I'm mostly p chill with my physical limitations these days, but sometimes I get pissed off. Like. This air bnb has stairs, and the house is long, so there's more walking between the sofa, which is good and supportive to sit on, and the dining table chairs which are not. And my young nieces are really cute and fun, and just talking to the 8yr old for half an hour fuckin tired me out. ._.

So I need quiet, okay, but my room is upstairs (STAIRS >:|) and there's no way to sit that is fully supported and comfy? Which means I can't really REST and regain my energy.

*lies down in frustration*

I'll figure it out, it'll be fine. I'm just v annoyed rn.

Edit: typing up this post focused my brain on the problem sufficiently that I figured out the solution! With enough pillows, anything is possible.

WORLD WITHOUT END - June 19, 2020

There is this song by the Gregorians I used to have LSS about, “World Without End”, and it is directly lifted from the Word today, Psalm 66 and in the apostle Paul’s epistle to the Ephesians, chapter 3 verse 21. It amplifies the word in that the Latin lines exhort people to praise GOD and to speak well of and bless His Name. And the consequences if we fulfill these duties along with giving our lives to and living for Him are--yes, we partake of an eternal life full of peace, joy and grace.

Because it is a chant, it sounds rapturous, and there is an almost mystical and surreal quality to it, but in a few minutes, it does cause one to think about what is the real meaning of life and what we could do to understand, accept and live it.

Every day we are bombarded by challenges and problems, we are overcome by our fears and insecurities, and we try our best to survive and ensure that we and our loved ones will live for another day, and hope that in the future, life will be better and freer for us. But we mustn’t lose hope and think that this is all there is. For indeed, we only need to dig deep into our souls and remember the words of the Teacher in Ecclesiastes 3:11 that, “…He has put eternity in our hearts…”, even if it is only He who knows everything from beginning to end.

A few colleagues and some of my aunts say they do not watch the news anymore because every day there is just bad news, what with the continuing rise of CoViD-19 cases. “When will this all end?”, they say. “When will we go back to life before all these things happened?” “Will we ever get through these sane, whole, healthy and safe?”

Maybe they and we should remember that according to the words of our Lord in the gospel of Matthew chapter 24 verse 35 that, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My [His] words will never pass away”. We have hope in His promises, we have assurance in His words.

Let us review the line-by-line English translation of this song (also from Psalm 66):

Fetal Growth and Premature Delivery in Pregnant Women on Anti-epileptic Drugs

ABSTRACT

Objective: To evaluate the effects of epilepsy and antiepileptic drugs (AED) use during pregnancy on fetal growth and preterm delivery.

Methods: This study included singleton liveborns born to women enrolled in the North American Antiepileptic Drug Pregnancy Registry between 1997 and 2016. Data were collected prospectively through telephone interviews. The prevalence of preterm birth (<37 weeks) and small-for-gestational-age (SGA) among infants exposed prenatally to AED when used by women with epilepsy (WWE) or women without epilepsy (WWOE) was compared with that among infants unexposed to AEDs and born to WWOE. Multivariable log-binomial regression models were used to estimate relative risks (RR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI).

Results: The study population included infants born to 6,777 AED-WWE, 696 AED-WWOE, and 486 no-AED WWOE. The risk of prematurity was 6.2% for no-AED-WWOE, 9.3% for AED-WWE (RR 1.5, 95%CI: 1.0-2.1) and 10.5% for AED-WWOE (RR 1.5: 1.0-2.4). Prenatal exposure to AED in WWE and WWOE was associated with a mean lower birth weight of 110 and 136 grams, respectively, as compared to no-AED WWOE. The prevalence of SGA was 5.0% for no-AED-WWOE, 10.9% for AED-WWE (RR 2.0: 1.3-3.0) and 11.0% for AED-WWOE (RR 1.9: 1.2-2.9). Within users of AEDs in monotherapy, the prevalence of SGA ranged from 7.3% for lamotrigine to 18.5% for topiramate.

Interpretation: Women on AEDs during pregnancy, whether for epilepsy or for other neuropsychiatric indications, are at a higher risk of delivering prematurely and giving birth to SGA newborns. The risk may vary by drug. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.
