Princess Agents (or not exactly TLOS v.1)
Oh. My. Goodness. This is not TLOS, despite the main leads being played by the same actors. This is probably the only common denominator between the two dramas.
Anyway, I think it’s a good thing that I’m only watching this drama now because I know there’s “The Legend of Shen Li” to fall back on for any PTSD (that’s “post-traumatic stress from drama” for me) I may suffer because of it.
Again, I say that though the leads here are portrayed by the same actors as TLOS, their characters, personalities and values could not be any more different. Hence, there is no character whiplash for me or any overlap that may confuse me between them.
Yuwen Yue, Lin Gengxin’s PA character, is more detached, calculating and ruthless than Lord Xingzhi. At least with Xingzhi, you can feel his underlying warmth and compassion behind his godly aura. He can still laugh or smile, whereas Yue’s face is almost always an unreadable mask. The only hint of any emotion is the slight rising of his eyebrows or a narrowing of his eyes.
Zhao Liying’s Xiaoliu/Xing’er is just as ruthless as Shen Li can be, and every bit as formidable a fighter. However, Shen Li is more upright and highly principled, while Xing’er has the selfishnesss and fluid morality borne out of poverty and constant oppression. Xing’er has a very cynical view of life compared to Shen Li.
PA feels more intense to me than TLOS and the emotions involved are heavier. I swoon and thrill at the romance between Xingzhi and Shen Li, while my heart aches terribly for Yue and Xing’er.
(On a side note, Lin Gengxin looks a lot younger in TLOS and much more ethereally handsome.Zhao Liying was almost plain-looking as Xing’er and very young, but as Shen Li, she was more mature and gorgeous.)

Zhuming Family HCs
I have so many thoughts and headcanons for baby Yingxing, Huaiyan, Ardens Regia, and Baiheng and I can’t wait for myself to be finished writing the first chapter so here’s some headcanons that may or may not appear/get mentioned in the fanfiction I have planned going over Yingxing’s life
Huaiyan personally found Yingxing and took him in, think similar to Cloud Knights against the Borisin readable. While I don’t think it’s about them, I’m using it to inspire how they meet and why Huaiyan takes him in !
Sometimes Huaiyan needs to travel away from the Zhuming for different matters regarding his position and duty and wherever he goes, Yingxing is brought with him. He uses these trips as teaching opportunities whether for the methods and techniques the different ships use or where they stand in regards to their technological advancements in comparison to the Zhuming. This is how Yingxing ended up interested in the Luofu before he settled there.
Ardens Regia has made a point of going around the different workshops once night has fallen and the day has ended on nights when he isn’t too busy (which isn’t the most often but). This is because he had once caught Yingxing, around the time he first arrived on the Zhuming, working WAY past his bedtime and urged the boy to go back to his quarters.
Some nights when he is free to make his rounds of the workshops, Yingxing has already passed out at his work station. In those cases, Ardens Regia will find something to cover him with at least.
Ardens Regia used to be incredibly intimidating to Yingxing, like the boy would flinch and get stiff everytime he came into the room. Huaiyan finds it funny since he himself can’t see Ardens Regia as scary given how long they’ve spent together.
Huaiyan!! With beautiful rust colored hair, perhaps with lighter brown bits mixed in!! And Ardens Regia with long, curly black hair!!
Ardens Regia when he has free time likes to make little crafts, whether via small pieces of metal he welds together using his own flame or even some glassblowing which he only does on the rare nights he has some flexibility. Huaiyan has a few little trinkets from him, mostly older things he had crafted when he was first starting the hobby. Eventually both Yingxing and even Baiheng end up with small things from Ardens Regia.
Baiheng ends up coming to the Zhuming quite a few times over the years after her initial time, and she grows close not only with Yingxing but with Master Huaiyan quite a bit too. She isn’t very close to Ardens Regia as they don’t find themselves talking much, but she feels at ease when he is near rather than shift and scared like she had thought she would be in the presence of the Zhuming’s High Elder
The only possession Yingxing had with him from his home other than the clothes on his back was a small delicate music box from his mother that was a little beaten up and would play a lovely lullaby she used to sing to him and his older sister every night.
The music box doesn’t play as well anymore, but Yingxing can still sing it and remembers the lyrics. Baiheng hears him humming it one day and asks him to teach her the song. Later on the days she stays on the Zhuming from time to time, she would sing him to sleep with that same lullaby.
My headcanon for Yingxing’s family is that he had him, his mom, his father, and then an older sister. With both his mother and sister gone, this is why he becomes so attached to Baiheng, with her in a way filling both of those roles for him.
Both Huaiyan and Ardens Regia keep some form of contact with Yingxing and Baiheng even after the two of them have gone to the Luofu
I have much more headcanons and am thinking up more but this is what I have for now :D!!
Oh additionally, the three of them will be very annoying in-laws, not like omg toxic but very silly and teasing and absolutely annoying.
You may think Huaiyan would be like the teasing in-law, but nope! It’s Ardens Regia. That man giggles, HE GIGGLES, when he communicates with hologram with Yingxing one day and realizes the High Elder of the Luofu has become rather taken with Yingxing, makes a comment of Yingxing seeming to have a talent for charming those of the Vidyadhara. And he very seriously asks that Dan Feng keep an eye on that boy, lest he lose him too soon.
I love this found family I have created in my head, they mean so much to me. Once I finish doing some more writing and actually focusing, it’s all over. I will be so annoying about them trust me

actually, while i’m on the track of i lack context for this.
i get that both a’ and ‘er are... diminutives? like nicknames of a sort, but is there any particular reason why some people get referred to with a’ instead of ‘er, or is just which is more comfortable to say/pronounce?
like... princess agents had... the second male lead asking which name he should call her, ah chu or xing’er, i think??? (the main male lead def. called her xing’er even if she was like plz stop calling me that), so are both viable options and it’s just preference?
and also does this kind of nickname happen in present day, bc it seems like it only happens in xianxia/wuxia/etc, altho granted i have not seen that many cdramas

“Is it hot here or is it just me?”
Too soon, too soon.
But he does get saved the last minute, from being auto-da-fed like a freaking witch by his brother and father (seriously, what is WRONG with these people? That’s a particularly horrific and slow death; what they couldn’t slit his throat?) So yay!!!!

Back to the cage it is. Where he is calling for Xing’er in his semi-conscious state.

When it comes to “A-” nicknames for my muses, please ask beforehand since beyond my m.dzs muses, not many of my muses can adhere to that kind of nickname due to sound and other reason.
Other options that can be used as nicknames that are related to their name also involve: doubling the name, adding an “ ‘er” to the end, putting “Xiao” in front of it. For these you don’t have to ask if you don’t want to, just make sure it looks / sounds right.
And then there is making up nicknames unrelated to these options (and names) - and honestly you can go wild with those.
Here’s some examples of nicknames my muses have / can be done.
the A- nickname gang: Jiang Cheng (A-Cheng), Wen Qing (A-Qing), Jin Ling (A-Ling), Chu Qiao (A-Chu), Zhao Yunlan (A-Lan).
the double name nickname: Bai Qian (Qian Qian), Chu Qiao (Qiao Qiao), Li Fei (Fei Fei), Yuanji (Jiji).
the “ ‘er” nickname: Ji Heng (Heng’er), Yuan Chun (Chun’er), Gong Yu (Yu’er), Chu Qiao (Xing’er), Xiao Liyang (Li’er), Shao Wan (Wan’er).
unnicknameable names based off names: Yu Ziyuan, Xize.
nicknames unrelated to their names: Chu Qiao (Xing, Wildcat), Su Rong (Demon Rabbit).

3 ships: Wolf Boy x Xing’er (The Wolf) I blame @dangermousie for introducing me to this whole level of pain, Lee Soo x Kyung Woo Yeon (More than Friends) I mean I didn’t put More than Friends as my top 2020 kdrama for no reason, Seo Dan Ah x Lee Young Hwa (Run On) if you’ve been following my series of text posts, you’d definitely notice
last song i listened to: Serendipity (More than Friends OST) yeah, I know
last movie i watched: Steel Rain: Summit I happened to see the movie while it’s airing on my cable TV and it’s so much fun! The actor they chose to play President Smoot (based on Trump) nailed his character, from the way he speaks, his mannerism, his physique 😂😂 also South Korea seems to be instilling the idea of unification among her people with numerous movies and drama touching on the subject matter recently so good for her I guess
currently watching: Queen Cheorin waiting for the finale to drop on Viu or I may just watch it on cable tonight (Monday) and Man in a Veil yes I love some trashy makjang
currently reading: I am Jared, 19, and I never learnt how to read
currently craving: Chocolate Indulgence cake from Secret Recipe yes I am stressed from work hence why I’m craving for such dessert
how’s it going? The ship has lost its captain and the first mate is useless af so we’re chilling on the ship while waiting for the current to drift us to the shore maybe lol this is figurative if it didn’t come across as is
I was tagged by @belsmultifandommess ❤
I’m sure I’ve done this before lol I checked and I’ve done a variation of this particular tag twice already lolol so I’m tagging different people this time around (I hope I haven’t tagged them already):

Currently… oc ifying both General Huaiyan and Argens Regia (High Elder of the Xianzhou Zhuming) because I have a multi chap fic planned all about my personal headcanons (I have a lot) for Yingxing’s childhood which will later bleed into some other fics I have planned to write and ah it feels so
So nice
I have a bunch of stuff planned yet again, adding another fic to my list but I really do want to write all of what I have planned, I’m just putting the original planet with the transflormation(?) disease on the back burner while I focus on this
Many plans, it’s going to be fun, sorry that I’m so obsessed with Baby Yingxing and Huaiyan and the Zhuming, I just need to know more and I won’t be able to probably for multiple years from now ToT I need to scratch my itch and fill in the gaps
This will in fact also be where I fill in the gaps in my head for how I see Yingxing’s family having been because I can and I have opinions

wip wednesday
(a day late and after weeks of radio silence but who really cares. more writing!)
this is from JAL au sequel, which has the working title “unnamed minor woman no. 2″
that working title will be clear from the snippet under the cut.
quick note: Zhou Zishu and Jiaxing are pretending to be married because it makes a decent cover for a man and woman who look nothing alike to be travelling together, and because it makes for fun misunderstandings with Wen Kexing when he finally shows up. They do not, nor will they ever, develop romantic feelings for each other. This is slow-burn enemies to found family.
“Zhang-furen,” Jiaxing says, curtseying to the older woman. “This one is Zhou-furen, Wei Xing’er.”
Zhang-furen is seated at a low tea table overlooking the clear waters of the lake. “There’s no need for that, dear,” she says, gesturing for Jiaxing to sit with her. “Come tell me why you and your husband have come through the Mirror Lake area.”
Jiaxing hides her instinctive reaction to Zhou Zishu being called her husband. (It should be Jiuxiao, it was always going to be Jiuxiao, she wants it to be Jiuxiao, but instead she is forced into this charade with the man who as good as got Jiuxiao killed.)
She thinks back to the story Zhou Zishu had concocted to keep suspicion off of them. She’s not sure how he expects it to truly hold up; she is no farmer’s wife. She knows enough of peasant life to know that she has obviously not lived it. Three months on the run is not enough to lose all of the etiquette and decorum and high-class scorn drilled into her from the time she was born.
“Mirror Lake is a lovely area to settle down,” Zhang-furen puts forth. “And Chengling seems to think your husband is a good man. It would be nice for him to have people outside of the sect to rely on; he’ll have to help his brothers when Lao Zhang and I pass on. Heavens know he won’t be any help with the training.”
Jiaxing hums. “My husband has relatives further upriver,” she lies, easily deflecting. She casts her gaze around, searching for a topic that is safer than Jiaxing’s future plans.
Zhang-furen seems to realize this is an unwelcome topic as well, shifting uncomfortably in her seat. “Wan’er,” she says, and a maid that had been standing off to the side hurries forward. “Bring us some snacks, and some of my good tea.”
The maid, Wan’er, curtsies and leaves through a side door Jiaxing hadn’t noticed.
Anyway, guess who the unnamed minor woman no. 2 is! Ten points to your hogwarts house if you guessed Zhang-furen.
Another note. Wei Xing’er is Jiaxing’s alias. Wei is her mother’s family name (i made it up; no canon basis from novels/show). Xing’er is just the Xing from Jiaxing + ‘er.
And the final note. Zhang-furen’s name in this au is Neng Qingyun.
能 (néng): surname meaning can / to be able to / might possibly / ability / (physics) energy 清 (qīng): clear / distinct / quiet / just and honest / pure / to settle or clear up / to clean up or purge 昀 (yún) - daylight / sun light / used in personal name
I didn’t actually mention it in this snippet, but that’s what it’ll be

@jiangswanyin inquired:  ❛ do you know where you’re headed? ❜ wei jia li
round eyes blinked as she stared at him, just happily she had bitten into a freshly backed good she hat grabbed at yunmeng as her uncle spoke to her. while carefully chewing she nodded before answering. “ of course i know the way to lanling. --- ” though she knew she was the first born, had to carry the reputation of burial mounds as the sect heir, sometimes it did annoy her that she was still treated like a child. --- given her behaviour it was easy to do so.
“ i am not five anymore, shushu! ---- i am nineteen. i might cause a lot of trouble from time to time, but shouldn’t my skills proof i am worthy of such tasks. “ it’s not like she was excited to to his task but she offered her help either way.  “ cousin a’ling needs help with the resentful energy around lanling and i will meet xing’er halfway there. it’s not like i have not done this before..“
it was truly tiring being questioned all the time. whereas her brother’s where always praised, she was questioned. even by her own family. deep down she knew they only meant well but that just gave her more reason to proof them wrong on a daily basis!

I love how once he learned the truth, he doesn’t hide how much he cares for her anymore and looks at her with the same softness as he did when he was still Wolf Boy.  Except now, EVEN HOTTER.
Tumblr media
You know you’re really hot when you can wear this  “pta mom goes for a new look and tries to experiment with silver” long cardigan monstrosity and still somehow look good.
Tumblr media
but only from the neck up

Gah it kills me every time he calls her Xing’er.  These two are like when a Disney princess and Mowgli get thrown into a dark fairy tale.  Prince Bo may be a hot bastard but Wolf Boy was so pure and too good for this world 😭
