✦ SYNOPSIS︰love can bloom and burn in any heart at the first sunlit-brindled brief—whether it be bounded by duty, ice, or disbelief; as long as that epitome of affection is you, they suppose they can make an exception and make some space—or in which they fall in-love with you first glance and sight.

✦ CONTENT WARNING/S︰nothing other than one swear word (fuck), & the general fluff and infatuation (from the character/s) + everything is proofread with the wc 200 - 300 each.

✦ A/N︰making my debut as a manhwa writer on main is not the ideal move but idk where to post it okay (side eyes the 2367838 sideblogs under this one/silly (also the title is inspired by "the only exception" by paramore <3 it's bleeping awesome go and give it a listen!!))

IJEKIEL IS NOT ONE TO FALL IN LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT, to have his world still for a few seconds while his heart overrides and blood races to the forefront of his cheeks—but dear heavens, were you the only exception to that rule bound by duty and a planned future in his chest. you surely weren’t the epitome of grace or as enchanting as the gods, but to him you were enough—more, than enough, truly.

he first met you in an arrangement of his father and your parents from your vague childhood—but oh, how he remembers every second of that first meeting. when the doors opened to you bowing in front of him with a barely-hidden smile of excitement curving the tips of your mouth to look at him with big, bright eyes of wonder staring directly at the copy of the sun—not once backing down to blink or burn away from awe and fluster. so ijekiel does that instead. his skin flares with the color of blooming carnations, sunlight-prickled hues wide from childish panic at the sudden increased beating of his heart. was something wrong with him? he felt light-headed and dizzy, stomach twisting, tossing and turning as if he was about to faint from merely seeing you presented before him like the finest muse of a pristine piece of art, incomparable to anything else other than itself. what should he do? should he compliment you? should he act indifferent and use a practiced smile? his mind is trying to adjust to the drastic changes of his swayed heart, but the boy just can’t seem to do just that when he’s faced with a fairytale protagonist right in front of him—and he blinks, catching something from the corner of his eye—and is brought back down to earth when he sees his father’s questioning gaze. then, bows with a smile, greeting you further in to sit down and perhaps enjoy a cup of tea with him? you said yes out of common courtesy, but that only made his smile grow wider.

LUCAS FIRMLY DOES NOT BELIEVE IN LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT, like come on—who believes in love like that these days? naive little kids? newly adolescent noble ladies? men of high and poor status? it’s simply too . . . unlikely to actually happen in his eyes. the butterflies when you meet “the love of your life’s” eyes? could be the early signs of constipation. the flush in your cheeks when there’s too much prolonged eye contact with them and the dizziness of your heart and mind? could be an oncoming migraine, headache, or a sign you're being possessed by some evil spirit, y’know? anyways, enough joking aside—the point is, he finds the subject some far-fetched fairytale that is highly impossible even with the magic he has—that is, until, you waltz into his life. the things he feels when he's around you is something that could be described as a contradiction. the first gazing into your eyes turns the world upside and back again, the first brush against your fingertips suck all the air out of his chest, the first chuckle that he manages to rouse from deep within your giddy joy paints him a shade darker than his eyes from head to toe—holy fuck were there a lot of firsts that made him experience everything and anything all at once; with most he can't even explain properly without sounding so . . lovesick. god do you make him sick to the last bone with whatever sorcery you possess. in short; when in love, lucas is everything that correlates to being stupidly infatuated and is constantly reeling himself in by a hair’s breadth back to the surface when you smile, laugh, or simply exist next to him—like, can you imagine how utterly moronic it is to see how degenerate he’s become from before you?! . . . but, if it makes you happy, he’ll gladly be idiotic for the rest of his life (though, that depends if you're gonna annoy him or not).

I am just now realizing why Ijekiel was so shocked at how much Athy has studied and how much she knows, being able to keep up with him at her age is especially something unheard of. Remember, he IS older than her, but in the next few pages J comes and asks him to read her a book he read all the way to the end 2 days ago.

It struck me that he's never been around someone near his age that has been able to lead and have an intellectual conversation and he's thinking, wow, I'm really impressed but he's probably also thinking, wow, the princess is an equal. Well, a higher ranking equal ofc but an equal nonetheless lmao.

VERY long overdue, this was wip that was supposed to be a sketch of what i want Athy, Jetty & Kiel’s outfits to look like in my Reincarnated!Jennette au that continuously haunts me for some reason. except i got bored at some point and just now i decided to rush coloring them now for some reason now that i remembered it's existence.

first attempt at my r!jetty au debutante dress my wip from last year

more under the cut :0 it's a bit long so sorry for that

i did this because i ended up feeling dissatisfied with my first attempt at designing a debutante dress for r!jetty since to me i just don't like how i executed things. granted i'm not really serious about my art but the colors looked too muddy lol. aside from that though, i also wanted to finally draw Athy's and Kiel's outfits mention in my other posts since they're obviously integral to this au.

i went more in depth in my first design post, but i decided to stick more true to the neoclassical silhouette that came after the rococo era which heavily influenced Jetty's dresses in both timelines in the manhwa. obviously a huge departure imo bc i think Jetty and her bows are too iconic to be left out of this one and i find it unfortunate that even when redoing my design i still couldn't find a way to incorporate bows lol. besides that, i'm quite happy with how her dress turned out this time.

i didn't point this out in the actual photo but if you're wondering why there are green marks on her neck and hands, long story short it was Viscount Patterson's fault (not to spoil on my own au but they do meet earlier).

Athy's dress is an homage to traditional debutante dresses being white, with the added edge that Athy's dress isn't supposed to stay white and turns into the iconic pink the more she dances. i wanted this to look more elegant and as if she is becoming a blooming flower as the night goes on. though i do wish i did more with the dress since it's supposed to represent how Athy is fully taking her life in her own hands to become Ruler of Obelia and thus, blooming into a new person. i should do a separate sketch for her dress bc it's more complex than what i had intended.

Kiel basically went full-on duke of the north with this one haha. full-disclosure, yes Kiel and Athy do have a thing with each other in this au though i don't intend for them to end up with each other, so i drew his outfit to compliment Athy's which ended up making him look like a Izek clone. however i specifically chose the dark colors because at that point, he and Jennette are still grieving the death of the Duchess due to... very unfortunate circumstances.

for the accessories Ijekiel and Jennette are wearing i'm keeping their connection to Duchess Alpheus, she's like the Lily in this au except she tragically passes away in their late childhood. it's an event that acts as a turning point for their characters and puts a strain on their relationship since she was the only adult in their lives who saw them for who they are outside of being Roger's pawns.

“Here!” You smile as you propped a flower crown on Ijekiel's head. You two sat on the grass, under the cool shade of a tree. The two of you were having a picnic together.

The plates of food around both of you were half-eaten. Ijekiel had been reading a book while you were working on the crown, but the moment it came to contact with his head he looks up. His golden eyes sparkle. He looks so precious with crown on.

“Thank you, Name.” He smiles sweetly while you smile back and take up your own crown and wore it.

“No problem!” That was how your childhood went.

But then you were now sitting on the couch in the library. Everyone around you seemed so solemn. In front of you, Ijekiel was perched on a seat. Both of your eyes seem to have a question.

What were you two doing here?

A minute, then ten, then thirty minutes pass... No one spoke. As though they were waiting for one of you two to speak. Your hands play with a loose thread in your dress as you anxiously wait for someone to speak.

Ijekiel suddenly spoke the question that both of you now settled with. “Why have you brought us here, Father?” He asks.

The two fathers seemed to be relieved that at least one of you spoke. “We have news for you two.”

You were anxious. Would it be that you two could no longer see each other? If so, what could we have possibly done for them to do such a thing? You tried reasoning with yourself but it failed.

Luckily, the news was far better than what you had thought of. “You two will be betrothed.”

Your eyebrows furrow as you attempt to remember what that word meant but Ijekiel takes note of your thinking hard and answered for you. “It means we will be married when we are older, my lady.” Oh. That was way better than being separated. You tried remaining positive. You smile gratefully towards Ijekiel as you still hadn't be able to recollect your voice that had simply vanished the moment you entered this room.

Both of the grownups were shocked and their faces betrayed their emotions. Perhaps it was because they didn't think you two would take this so...so easily.

As if it was a dream come true to both of you. Which for one of you it was, but for the other it was just a better alternative. I'm sure you could tell who thought which.

Then that was decided. At first, you had to adjust to the statement of him being your betrothed but sooner or later you got used to it.

Soon too you started falling in a pit of love for him and he to you. It doesn't take long before your easy rapport turned i to a rather easy romance between one another.

But then he had to go to school in another nation. You had frantically begged him to stay only for him to say he did not have a choice which was likely the truth but the pain was unbearable.

The joyful air turned into a depressing mist for you. You missed him.

His smiles, his hugs, his kisses... (on the cheek by the way).

It had grown on you so much but then for all of it to be pushed away hurt more than it should.

The longer he was gone, the more you worried. What if he forgets of your existence?

What if you'll be let alone in the dark once again no longer being able to see the sunshine that was your fiancé. Such thoughts brought overwhelming pain to you.

You try to cling on though. You do. You know he wouldn't want you wavering too much at the negativity of your own fragile and ever wavering mind.

So you try to keep up with what the others want. In your mind your motivation is him. Even if he isn't home.

Then the day finally comes for you both. The day that decides it all. Did he or did he not forget?

Being secluded to your thoughts and trying to keep from acting anything other than neutral was hard especially when there's a nerve-wracking truth that could behold in your eyes.

The moment he steps out of the carriage in which he had once left from, his golden eyes sparkled as they once did at the sight of you.

Time seemed to stop.

Everything seemed to be in a pause. As if the world had grown favour of you both. He could only take two steps forward before you rushed into his arms.

The impact in his warmth was so overwhelming. So endearing.

The tears that had held themselves for so long fell during this sweet and sensational momentum between you two.

He lifts you and spins you around, a kiss pressed onto your soft and delicate lips.

"I missed you." He whispers softly as he carried you in his arms, his fingers wiping your stranded tear away.

"I missed you too."

I've been thinking that it's pretty hilarious how the so called ✨️ Four Kings of High Society ✨️ are:

- Ijekiel, 17 years old. At this point, just the son of Duke Alpheus.

- The son of House Irain, presumably around 14 judging by his face. No remarkable achievements that we know of other than being pretty.

- Lucas, actually old but 14 in physical age. He does have a little more going on, being a royal magician and the youngest leader of the tower.

- And Felix, who is about 35 years old. Leader of the royal guards, the emperor's right-hand man, and Knight of Crimson Blood who "single-handedly created a blood bath slaying the corrupted forces" in Obelia's civil war.

No wonder Felix was so embarrassed, they were putting him against literal brats. Just look at them: baby, baby, baby, war criminal— I mean, grown up man covered in blood.

To be fair, he does have a baby face.

Let's just say you know Athanasia from the past, You both work together at anything and everywhere just to pay up taxes. Unlike her, You Still had the chance to grow up with a Guardian but as you reach adulthood, they died from a sickness.

As time past by, You were growing weak and had to check it out on the doctor, Finding out something's tryna kill you (ok this is trash, i absolutely don't know any sickness that can kill you).

So to summarize, Yes it did kill you.

Now for some random reason, You wake up to a new world with Athanasia by yourside.

Your Anathancius Daughter from his made, Your mother is the Daughter of the Marquise, Anathancius was killed without him knowing your existance, Your mother begging Claude to take care of you in the future and not to kill you, Claude fell inlove when you were birthed and when your mother died he took you in as his own.

You were 2 at the time when a love between Dianna and Claude occured

When things gone hill, after Athy was born you had to beg Claude not to kill Athy with Lily

At some point he was gonna point a sword at you but you had something in you so you took a larger sword

Yeah ngl you were ready to fight him so Felix has to stop you

Time skip you were 7 when you met a 5 year old Athy and became actual besties💅

So when she went into coma, You were the one who keep everything in place from the place to her manas

Then this guy showed up saying his a powerful wizard and saying he knows how to cure Athy

He was almost killed by Claude because he disturb your tea time together to have peace from worrying

He told claude something and Claude went to kill out Athy's pet which you know she'll be upset if she heard it died lol

When Athy woke up, She keep ranting to you about this random dud and you can't help but agree

The next day Lucas showed up and was declared to be their playmate

Ofcourse Athy has to irritate him saying Ijiekiel is better than him making him send her right where Athy wants to be (Athy didn't want to)

You smacked his head

“OW WHAT WAS THAT FOR?!”

“FOR BEING AN IDIOT, HOW COULD YOU SENT ATHY THERE- YOU KNOW WHAT IM OUT TO HAVE A MEETING WITH ALPHEUS ANYWAYS BYE”

🦋 You guys started to get playful after a bit and had too much fun drawing on each other and eventually move on your faces, ending up looking messy and hilarious. While the grannies were just looking at you both fondly and then left you two with your sweet intimacy.

🦋 He got sad after you told him to clean it, he didn't want to erase it until you scolded him. But please dont scold him too hard.

Warrior Athanasia Aesthetic

Athanasia De Alger Obelia, the once forgotten princess now beloved by all, known as the Golden Lioness on the battlefield for her dangerous demeanour and ferocity in battle, aswell as her hair as bright as the sun, her battle cries resembling that of a lion. Her mana winds swirl around and around enemies to suffocate them of their very essence.

Her loyal advisor, Ijekiel Alpheus, is known as the 'Angelic' advisor for his quite frankly angelic appearance. Dressed in robes that flutter around him like angel wings, his words of wise, and his eyes of gold.

Both are dressed in traditional ancient obelian battle armour, one befitting a warrior and one befitting an advisor.
