sorry yes this is inspired by a tiktok pls roll with it but the Glass Ceiling has really not been a core part of the (american) feminist movement since basically the 80s. in fact, there are a lot of modern intersectional american feminists who are specifically critical of the 80s girlboss working women break the glass feminists archetype for a long time because of how it hinders more than helps. there are so many american women who i know would consider themselves feminists (casual or otherwise) who understand instinctually that to be a feminist is to be intersectional. now i get that nobody's perfect and some american feminists are causing harm but that's a conversation for another time because if we're going to start comparing moral perfection with fucking europeans im going to hurt someone's feelings

Something to be said I think about the intersectionality between eldest daughter syndrome and being a woman of color but I'm not 100% sure I'm smart enough to say it properly
Like a lot of being the eldest daughter is about shouldering everyone else's burdens in your family and because you're so used to doing it in your family you do it for everyone else in your life too
You become the mom friend, you feel the need to help everyone else, if anything goes wrong it's always your fault because you didn't fix it fast enough and if anything goes right it's attributed to someone else, or it's never acknowledged that work was put in to making it go right at all
I can't speak for other WOC but Black Women in particular are seen as the lowest of them all, we don't have male privilege we don't have white privilege, and therefore we are discriminated against the most but also expected to shoulder everyone else's burdens
Idk if the trope is officially called the magical negro trope but there was a comedy sketch done on it about Black people and more often than not Black women who are only part of the storyline to help the white protagonist succeed, they're expected to either sacrifice their own goals for the good of everyone else or never have goals of their own in the first place and merely be helpers to everyone else
And I think about it when I see ""inspirational"" messages put on sticky notes on everyone's locker, at random, I know I'm not being targeted, but everyone else's says "be your best self!" Or "have a great day!" And mine always says "Make someone else smile!"
And I am reminded of it when I am forced to be the eldest daughter, forced to understand, forced to shoulder the burden and it reminds me of all the times I have conceded to do what other people have asked me to because it is simply easier to comply and take on more work than it is to put up a fight
Black women and women of color are expected to be the eldest daughter to not just their family but to EVERYONE to society at large all the time and that is... Absolutely exhausting when you realize you've spent so much time invested in other people and have nothing left for yourself
So uh shout out to eldest daughters of color, I see you and you're valid and I'm so sorry for what the world has done to you

if you refuse to understand why some people, ESPECIALLY women hate/are scared of men, you need to try and gain some empathy and put yourself in other people’s shoes. i for one do not hate every man on earth (not that i should have to repeatedly explain this) but i have a fear and hatred for a lot of the male population because of trauma and how the patriarchy has caused us all the fucking problems on this planet! i’m so tired of people calling hating or fearing men gender essentialism as if misogyny / the patriarchy / male oppression aren’t SERIOUS ISSUES that exist. just say you don’t care about women’s rights or the victimisation of women, gay men, trans people, people of colour and every other fucking minority group by LARGELY CIS MEN and move on.

i assume it was unintentional, but the optics of a show having a mixed race couple where the father is brown & the mother white go to a white guy to be a sperm donor is... yikes.

y'know this whole situation reminds me of the PR team of a very famous director.
When the allegations against the man came to light, he didn't respond aside from a small "this is absolutely untrue, until two women of color accused him. Then his PR team jumped to discredit their every word, because they knew they were the easiest to discredit, and since it worked so well against his allegations from them - it also discredited all the white women who had previously came forward and accused him. Be aware of PR tactics.
The director was Harvey Weinstein. The women of color were Salma Hayek and Lupita Nyongo.

yeah im sorry, while I absolutely don’t agree with Matt fans talking down on Jonny, im not going to lie and say im not feeling a hefty dose of satisfaction at certain JB fan accounts on Twitter getting upset about it. These same people were shading and shitting on Simone last year, using a lot of the same things being said against Jonny now. Sorry but a lot of them deserve the karma, hopefully those of them who do will realise how awful they were last year, and never behave that way again. (If y’all want proof just check out the comments that were made when Simone was nominated for a hca award and not Jonny - a SA fan account literally had to tweet telling JB stans to shut the fuck up it was that bad).
if you’re talking about me then bestie i have never talked shit about simone so you’re wrong about that
i made the tweet today about the reddit shit and i havent seen anyone else make it separately so idk who you’re talking about
there are some weird jonathan stans and if you’re active on twitter you’ll see i dont interact with them
i wont be surprised if some of them were being weird towards simone as unlike annie and co, i have always said there are weirdos in the jonny fandom too (though none i have seen who are as unhinged and terrible as annie and her lot and you cannot change my mind about that im sorry)
but im not sure why you’re telling me this when i have never shit on simone
edit: and im sorry if i misjudged your tone but if you’re here to argue whose collective stans are better and whose are worse, i am not engaging in that shit bc its worthless - not with any stans of any celebs
