sappy post time. this production happened because my wonderful partner Scout ( @noodlescout ) and i had this insane idea at like 3am to do Ride the Cyclone. and then we were like wait. what if we actually do Ride the Cyclone. and we did!!!! we fucking did it!!!!! i’m so so honored to have been part of this and i’m so grateful that we were able to tell this beautiful story. i love making art, especially with people i love and oh boy. was this cast a bunch of FREAKING ROCKSTARS!!! i’m also gonna post a little fun facts about our production thing but until then i will leave you with these!! thanks for coming along friends!!!

i find it so interesting that mischa’s song is the one that is most Suitable for General Audiences, that being talia. and then sugar cloud and, again, mischa’s this song is awesome are the easiest to kidzbopify. and isn’t that part of it? that even though people consider him to be unapproachable bc he’s this intimidating rap dude, the song of his heart is the most societally acceptable (bar the part about men having deep positive feelings for an honest relationship).

compare him to ocean for a sec. she’s “no swearing suitable for every occasion” and yet i cannot sing her song (to myself) around kids i volunteer with unless i change the meaning entirely. and i am aware that the songs they sing are really who they wished to be perceived as, not wholly who they were, but her ideal is being seen as mature and cutthroat, while still being accepted. meanwhile, talia is sung in ukrainian, rather than english, and is a deeply personal love song. he wants his feelings for the subject of the song to be validated. in both these songs, the leads are swept away. in ocean’s case, it’s in being self-aggrandising, while in mischa’s it’s for someone else.

do i have a conclusion? nope!

Everytime I see a tiktok with WTWN audio and they spell 'futher mucking' and 'mother-fucking' I lose a day off my life

some weirdly specific things I pay attention to in rtc productions to judge their quality in my eyes include but are not limited to noels dress, wtwn choreo, and whether or not Constance has a recorder in sugar cloud

'Ocean's gonna take you down!' is an underrated rtc lyric and it needs to be appreciated more

hey wtf does ricky like because in the cast recording (2021), ocean describes ricky’s interests as “pokémon, spiderman” but at alliance theater (2019) she says “dragonball, pokémon” so similar but in the off-broadway (the slime tutorial. 2016) she says “angry birds, candy crush,” very much a deviation. however, in the official script that is currently up she says
