That struggle when you really love someone's Tumblr blog vibe and wanna like and reblog everything they post but after a certain amount of notifs, you don't wanna come off like a creep, so you save a bunch to post later. Anyway, snow storm tonight ❄ 8-12 inches. I stocked up on prerolls so things will be fine if we lose electricity or anything 😆 first storm of the season and a small part of me is kinda excited to be snowed in, in my pjs, warm drinks, candles lit, maybe some baking or art or binge watch a series or board games. Simply enjoy and not feel guilty. Definitely go outside to admire and appreciate the beauty of the fresh snow 😌☕🥐❄

I miss Xanga.
Like. all of it, the whole experience. In case you didn't know, Xanga started way back in the way back when of 1999. I joined in 2000, and because of a feature released during the "Xanga premium" days, I have a zip file with every single cringe inducing post preserved, forever. Sometimes I enjoy torturing myself and looking back. While it’s great I still have them there, they’re embarrassing cherished memories, it’s really not the same at all. They’re basic text files, devoid of all the wonderfully Xanga things that made Xanga Xanga. I miss my blogrings, my SIR (subscriptions, not anything weird), and getting the random spiteful urge to make my blog private for months at a time.
Most of all I miss all is spamming comments with my small group of weird misfit friends. We were pretty dumb, obsessed with weird things, but we were all so genuine! In a time when I didn’t even know who I really was, it gave me a space to be my authentic self. I think that’s why I’m writing this, and writing it here. I need a hit of nostalgia. Pretend it’s back then again, for a little while and see if I can recapture that feeling. I am not sure if it’s possible. I’m a much more exaggerated and broken me than I was then. I’m as unhappy as I used to pretend to be. Sometimes I think the whole world is falling into a black hole and I’m watching the universe die all around me.
Here’s to recapturing that feeling.

Fun fact about me: I learned about IP addresses in middle school.
Xanga was the thing when I was 12 or 13ish, which was a nightmare. You could post/chat anonymously on other people’s pages (which was, as you can imagine, not toxic at all). Someone posted something a bit nasty on my page, and I found that if I hovered over the anonymous link, it showed their IP address.
So then all I had to do was go to different people’s pages and see if the IP linked to their name was the same linked to the anonymous name (“all” being used loosely here because it was quite an undertaking) BUT I did find out who it was.
And that kids, is how I learned about IP addresses.
