Hello everyone! :) I recently followed two artists who've been on Tumblr for a while. I discovered them only by chance, because people I follow reblogged their stuff at some point (see the importance of reblogging? :D). And I thought 'What a pity, I wish I knew they existed before!'. This is how I started thinking about creating another blog. Some kind of adress book if you like. What I hope to achieve with this TG/TGM sideblog (yet to be created, but I'm figuring things out) is to give people the chance to make themselves known in one same place, and thus to allow them to seek similar people creating content they could possibly like, or even to be curious and go check totally new content! :)

By content, I mean Art - Fic Rec - Fics - Gif/Gifset - Moodboard - Playlist - Podfic - Other (Then specify 🤗) I don't see myself hunting down Tumblr people, so I created this form to gather information in a more organised and accurate way. (This form may change in the future to better suit the way I intend to run this sideblog.)

I've never done something like this before, so I beg of you patience and understanding! I do this because Top Gun & Top Gun Maverick Fandoms have bewitched me body and soul.... I am, after all, an awkward bean who loves planes in the sky, and movies about planes and pilots in the sky! (Warning. I'm going to abuse tags here to reach as many people as possible. But if you're interested in what I'm trying to achieve, share please? 💕💕💕)

We do not talk about Hondo crying when Mav and Rooster get shot down enough

Mav definitely told Hondo all about Bradley, i know this man talks about Bradley whenever he can he loves that kid (adult in his mid to late 30s). I feel like Hondo is one of the very few people Mav has told the story of him pulling Bradleys papers to, Hondo knows Mavs history. So when Mav gets shot down and Bradley goes back for him Hondo knows what Mavs gonna think of that. I think Hondo wants to believe Mavs still alive thats why he says “mavericks still out there” but deep down he probably knows theres not a good chance he made it even if he is Maverick and for Bradley to go back for him and get killed trying to save him, he understands how hard that is. He’s losing his best friend but his best friend is losing his son.

I remember you mentioning you liked Mav and Hondo’s relationship and I was so happy to see Hondo be very supportive of Mav and never condescending. When Mav tells him if he never sees him again, it’s been an honor serving with him, you can see a ton of emotion on Hondo’s face before they say their goodbyes. GooseMav and HondoMav were truly validated canonically and I’m just living for it.

god I KNOW. Hondo is so good and I'm glad Mav has such a good friend in him. tho what Mav says is that if he doesn't see Hondo again, then thank you. and then Hondo says it's been an honor serving with him. you get the sense that Hondo has been there with Mav through a lot, and Mav does not ever take it for granted. and the main thing he wants Hondo to know is how grateful he is to have Hondo in his life. and Hondo letting him know that it's an honor, all of it, all the things they've been through and all the things Hondo was there for him for, that it was all an honor, and god, that must mean so much to Mav.

when Mav gets shot down, Hondo is visibly shaken, and then he cries when Rooster gets shot down, too. it's like he was holding back his emotions and then hearing that they lost Rooster too makes him break. godd i just. love Hondo so much. SO much.

Hondo is the first person Mav hugs after returning. he's the only person other than Rooster that Mav hugs. they both care about each other so much. i love them.

Penny and Maverick seemed more like the settled type like they already knew e/o so there wasn’t this big drama like there was with Charlie at least onscreen. I can’t say if they’re forever but then again I can’t fully see Maverick with any existing canon or au ship forever so that could be just a me thing. Maybe because I feel he’d be fine single. I am intrigued by the idea of Mav with either Warlock or Hondo however 👀

you're valid! personally, i just didn't think penny and mav meshed well with each other - but she was so so much better for him than charlie was, so she gets many points for that in my book. i tend to ship based on how well the characters would be for each other in the long run, so while i can see (and also am fine with) mav single, i ship him with ice (have known each other the longest, wingmen forever, great chemistry), hondo (clearly best friends for a long time, great vibes, can be chill together), and warlock (have some history with one another but very much respect each other, have a similar sense of humor, etc.).
