callsign in the Southie style before he acknowledges you.

Logan Lee / Yale: Born and raised in Connecticut. Harvard was his dream school, but he got waitlisted and ended up at Yale. Has boycotted the entire state of Massachusetts ever since.

Billy Avalone / Fritz: Nobody knows. As far as the Navy is concerned, Fritz just showed up on a carrier one day, climbed into the cockpit of an F-18 and the rest is history. Fritz encourages all the rumors and feeds people different rumors of his origins because he’s a dramatic bitch. (The longest-running rumor is that Fritz is the eponymous Florida Man™️. Fritz does not deny this in the slightest.)

I’ve come to the conclusion:

Yale was a pretty average college kid w/ a small group of friends and just wanted to graduate for his parents and wished to travel

Harvard was a beach born frat boy who knew everyone, but never had real friends and just wanted to be accepted socially

Slow burn, friends to lovers, beach bonfire and late talks, I could go on and on bro.

already got macheresin but u know what i also was having some yale/harvard thoughts the other day so sure i'll do the ask meme for them :D

who’s the cuddler: both of them. they also both pretend they are only doing it for the other's benefit.

who makes the bed: also both of them. depends on which one of them leaves bed last.

who wakes up first: harvard. he's an ungodly obnoxious morning person.

who has the weird taste in music: yale, but only because harvard has the most basic white boy taste in music of all time. he thinks coldplay are hardcore.

who is more protective: yale. he'll throw down for his WSO any day of the week.

who sings in the shower: yale. he's appalling. harvard thinks it's cute.

who cries during movies: harvard, but like the LAST movies you'd expect a normal person to cry during. schindler's list? nothing. jaws? full on waterworks - but when the shark dies.

who spends the most while out shopping: depends on what they're buying, but usually it's yale. he tends to go overboard.

who kisses more roughly: yale.

who is more dominant: i think it's pretty even, actually? (in personality harvard is like a touch more dominant though)

my rating of the ship from 1-10: 8/10? i like them but i wish they got more screentime so i could devote more brain-time to the ship lol

Top Gun in Color Event Sign-up!

Ready to celebrate Top Gun characters of color? Have a Fanback fic idea brewing? Always imagined there was a little more going on between Javy and Jake? Think Hondo needs a little TLC? This event is for you!

This is a POC-focused Top Gun event. Fic, art, and other creations are welcome. All creations must focus on at least one character who is a POC. The work may be romantic, platonic, or a single-character study.

The minimum word count for fic is 500 words and the minimum contribution for art is a black and white sketch.

Sign-ups run through March 17th at 10 pm ET and submissions will be published to the collection May 3rd - May 6th.
