Finished Friday will be a summary of a week's work as well as a day to show off my most recently completed work. This Finished Friday isn't huge but in my humble opinion, a charming one. I'm going through my chirimen stash and found a few adorable pieces I used to make a couple of clips. I enjoy making smaller items a lot! They fit everyday outfits and casual hairstyles, and I noticed many people enjoy them more than huge elaborate pieces. In comparison, maiko-inspired pieces are more of a special event accessory requiring both a special outfit and a hairdo that can sustain a heavy pin. Small clips, on the other side, are always there to brighten up your day! #wisteriagardens #kanzashi #finished #friday #finishedfriday #chirimen (w: Warsaw, Poland) https://www.instagram.com/p/CKowLg7gvfi/?igshid=19b7uijaardrg

To celebrate our snowy winter + my coming birthday + February monthly flower (plum blossoms!), I’ve decided to style one of my beloved houmongi. This outfit is much sweeter than what I am used to, but I think it works?
This kimono has a naturalist pattern of plum tree branches with blossoms rising to the sky (called in Japanese yariume/"spear plums" or tachibai/"rising plums"). I paired it with my kitsune no yomeiri (fox wedding) obi, and a matching soft gradient shibori obiage.
Some zest was then added with my murakumo* shibori haori, a fake leather obijime, some lace used as haneri, and my ume hairpin (made by @wisteriagardens).
*murakumo shibori is made by tying fabric around a pole, which gives those wave like stripes:

You've seen it coming! The new seasonal clips, which in two different versions, are inspired by January maiko kanzashi. One classic red, with a golden swirl in the middle and a hagoita (lucky game paddles used to drive away evil spirits) and one pink with a fluffy silk centre and sensu fans, which by unfolding shelter you from bad luck. What do you think of this new pink version? 🙂 #wisteriagardens #pieceofjapan #kisetsubana (w: Warsaw, Poland) https://www.instagram.com/p/CDLy-N5A9Un/?igshid=1w3h77gln1olm

4-Day Tokyo Trip
I was quite surprised when my high school friend contacted me a few months back. We didn’t meet each other for almost 8 years. Sometimes she chat me to ask some chemistry questions tho :D
‘Mba Lars, aku pengen ke Jepang. Kapan ya enaknya?’
I recommended her to come on Spring during Sakura season. But she refused because I couldn’t guide her at that time (read: sok sibuk).
‘Aku nggak ngejar sakura kok. Yang penting bisa jalan-jalan sama kamu.’
‘Kamu mau kemana aja tha?’
‘Terserah kamu pokoknya lars.’
Several weeks later she'd bought tickets for Golden Week. Then, here we go with the itinerary!
DAY 1.
- Lunch at Ayam Ya Okachimachi
https://www.halalgourmet.jp/restaurant/805
We began our Tokyo trip with Ayam Ya Okachimachi. As the name explained, Ayam Ya is a chicken ramen restaurant with Halal certificate in Japan. Easy to reach from Ueno Station or Okachimachi Station. It’s 2 minutes walk from Ueno Okachimachi Mosque. The place is soooo cozy and it’s one of the recommended restaurants for Muslim traveler in Tokyo.
- Asakusa
After a satisfying lunch at Ayam Ya and prayed at As-Salam Mosque, we continued our trip to Asakusa.
Our destination, of course, the famous Senso-ji Temple. It’s the oldest Buddhist temple in Tokyo. Always crowded during the holiday. It’s too crowded we couldn’t manage to have a good picture.
And a crowded sunny day isn’t perfect without ice cream, right?
Here in Asakusa you can find Halal Ice Cream in the middle of the famous Orange Street. The taste? The ice cream made from Soya and actually I don’t really like Soya milk, but not bad lah yaa :D
- Odaiba
From Asakusa we took the waterbus to Odaiba (Asakusa-Odaiba Cruise http://www.suijobus.co.jp/en/).
Why Odaiba? Because it’s my favourite spot to see sunset in Tokyo. :)
- Shibuya
Our next destination is Shibuya. Actually it’s not on our list yet. But Thata and Kak Lia want to have sushi for dinner. I couldn’t think of any sushi shop with Halal soy souce other than Genki Sushi (There’s Halal Sushi in Asakusa but it just too far to go back to Asakusa just to eat sushi :D). Shibuya is also quite far indeed. But close to their hotel in Shinjuku. So here we go! Took pictures with Hachiko and Shibuya Crossing then had dinner at Genki Sushi.
DAY 2.
- Imperial Palace
Since they changed their hotel from Keio Hotel Shinjuku to Tokyo Station Hotel in the morning, so I made time to visit Imperial Palace. It’s only 10 minutes walk from Tokyo Station.
- Ginza
The most famous upmarket shopping district in Tokyo. There’s one shop that I really love here, The Shiseido Ginza :)
Again, summer isn’t perfect without Ice Cream!
- Lunch at Rasa Malaysia Ginza
https://www.halalgourmet.jp/restaurant/86
No picture. Too hungry to take pictures. We just had Teh Tarik and Udang Crispy for our lunch. :D
- Wisteria Garden Ashikaga
I guess I need to write another chapter for this place. :)
- Dinner at Yakiniku Panga
https://www.halalgourmet.jp/restaurant/689
My number 1 favorite restaurant in Japan!! And these pictures explain everything!
DAY 3.
- Shibazakura
Will also make another chapter for this!
- Music Forest Kawaguchiko
Admiring place with the views of Mt.Fuji as the background, the beautiful flower and the green landscapes with dancing musical fountains. It is indeed an absolutely refreshing place.
- Dinner at Gyumon Yakiniku Shibuya
https://www.halalgourmet.jp/restaurant/609
Taste is amazing! But too tired to take pictures.
DAY 4.
- Tokyo Disney Sea
Will make a special edition for this.
- Dinner at Shinjuku Gyoen Ramen Ouka
Used to be my favorite place to eat Ramen. But I guess this is my first time to visit again after I moved from Yoyogi Uehara in 2015. Nothing’s change except for the price. What I miss the most is the dessert!
