Infiglo's FNAF AU Masterpost 😃

Making this in an attempt to be more organized with my AU and so that people can look at this before asking any questions I might have already answered before. It will include links to posts (explanations, references, important art), FAQ, and other details.

Brief Summary

My AU is basically just my interpretation of the FNAF story, with some changes from canon/what is largely agreed to be canon. (It does not always reflect what I actually think is canon.) I kind of think of it in 2 separate parts, one about the kids before and after they die, and another about Michael (and some other characters) after the murders, finding out what happens and dealing with the haunted animatronics of course. The first part is my main focus majority of the time, and usually follows Cassidy, Charlie, and Evan.

As you can see, I don't currently have updated references for quite a few characters such as Michael, William, Henry, the FNAF 1 animatronics, etc. I am working on these and will have them eventually. I'll try to always keep this up to date with what I've posted.

FAQ

Are you planning on making a webcomic? - I gave a longer explanation about what I plant to do with my AU here, but the short answer is that I plan on making short comics about specific events/situations, but not one continuous comic telling the entire story.

How many games does your AU include?/Does your AU include Security Breach? - My AU only goes to UCN, so no it does not include Security Breach, Help Wanted, or Fazbear Frights if you believe those are canon. I will include some characters like Vanessa, Gregory, Cassie, Jake, and Andrew as background characters in my AU just for fun, but they are not really relevant to the story.

When did the kids die? - I'm still making sure I'm happy with the exact dates and death orders, but as of right now: Charlie dies in 1980, Elizabeth and Evan die in 1983, and the MCI is 1985.

What ages were the kids when they died? - I answered that here. Please note this is an updated version where I changed a few ages, and there might be an old inaccurate answer to this question up somewhere.

What are the FNAF 4 nightmares in the AU? - They are Evan and Cassidy's agony ghosts, or extensions of them since the only ones they themselves turn into are Nightmare Fredbear and Nightmare. Cassidy is helping Evan torment Michael because Evan agreed to help her with William. and she also thinks it's funny.

Is Andrew part of Golden Freddy in this AU? - No, I have a second, side AU where he is, but it has nothing to do with my main AU, where Andrew doesn't end up being killed.

Is Sammy in this AU? Yes, he is, and he's still Charlie's brother. I based him off of the spring bonnie kid from FNAF 4. He is also not super important though, because he moves away with his mother in 1983 after Evan dies.

What order do the events of the games happen? FNAF 4, FNAF 2, FNAF 1, Sister Location, FNAF 3, FNAF 6, UCN

Tags

I put everything relating to this au under the "main au" tag. Besides that I try to tag the names of the characters in the post, the game it relates to, and will tag "spirits" or "agony ghosts" for posts about either of those. When I make longer posts where I just explain things in detail I tag those "explanations".

I tag all the questions I respond to as "answered", although a lot of these aren't related specifically to my AU.

Other details I feel like I should mention

My FNAF 1 Nightguard is not Mike, it's actually Cassidy's cousin, Mina because I wanted them to have a bigger connection to the MCI. The events of FNAF 1 and Sister Location happen pretty close together, because Mina is at Freddy's and Michael is at Circus Baby's.

My version of the FNAF 4 Chica Bully (Raina) is Gabriel's older sister and is the nightguard that replaced Jeremy in FNAF 2.

Jeremy Fitzgerald is Susie's older brother. The two of them moved to Hurricane in 1983 (before Evan died).

The Toy animatronics are not possessed by seperate kids, although the MCI victims' agony might take control over them sometimes.

My Mrs. Afton is named Eleanora, or Nora for short.

Elizabeth and Michael were born in the UK so they do have British accents, but Evan was born in the US and doesn't really have one. (Nora is also American and was born in Hurricane.)

Charlie and her agony ghost self are much more connected than anyone else is with theirs, and her agony ghost acts a little more human because of this. They can also generally convey ideas to each other but cannot directly communicate. Usually if Charlie's agony ghost does something that doesn't relate to her goal of stopping William, it's because she's doing it for the real Charlie.

Time does not work the same for the spirits as it does in the real world.

Elizabeth is the only spirit who never has contact with any of the other spirits until she's set free.

The agony ghosts can change how people see other things, as extensions of themselves basically. This is how they make the animatronics eyes turn black, Charlie gives the puppet tears, and Elizbeth changes Baby's eye color. (What happens to William in UCN is different than this, since it's Cassidy's agony trapping him in one of his own memories and then changing it however she likes - so it all happens inside his head.)

I don't really have anything made specifically for the new year, honestly I hardly ever do holiday specific art pieces, but, I thought I'd whip up a 2023 art summary thing real quick while I was waiting up till midnight, I figured it'd all be FNaF AU stuff, but what can I say, it's been my main thing through 2023. It's been, an odd year, definitely not my worst, but, odd.

I lost what little confidence I had in quite a bit of my creative works, mostly, anything OC driven, and I feel its begun to sink into my fandom stuff too, so I feel my FNaF stuff will be, slower, in 2024, but, still I hope to finish my main fic, AWLB, and begin working more on other FNaF AU fics I have rattling around in my head. I wanna do more illustrations again, like I started on the last couple months, along with character design refs. I hope I can finish part 2 of "A Wound Left Bleeding" But that's a bit up in the air on how long it's gonna take with how badly my confidence has wavered. It'll be finished eventually, but idk how long it'll be. I'm roughly 5ish chapters away from hitting the estimated half-way point on it, but I've also not been able to work on it in a few weeks.

That being said, I do feel I improved a bit with my art this year, both visual and written, I've a ways to go as a writer, something, I'm admittedly still very new to, but, have found enjoyable, I may be clumsy with words, but I've enjoyed telling my little FNaF story so far. Visual art, I'm happy with, I've tried to get a bit looser with character designs with the refs for WWLWWF, and I feel I've not utterly lost my "spark" for illustrations despite not doing them much. Overall, I feel I'm "content" with where I am in writing and drawing, I feel I'll improve still as I just continue to play around as I've done for let's see… almost 16 years now on a more "Serious" level. Sure I always liked arts and crafts and such, but about that long ago was when I decided I wanted to really learn to draw, I think the younger version of me would be proud of the art improvement, I just wish I'd kept the boundless confidence in my work that I had then haha.

Well, anyway, Happy New Years, may it be kind to us all.

A few character lore and worldbuilding tidbits because I've had these in my head for so long but kept holding on putting them out there because I have no finished refs, I need to stop doing that and just let loose already!!

Under the cut because this is a WALL of text, bitches got a lot to say alr 😭

While Crystal's doing her usual heartbreaker work, Madre offers her a one time position as a maestro of a concert hall, to basically give her a possible job opportunity if she ever decides to get back into heartbreaker work past her graduation, this one time job offer being The Star Gauntlet

The Star Gauntlet is a series of labyrinths and bosses all crafted by the leading maestro of the gauntlet (in this case, Vanity) and I'm still thinking of the reason behind it but so far its for already heartbroken individuals to basically,, strengthen their heart, but without exactly healing it? Still thinking it out alr

Vanity's client for this one time gauntlet, is none other than Katrina! The human version of Katz! (timeline for Katrina is as follows: Katrina goes through the gauntlet -> nearing the end she gets the power to transform into her nightmaren form, which she lovingly named Katz because her blunt horns remind her of cat ears -> after the gauntlet is over, she's stored enough magic in her art to transform into Katz whenever she pleases

Katrina, now fully named Katrina Craig, is Leo's little cousin! By the time The Star Gauntlet happens (still thinking of a title for this event, another working title is The Shining Moment Program) Katrina is 12 and Leo is 17, the events of the Madre AU take place 2 years after the events of the main BWW story! (thus why postincident!Crystal is 14)

Leo sadly doesn't know about Katrina's situation, he hasn't seen his baby cousin since she was 9 💔 (Katrina's situation being that she lives basically alone, save for her father coming back to pay the bills every so often, REEKING of vodka- he has a gambling addiction and could care less about his daughter, Katrina gets food and most things she needs through dumpster diving and sometimes theft.) Last time Leo saw Katrina she was in a decent position so like if he ever finds this out (he will 👁️ 👁️) he's gonna be pretty taken aback

Originally I had planned to have Balan and his homies (the bww cast) intervene with the gauntlet in a separate au simply titled "Balan Interference AU" just as a fun little thing to be like "what would happen if Balan was more present and had a way of helping if he knew of the gauntlet's existence? 🤔" but overtime I started to like this AU so much it became part of the main Madre AU story, the possibilities for ♡Soft Feelings♡ are all around!!!!

Leo and Kat together are The Sillies, they are really just so funny <3 goofballs <33

my friend @i-think-in-metaphors did this amazing commission for me!!! i redid the phantom planet statue for my au, and wrote a scene for one of my upcoming works where mateo gets to see it in person. i finally got tired of imagining it and wanted to see it.

Excerpt from quit telling everyone i'm (permanently) dead! (wip)

The black zirconium statue was larger than life. It towered above them on two separate, stepped obsidian pedestals, each about five-feet high. As Mateo moved closer, he could see something glittering in the bases. Danny mumbled something about ectoplasmic ice mixed into it, stronger than diamonds, but Mateo thought they looked like stars. He figured that was the intention. It was gorgeous.

He tilted his head back to take in the actual sculpture. That Danny was twice as large as the one standing next to Mateo. He felt his heart lurch a little at how serious Danny looked, the tight furrow over his brow, the determined set to his jaw. It all made him look so much older than even now, even though Mateo knew he was only sixteen when the statue was made.

The statue’s zirconium white accents were blinding in the late afternoon sunlight, and Mateo found himself shading his eyes as he looked up even higher. The hair on the statue was shorter than Mateo had seen Danny wear his, probably closer to the length it had been when he was in high school. It was swept back heroically, as if moved by an unseen wind, and the sun glinted off its sharp edges. It made the whole statue look as if it were glowing.

Crystalized ectoplasm made Phantom’s eerie green eyes, and they glowed too, though Mateo figured they probably glowed under their own power rather than a trick of the light. The statue’s eyes were trained on the thin, steel-wire Earth he cupped protectively close to his chest; it was a promise as well as a remembrance. The world remembered what Phantom did for them, and he promised them he would do it all over again if necessary.

Well, this is one design I’ve changed SO MANY TIMES... Like wow... Ok, one was a mask edit based on the story’s direction, and one is just a “Rider AU” take.

But you know, Lightni design was what you’re seeing in the very first pic -- A Squiby pet based on an old (and incomplete) collection in which was inspired by a Japanese fanart of the older six dressing up like their Perfect level digimon. This fanart I was trying to do decades ago was a 02 kids only and based on their armor digimon, so there was three Daisukes and two Miyakos & Ioris. Lighdramon one was my favorite and while working on Hinode back in 2011 I thought “why not using this design here?”

At first, Lightnimon was not only a disguise but also a “chimera” since Daisuke uses a copy of V-mon’s data to restore his data in the DW to escape from dying. So he gets this new “identity” based on shame and fears. So this coloring is like a virus-like digimon. The story proceeded until the part Lightni got in extremely danger and a characters’ wish to save him “changes his mode” to this “Armor Mode” version. Once re-writing it to a version 2, Lightni loses his long silver hair (based on Agnimon’s) and his hair color changes back to burgundy/rose red.

With this new haircut, Daisuke changes the mask to Something able to hide his hair. And then we got this rare hoodless Daisuke art later.

The Kamen Rider in me making me edit Lightni for an AU made me explore more the Rider franchise design, so we got this very beta version of the March 2014 design, which ended up becoming his current and “final” version.

Though the 2016-2017 the Lighdramon helmet cam back, so it was included on the chara ref from January 2017. Also, alongside with Mar 2014 & Jan 2017 designs, the original Lighdramon colors (Data attribute) versions were created.

In the current Hinode Drabbles series, Daisuke is no longer a “half-human-half-digimon” like the original & abandoned project and yes a human disguised as knight-like digimon, so he gained a weapon, designed in June 2017 -- The Lighdra-Glaive.

Characters and Languages in my TOG football AU

For context, this is the universe within my fanfic The Beautiful Game. This is a post I’ve wanted to make for some time, based off the fact that:

1) In The Old Guard canon, we know our characters speak many languages

2) Elite football is one of the few professions where people pick up multiple languages by necessity, for communicating with staff, teammates etc. Just look at how impressive Romelu Lukaku is.

And so, just for my own nerdy benefit, here goes:

Andy: English, French, Ukrainian, Russian (+ learning Italian for her new job)

I regret not being able to flesh Andy out more in my fic, but Andy is Ukrainian and also holds a Canadian passport. She played for Ukraine, but grew up mostly in Canada where she can be more open with her sexuality.

Booker: French, English (+ learning Italian for his new job)

Booker is the least multilingual character in my fic lol. He spent his first 20 years in France, and then he spent the next 6 years in England. He knows a lot of Algerian slang words that are now colloquial French. He will learn one more language due to work which you will find out in the epilogue LOL.

Nile: English, Spanish, Catalan, high school French, (+ learning Italian as an American expat in Italy)

Nile grew up in the South Side of Chicago, and then moved to California for a year. She makes the effort to learn Spanish to communicate with the Hispanic community around her, and took French in high school because it was cool. Her Spanish is gloriously Mexican and Puerto Rican-inflected. She then lived in Barcelona for 6 years, so that’s where she picked up Catalan.

Yusuf: Maghrebi Arabic (Tounsi and Darija), Dutch, French, English, Catalan, Spanish, Italian

Yusuf is the most multilingual character within the AU!!!! How sexy is this dude. His family is Tunisian, and his parents moved to the Netherlands where there is a large Moroccan community--so within the family they use the more Tunisian inflected form of Maghrebi Arabic, but with their community it is way, way more Moroccan inflected. (ref: Yusuf says wilywilywily to Booker in ch.75). He speaks French because...*shakes fist* (colonialism), he speaks Dutch because he had to learn that in school, he speaks English because pretty much every Dutch person speaks excellent English. He learned Castillian Spanish for fun on the side, and then moved to Barcelona where he picked up Catalan to impress the locals. Nicolò di Genova taught him Italian when he moved to Italy. (Side note: the reason why he’s referred to as Yusuf all through the fic is because the Dutch j is pronounced as y. There’s no...Joe...in the Anglicized way. Yusuf does have American relatives and thus there are American Joes in his family LOL.)

Nicolò: Italian, French, English

HAHAHAHAHA bet you weren’t expecting the one in the middle!!! Nichi also does a terrible version of Ligurian for his mom. (Like, his mom speaks Ligurian to him and he replies in Italian. This is a total dialect call out because this is how I sound like talking with my parents but with our language/dialect.) Nichi picked up French in school for the second language requirement. He has NEVER told Booker about this and has NEVER spoken to Booker in a word of French. However, he speaks to Yusuf’s Tunisian relatives in French. Nichi did spend a year in England, which helped his English a bit.

Lykon: French, Portuguese, English, Wolof

Quynh is a transnational adoptee in my fic, so her mother tongue and original language is Vietnamese. However, she was adopted by French parents and grew up in a wealthy part of Paris (16th Arr), so she was schooled in French. She went to the US for her postgrad studies (PhD), so her English is excellent as well.

You’re very welcome, it’s a great novel so! I’m glad more people are reading it after having run into this blog, I must spread the pureness that is Aech to all of humanity //shakes fists And yes! Mr. Reyes is Morrow, I can imagine him sort of contributing to the hunt with lots of theater related things, which Christine specializes in! Book!Squip is Halliday, and there’s actually a little more about that and his relationship with Jeremy that I want to get into later.

Oh nice!! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! Ahhh hmm well if you like supernatural teen stories, there’s a series called Darkest Powers by Kelley Armstrong about this girl named Chloe who finds out she’s a necromancer after being sent to a “troubled teens” home, and she meets these boys named Simon and Derek who also have special abilities and then all sorts of crazy things happen! I first read it back in high school and I still love it a lot, so yeah it’s a trilogy and all of the characters are really great so! (I looooove Simon like. So much.) Check it out if you have the time, it’s a good read!

Yeah, I mentioned that up above! But Book!Squip takes over the role of Halliday, and musical Squip is Sorrento, of course~ Honestly I’d say like, probably the early 2000s, since that was when I was growing up and I can actually make references back to that time lol? I mean I love the 80s as well, just as it is in the book, but I feel as if I don’t know enough about that time period to actually. Make proper references and constantly. (I mean I could ask my parents who lived during that time too but;; haha.) Most of the stuff on here are me self-projecting, like with video games, books, and anime, that’s all me lol

Rose City Comic Con 2017! My Cosplay part 2: FNAF 2 Security Guard (Sunday)

The Five Nights at Freddy's 2 security guard survived Rose City Comic Con on Sunday ... (unfortunately) not a killer animatronic in sight all day!

[dang it, there was an AU human Bonnie and a Purple Guy running around the Con Saturday but I was in Steampunk gear at the time. I was hoping to get a jump-scare photo op if I could just track someone down. Oh well, maybe next Con.]

This was the first time I've cosplayed as a recognizable character (even if you never actually see the security guard in the game as it is in first person), and it was a heck of a lot of fun. Very different reactions as opposed to my OC Grimma Lynn. Not better or worse, just different. The recognition of the character led to some great interactions and conversations. I don't think this will be the last rendition of the character I do, either; I've had an idea brewing that will be more involved than this one, but I really REALLY want to give it a shot. Hopefully I'll have it figured out in time for next Con season ...

A little tableau I set up for my Facebook feed to lead into the next day’s cosplay with the Freddy mask I made, as well as a bonnie plush, custom badge from https://www.etsy.com/shop/snowbunnystudios?ref=l2-shopheader-name, and my slightly modified flashlight. The text from my post follows:

Hey, so I just got hired for this great new job! It's a night shift (I'm nocturnal, so I'm genuinely happy about that), it isn't in customer service, and I'll be working around some interesting machines!* Animatronics, specifically. Despite those creepy rumors and the oddly high turn-over rate for this position, I think being a nightly security guard at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza will be a breeze! Plus, all the left-over pizza I want! I'll admit that the equipment they assigned me for my first night was unusual ... why would I need to wear an empty spare Freddy head mask "just in case" the free-roam animatronics find their way into the office? Weird. Oh well, I'm not worried. What's the worst that could happen?

[Everything before the * is in fact true, but the rest is leading into tomorrow's cosplay as the Five Nights at Freddy's 2 security guard for Rose City Comic Con! 😉 For those unfamiliar with FNAF, it is a point-&-click survival game where you play as a security guard being hunted down by killer possessed free-roaming animatronic mascots at a Chuck E. Cheese-style pizzeria.]

Playing the terrified victim was an interesting change of pace ... I usually find myself playing the menace/monster (after all, those roles are typically a lot more fun)!

Well, I found a perfect stand-in for the Prize Corner! Let's see, flashlight: check, Freddy head: check, music box wound up to keep the Marionette at bay ... wait, did I remember to wind the music box?! Oh bother...

I have acquired a new temporary prop! ;) A very character-appropriate lunch given the game takes place in Freddy Fazbear's Pizza!

Sure, the pizza wasn't free leftovers, but not bad. Certainly better than the glorified marinara-slathered-cardboard from the Pizzaria.

A quick behind-the-scenes look at what is under the Freddy mask, minus the cotton batting around the top of the head to fill it out a little, the fur and the store-bought top hat. Not only was this my first non-OC cosplay, but it was also my first time working with polyurethane foam (except for a futile attempt a good fifteen-or-more years ago) and anything like this mask. I worked with some creative liberties from the video tutorial by Iron Horse Cinema: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=01qrnCRjihE, and while it certainly didn’t turn out perfectly it wasn’t a bad first attempt! I based it on the more game-accurate Withered Freddy as opposed to the FNAF 1 version, so a lot of the features/shapes are on-model for the less recognizable version of the character:
