TAYLOR!!!!

taylor hebert is my favorite character in worm, which is both basic and obvious. i love her so much, i don’t even really know what to say here without launching into a multi page essay about her and her powers and her thoughts and her philosophies and-

i truekin her, no doubles. i wouldn’t do all that evil shit tho, probably because i’m not 15

i would read a full sequel about taylor hebert in low-powered earth aleph learning to adjust to that universe and dealing with her guilt and trauma. i wouldn’t need anything else from worm, no interludes, no character cameos, no shard lore- i just want love taylor and i want to watch her grow

lisa is probably my favorite character besides taylor, which is also pretty basic but i’m gonna be shameless about it

she and imp are the only reasons i’m considering reading ward, i canNOT get enough of lisa, similar to taylor. i finished worm like a week ago and most of the post-canon fic i’ve been searching for has revolved around lisa

not to center her around taylor, but her devotion to her friend (queerplatonic soulmate in my mind) is one of the most beautiful things in the story and the ending along with her trigger origin makes it such a stomach churning tragedy to me

i’m certain i have more thoughts about both of these characters but these are the main things. i don’t have a lot of negatives to say about most worm characters so these might be as nuanced as one might hope

she was wrong.

"but she fought nazis" she was right there. but she still did also do a lot of extrajudicial technically-torture. and I would bet a lot of the people she extrajudicially technically-tortured were forcibly conscripted (canon for the ABB) or forced into crime by circumstance (cough. undersiders) et cetera. also torture is wrong

others' fics specifically did SO much 4 me!! tilt and mixed feelings and of course the saint's blade. still inlove with your take on sophia's relationship to death/killing gonna make an analysis post when I get to it in the reread

ms. extrajudicial vigilante girl in a city that Really Does Need to come down harder on the Literal Fucking Nazis And Sex Traffickers but she's killing people and where do u draw the line. ms. calling punitive justice into question from both sides. ms. Glory-Girl-Character-Foil that didn't really go anywhere. ms. making emma worse and vice versa <3 prime fucked up shipfic material. ms. becoming what she sought to destroy (post coming here too) ms. discussing the morality of vengeance (alec interlude my BELOVED) etc etc.

I LOVE HER… i dont remember if i cried or not but taylor saying her goodbye to her while shes asleep on the couch got me emotional… every other scene rachel is in as well…

i wish i could say we need to know more about her but i love how her arf was handled. arc typo was an accident but i am absolutely leaving it in.

That costume choice is in reference to the skirt. Everything else rules. The bad take is that her dad was Marquis. Other people’s take was I think Blastweave? Kind of indirectly, through the Siberian.

there’s no “i want her to make me worse” box but if there was that would be colored in too

bakuda is genuinely so underrated; the scene with her after fighting uber&leet is what sold me on worm. i saw her character and her powers and realized just how different worm was going to be from anything i thought it was. i think she was engineered to represent the tonal shift from a typical superhero universe to whatever the hell you can call worm and i love that.

and i really want her to do crazy evil stuff to me.

We got a satisfying amount of Alec, but I do think more Alec could have worked. I'd read the HECK out of a little side story about him escaping heartbreaker.

I don't have a strong opinion on trans alec but i observe the thursday :) I've read a few rly good nonbinary alec fics so nb Alec kinda lives in my head

tumblr user lakesbian definitely expanded my Alec Knowledge

hence most of the Arc Ideas (generational trauma, CSA and recovery, etc) I refer to here are the ones she discusses

but. a second thing about alec's arc that's underrated is the FEELINGS. the TENSION. i didn't cry but i was Lying On My Stomach Kicking My Feet With Pent Up AnxietyExcitement the whole time which. holy SHIT well fuckin' written

i ain't got anything like the trauma this fellow has, thank GOD, but he does get me, kinda. we all got that one interlude we read nodding along like "yeah this kid gets it" and then the comments section is "they're so fucked up" "they're SO fucked up" "so unbelievably fucked up" amiright

there are some baaadd alec takes out there; I'm just not much of a seether. but there are some alec takes I disagree with.
