I think why a lot of people will look at Xros Wars and Hunters and be turned off by it is the fact the characters feel almost too simplistic especially in their introductions but I think it speaks volumes for all of their cast in general that characters like Tagiru and Taiki end up being so simple

Tagiru and Taiki as characters are meant to be very simple driven people who want to accomplish goals that any audience can understand and empathize with and their development comes mostly from their interactions with those around them and the binds they build. I think what also really sums up their characters and the themes of these stories well comes from the opening themes themselves. A lot of opening songs will always contain a lot of thematic relevance but specifically in Xros Wars and Hunters I feel that it's the most prevalent.

While "Butterfly" is an amazing song, putting it simply, it has a general tone of light hearted adventure that matches Adventures tone for the most part and this can be said for 02, Tamers, etc. But the way "Never Give Up", "New World", and "Stand Up!" all work for their respective cores adds another layer of complexity for these seasons that I think goes overlooked.

The first core of Xros Wars is supposed to be a bit fast and show off a lot of the new Digital World and show the bonds that Team Xros Heart and their passion for their friends and protecting peace and the song matches that perfectly. The upbeat tone, the preview leading up to the song, and the overall show match this and represent it in such a strong way that it's hard to imagine another song taking its place. Even if Taiki is beat up, even if Akari wants to give up and go home, even if Zenjirou feels useless, even if Shoutmon gets knocked down and told he can't be the Digimon King, they'll never give up on their dreams or the people they've met on their journey because they believe in a future where everyone can laugh together, cry together, and make all sorts of new friends.

I could go on about the other songs but I might make that its own post for now because this is long enough as is.

My point is that Xros Wars and Hunters is a lot better than what others will tell you because of the simple but enjoyable stories that exist.

Genuine question, what inspired you to start writing Project Illuminati?

Hi, sorry to reply so late^^'! Honestly, you could say that the Xros Wars/Hunter anime itself inspired me. The Hunter season was, yes, a filler, but one that had a lot of potential. I personally really enjoyed watching the new episode of the anime every weekend. Also counting that I like to link in one way or another all the fanfic I write, so to further develop the plot of PI I could include elements from my other fanfic (Phoenix Feathers, Merchant Trips) that although they are from another series DIFFERENT from digimon, it could complement it^^. Another thing that inspired me is the HUGE amount of digimon fanfic that are ONLY ROMANTIC and more focused on Adventure and 02 ><'. Note, I'm not saying that it's bad that there are romance fanfics… but that they're almost all the same… and that the digimon don't have any personality/importance… I wanted to do something different. And I very much doubt that there was going to be a fanfic based on Hunter, especially in Spanish. And the fact that the story has been so well received and has so many readers (especially foreigners^^!) continues to amaze me and makes me very happy x3!!
