It’s So Easy (And Other Lies) Chapter 28
Tumblr media
Title: It’s So Easy (And Other Lies) Chapter 28
Summary: Stevie Adler likes Duff McKagan. She has for a while now, but she is convinced Duff doesn’t like her that way. Duff likes Stevie, but so does their new bandmate Axl Rose.
Chapter Warnings: Language
AN: Thank you all for the feedback!!
Stevie was waiting at the airport. Izzy would be landing any minute and she promised him she would pick him up when he landed. It was still going to be awhile before Duff called from LA to tell her when his flight was. He had wanted to fly straight from New York, but Geffen wanted to have a meeting with them.
Izzy’s flight landed a couple minutes later, and the poor rock star looked dead on his feet as he walked through the gate. Stevie offered him a smile as she walked up to him.
“Hey Iz,” She gave him a hug. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah, I’m fine,” He looked around. “Where’s Hope?”
“She’s with Marie,” Stevie told him. “I explained what happened and she agreed to watch her for a bit. I thought you would want to have dinner, but you look tired.”
“How about we get Hope, go back to your place, and order something?” Izzy suggested. Stevie nodded. The two headed out to Stevie’s car, throwing Izzy’s things in the trunk. They headed over to Marie’s, where a couple of Duff’s sisters were fawning over the baby.
“You’re back?” Marie asked. “Everything okay?” She looked over at Izzy, who was loitering in the doorway.
“Izzy’s a little jetlagged,” Stevie admitted. “We’re gonna order a pizza to the house.” Izzy looked over at Hope, who had started crying.
“She doesn’t like bandanas,” Izzy told Joan. She pulled the bandana off her head, and Hope calmed some. But hearing Izzy’s voice made her reach for him, and he took her.
“I didn’t know she’d be scared of it,” Carol pointed out.
“She hates Axl’s. It terrifies her,” Izzy told her.
“You should be a nanny,” Marie piped up. Izzy turned to look at her. “You’re really good with Hope.”
“Uncle Izzy is the best,” Stevie added. “Hope loves him.” She gave Marie a hug. “Thanks for watching her.”
“Anytime my dear,” Marie nodded. Stevie got Hope’s things and Izzy carried her out to the car. Stevie watched as he buckled her into her carseat.
“You’re a natural,” Stevie told him. Izzy shrugged and shut the door. “You know Marie is right. You could be Hope’s nanny.” She smiled. Izzy chuckled a bit.
“I love her, but I don’t think I’m up for nanny duties,” The two got into the car and headed towards the house. Once they got there, Izzy took his bags to the guest room while Stevie brought Hope in and ordered food for the adults.
“Do you think uncle Izzy’s okay Hope?” Stevie asked her daughter after she hung up the phone.
“Uncle Izzy’s fine,” Izzy responded, making Stevie jump. She turned to look at the guitarist.
“I mean, Guns is your band…” Stevie told him. “If it wasn’t for you, there wouldn’t have been an us, you know?”
“It hasn’t been my band since Axl got a taste of fame,” Izzy told her. “It hasn’t been my band in a long time.” He headed into the living room and flopped onto the couch. Stevie got Hope situated before settling in her large chair.
“Iz, there is no band without you,” Stevie told him. “I mean, you guys proved you don’t need me.”
“That’s not true!”
“Izzy, it is,” Stevie sighed. “But there is no Guns n’ Roses without you. Because you write the songs the fans want to hear. You write the music. And as much as I love my husband, he’s too punk to keep it going on the same path it should be, and Axl won’t admit it but he’s too glam.” Izzy chuckled a bit.
“Things haven’t been the same since you left,” Izzy sighed. “Matt’s good and all, but he’s not our Rocket Queen.” He smirked a little. Stevie smacked his arm.
“You're as bad as Tommy,” She rolled her eyes. “But seriously though, you know that Duff and I’ll support you no matter what you decide to do.”
“I have some songs that Axl said didn’t fit our image. Maybe I could record those on my own?”
“There you go!” Stevie smiled. “And we know you can sing! You were holding out on us Mr. Stradlin.”
“I’m a man of many talents,” Izzy leaned back. Stevie shook her head as the doorbell rang. She got the money to pay for the food and traded the delivery boy for the food. She sat it on the coffee table and went to get drinks for them. Izzy smiled softly as he looked at the food. He heard Hope making her cute baby noises. Maybe being a nanny wouldn’t be so bad.
That was until Hope started crying. Izzy jumped, not expecting it. Princess Peach looked up from his bed but immediately went back to staring out the window. Stevie sighed and got up to check on Hope.
“You sure you don’t want to be Nanny Izzy?” Stevie laughed a little as she took Hope to change her. Izzy just shook his head.
“No, I think I’m perfectly fine just being Uncle Izzy.”
****
Later that evening, after Hope was in bed, Izzy was sitting on the couch, watching the Seattle news. Stevie came in from locking up the back door and handed him a bottle of beer.
“Uh, thanks,” Izzy accepted it. Stevie flopped down in her chair.
“So, wanna talk about it?” She asked. Izzy raised an eyebrow. “I know we kinda talked about it earlier.”
“Stevie, I’m fine,” Izzy sighed. “I didn’t realize that you had become a shrink on your maternity leave.”
“Okay, okay. Sorry.” Stevie took a sip of her drink, letting the TV fill the silence. Izzy sighed and picked at his beer bottle.
“Fourteen years,” He grumbled. Stevie looked up at him. “I think I realized I was gay when I was about 15. About the time that I met Axl.”
“Fourteen years of silence, fourteen years of pain,” Stevie looked up at him. “Why didn’t you say anything?”
“I was raised in a “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” type of environment. Lafayette isn’t known to include LGBT people, especially in the 70’s. And you see how they treated openly gay men in the 80’s Stevie. It took so much fucking courage to even tell you and Duff. And to tell Axl and…”
“What did he say to you?” She asked.
“Nothing,” Izzy sighed.
“Come on Iz, we’re being open. What did he say?”
“That’s what I mean. He said nothing,” Izzy told her. “He just...kinda stood there.”
“Oh…” Stevie nodded. “Maybe Axl isn’t the right guy for you, especially right now.” Izzy nodded. “But you know, Seattle has a really good club scene. Maybe we could find you a boyfriend. And the nanny offer is still open.” Izzy laughed.
“God, you’re determined, aren’t you?” Izzy smiled at her. “We’ll talk about it later. Right now, let’s watch a movie just like the old days?” Stevie nodded and went to pick out a movie for the two of them to watch.
****
Izzy kept Hope at home while Stevie went to pick Duff up from the airport a few days later. Geffon had been furious to find out that Izzy had quit, but all attempts to call him had failed, because he was in Seattle, not LA. Stevie brough Duff back home, Hope giving happy baby squeals when she saw her dad.
“So, how pissed is everyone at me?” Izzy asked as Duff placed little kisses all over his daughter’s face.
“Well, Slash, Matt, and Dizzy get it. Axl was fuming. And Geffon...already replaced you.” Duff explained. Stevie’s eyes widened and she looked over at Izzy.
“What? How?” She asked.
“His name is Gilby. He did a bunch of club shit around LA or something. He’s not bad but…”
“It doesn’t matter,” Izzy cut Duff off. “I’m done with Guns n’ Roses. They can have their Gilby or whatever the fuck they want to do. I’m done with it all.” Duff looked over at Stevie. Neither of them had heard Izzy get like this before. “Now, I found this thing I want to make for us. I need to go to the store. Can I borrow a car please?”
“Yeah,” Stevie gave Izzy the keys to her car and he headed out.
“What happened to Izzy?” Duff asked, staring at his wife.
“I think he’s tired after fourteen years,” Stevie told him. Duff looked confused. “The song is about his struggles. For the last fourteen years, he’s known he was gay and had to keep it a secret, and Axl really didn’t help.”
“I guess not everyone gets our happy ending,” Duff sighed, smiling at his daughter. All Stevie could do was nod.

The Lost French Prince  Chapter 10: Loin du froid de Decembre
Third POV
The entire Hamilsquad arrive at the royal palace known as the Chateau de Chavaniac where the birth of many royal Kings was born. Lafayette's eyes glisten with wonders and curiosity seeing that this place is empty the moment. Perhaps due to being early morning and people wanted to be indoors all warmed up. Though Lafayette could care less about the cold as he stares the beautiful flowers of snowdrops and Lenten roses. They have this pleasant welcoming smell to the French immigrants for some particular reason but couldn't understand why. Looking at the windows show a clear reflection of Lafayette's before being replaced with a recollection. Seeing an older boy playfully lifting his little brother into the air. It cause Lafayette shook his head a bit wondering if that was a memory or a figment of his imagination.
Lafayette and the others enter the palace where it was a restricted area before becoming a famous tourist place. Though they are some places in the palace that many people are forbidden to enter for an instant the late King and Queen bedroom along with the Princes bedroom as well. There was another area that was recently restricted due to the request of the Grand Emperor. Basically,y it was the ballroom in which was room a famous place that many enjoy it dearly. Though it was connected to the throne room in which was reasonable enough to be restricted. Though Lafayette didn't know that at all so he and the other's looked around the gardens both inside and outside. Alexander, John, and Hercules were looking at the famous painting of the Kings and Queens way back within the 1300s. Though Lafayette saw a case of stairs leading down.
All the items of elegant gold and silver plated, tea sets, and variety of jewelry never caught the French male attention instead it was a small box. This rectangular look quite familiar to Lafayette's eyes. It was a cream color and looked to be very fragile and delicate. About to be the size of a butterfly. This...This couldn't the music box...that Lafayette grandfathers' gave me to him..is it? Slowly taking the music box into large but gentle hands but as he did the doors to the restricted ballroom open. The French immigrant jumps up a bit as the doors open themselves, he knows better than to enter a restricted area. Though everything about being inside this palace seems to bring so many memories of perhaps imagination that Lafayette can't shake off.
"This place...brings..it brings so many unknown memories," Lafayette said to on particular
Slowly entering the restricted ballroom where Lafayette witnesses a few paintings that show the royal family of the King and Queen with their two sons. Soon there was another huge painting that captures Lafayette eyes in which appear to be the youngest prince with an elderly male. Though they looked quite happy together in this particular painting. Though each title of every single painting was scratch off as if someone wanted the Royal family to be forgotten. All the painting were still quite transparent since there was no dust on them.
"I..I...known this place...it's..from a dream" Lafayette whispers
Des images me reviennent
Comme des souvenirs tendres
D'une Ancienne ritournelle
Autrefois en décembre
Walking down two cases of stairs where it leads to him of the ballroom/ throne room together. Lafayette holds himself to feel warm and safe he once has with his birth family. This ballroom has triggers within Lafayette in which he could hear people laughing with joy and laughter. Along with beautiful music that began within an earful reach. Despite the ballroom being so gloomy and dark at the moment but Lafayette didn't felt the gloominess nor felt the cold wind blowing into the ballroom. Instead, he felt the light and the warmth as if it were spring.
Je me souviens il me semble
Des Jeux qu'on inventait ensemble
Je retrouve dans un sourire
La flamme de mes souvenirs
Right before Lafayette's eyes, the entire ballroom was lit up showing it beautiful gold and cream colors within the show. Along with other royalty and noble family dancing around as if they were celebrating a special occasion. Many of the noble family and Dukes and Duchess gracefully bowed to Lafayette as the French male return the offer. Not a moment to lose as the young French male began dancing around the room with happiness and joy. He never felt these emotions in such a long time but sure he has wonderful memories with Alexander and the Hamilsquad but this memory was different. This was something that Lafayette wanted for such a long time but yet he can't explain it why though.
Je me souviens il me semble
Des Jeux qu'on inventait ensemble
Je retrouve dans un sourire
La flamme de mes souvenirs
Lafayette regular dark jeans and navy blue polo shirt suddenly transform into formal clothing that was fit for a prince. A white dress shirt with a blue coat covering it with dark black pants. Soon three people appear right before him an elegant lady who looked extremely beautiful perhaps the most stunning women in the entire ball. Soon a well-dressed man smiles at Lafayette before giving him his own medal in which Lafayette didn't know it was a family traditional crest. Last but not least a young male not much older than the French immigrant just about 4 or 5 years older than him. They gave him a welcoming warm hug that Lafayette recognizes that was so familiar but also unknown. The older male and Lafayette play and laugh around the ballroom before both of them were dancing along with beautiful young ladies.
Je me souviens il me semble
Des Jeux qu'on inventait ensemble
Je retrouve dans un sourire
La flamme de mes souvenirs
Et au loin, un écho
Comme Une braise sous la centre
Un murmure à mi-mots
Que mon Coeur veut comprendre
Lafayette and the other young male were happily dancing with one woman to another. It was a magical moment until suddenly he was dancing with the same elegant lady. The lovely lady was none other than his birth mother but Lafayette doesn't she's the Queen of France while the young French immigrant is the youngest prince. The mother and son happily dance around the ballroom with everyone watching them.
Une Ancienne ritournelle
Lafayette felt tears streaming down his face but yet he didn't know why or when he started crying in the first place. Not knowing that he and his mother eventually stop dancing as the spirit of the late Queen gently caress her son's cheek. The spirits of the Late King and eldest prince smile with tears streaming in their face. Though it was a shame that Lafayette doesn't remember who he is not whom they are. Though they were always watching him, guiding him, loving through spirits. Hopefully, they can guide him to the Grand Emperor to be reunited once again as a family. Lafayette into his late mothers' touch, the mother that he forgotten and never notice at this moment.
Loin du Froid de décembre
Before Lafayette could speak everything around him just disappear into the ballroom/ throne room just went back to its gloomy states. Tears instantly disappear as Lafayette was left alone in the middle of the dance floor. just...Just was that? Everything around him was just magical but yet it seems so real like it all happen before losing his memories. Lafayette looked at the music box before slipping it into his pocket before exiting the restricted area. Luckily, no one ever saw him enter or exiting out of the ballroom as the doors close quietly behind.
"Hey, Lafayette! Come over here" Alexander shouted
Lafayette rushes over to the sound of Alexander's voice but looked back at the closed doors of the ballroom. Wasn't what is going on in this mysterious palace but hopefully, it would lead something about Lafayette past. Perhaps he can find something of what the royal family can lead him to.
Hello, my beloved readers and followers, I hope this chapter and give this stories a review or just favorite. Please and thank you. Also letting you all know that the song "Loin du Froid de Decembre" is from the French version of Anastasia most favorite song "Once upon a December". In which I don't any of the songs as they belong to their original creators.
that's all then folks

Consider These 3 factors before Opting Not to Hire Professional Gutter Installers
Tumblr media
If you’re ever in need of services involving gutters for your Lafayette, LA home, you might have come across the thought that it isn’t worth calling on professionals. This might be due mainly to the fact that you are going to shell out a significant chunk of your savings so you can hire their services. You then tend to live with a busted up gutter and later on regret that you haven’t addressed it earlier. Some even go as far as justifying not hiring professionals because they can do it on their own. While this is probably true for some, it’s not true for all.
This article does not promote the comparison between going DIY versus hiring a professional, no. This article strays from the normal argument of doing it yourself and hiring pros because well, there’s not really much to argue with that. It’s already a given that professionals win for the most part when it comes to gutter installation for Lafayette, LA homes.
Read this so you can rethink your decision of not hiring professionals in the first place.
Is quality a concern?
The first factor is quality. Now while some people are willing to compromise the quality of the installation itself just for them to save a couple of hundred bucks, one would be foolish to do so if you do so happen to take your home’s integrity seriously. See, whether you opt for the DIY process or your next-door neighbor to do the job, it doesn’t come close to the level of quality that professional gutter installers have. These people have been doing such jobs for years and are definitely continuing to do so as you read this article. You may have done with a couple of times but what does that have to say compared to them having done it for 5, 10, maybe even 15 years?
If you are concerned about the quality of the installation and are afraid of having to pay for backjobs in the future, better hire a professional.
Do you take your safety into consideration?
Do you have the right tools to use when opting for the DIY approach? Does that amateur service provider have them? Or does your neighbor have the technology available to have the gutters installed professionally? Well, most likely no. What does this mean exactly? Well, aside from the fact that having the right equipment helps the installation process, it also helps the people maintain their safety. Gutters aren’t components of the house that are easily accessible, no. They’re found all the way up on the roof. Some houses have 3 or even 4 floors, so accessing the gutters can definitely be a nightmare. While you might argue that it can be solved by ladders, you are actually putting yourself at risk the higher you go up. Professionals have the right equipment to deal with such heights without them having to worry about risking their health.
So if you do care for your own safety, hiring an amateur or opting to do it yourself is definitely out the window.
Do you have the time to do it yourself?
For most working professionals, time is definitely of the essence, and having to take down the old gutter system and replacing it with a new one isn’t one that caters to quick work. You would either have to sacrifice your time or not do it at all. If you do hire a professional, you are not only hiring to cover for time, you are hiring skills and expertise that make the job go a lot faster. So are you really going to sacrifice your own time and risk not making money or would you rather spend on professional services but have the opportunity to maximize your time in the process?
These are considered to be 3 of many factors to consider before you opt not to hire professional gutter installation for your Lafayette, LA home. The next time you do opt to delay addressing gutter issues so you can save money, think about this: you’re not simply spending on professionals, you are investing in your home. Hiring professionals is definitely the way to go even for such seemingly simple projects such as gutter repair or installation. You’re going to risk a lot by not hiring their services and opting to do DIY or hiring an amateur instead.

It's Only a Matter of Time
Prompt: REQUESTED BY ANON: Hamilsquad x reader where reader has a miscarriage Pairing: Poly!Hamilsquad X Reader TW: miscarriage, sobbing, feelings, mourning, loss, losing a child, pain, LOTS OF PAIN A/N: I struggled on this piece a bit. I wanted to do my best to portray the feelings of loss related to this topic. I know that everyone deals with this differently. I did enjoy writing it though, and I hope you enjoy reading it! Thank you to the anon who requested it! Also, thank you to everyone for the love and support! I love y'all! If you want me to tag something, please let me know! I want you to feel safe when reading my work! Please Enjoy! Word Count: 1053 The walls were painted in a pretty pink and white scheme. The pink was pastel-you had insisted. You didn’t want to think of Thomas Jefferson every time you went into the room. The floors were a warm, golden wood. There were a few shag carpets, alternating between pink and white that scattered through the rooms. There was a deep, padded window seat with blankets piled high. In the corner was a chest, filled to the brim with plush toys like bunnies, turtles, and lions. In the opposite corner was a rocking chair with a quilt slung over it. The wood matched the wood of the chest and the floor. The quilt was a rainbow of fabric. There were night lights shaped like castles plugged into the wall, which gave off dim, multicolored lights once the sun went down. Against one wall, there was a changing table stocked to the brim with supplies, meticulously planned. And against the opposite, light pink wall, was a crib. The wooden crib matched the rest of the wooden objects, the accents matched the room. A mobile of ducks hung over it, occasionally turning. Your boys had thought of everything when you had designed the room. You didn’t want your baby to want a single thing.
You didn’t decorate the room for a girl-you didn’t know the sex of the baby at the time-you just thought the color pink was really nice and comforting. You didn’t care what gender they were, you just knew they’d grow up liking the color pink. You had already named the baby Jacquelyn, and you were calling them Lenny. You had all been so excited to meet the new addition to the family, despite the fact that it was still early in the pregnancy.
You were sitting in the rocking chair, rocking back and forth with the bundle in your arms. You smiled down at it, readjusting the blankets and gently running your fingers over the soft bundle. You hummed quietly as you rocked, not wanting to wake it up. You had started lightly singing Complainte de la Butte, as it had already been decided that your baby would know French, Spanish, and English. Your boys had been excited to teach them their languages. When you finished Complainte de la Butte, you switched over to your favorite lullaby, Lullabye, by Billy Joel. You started to cry as you rocked, but you kept the wailing to a minimum so not as to wake it up.
“Someday we’ll all be gone, but lullabies go on and on…” your sobbing got harsher, and you clutched the blankets to your chest. “They-they never die,” you couldn’t get it, you were choking on the ending of the lullaby.
“Y/N?” A gentle voice asked from the doorway, but you didn’t look up. You just wanted to be alone. You just wanted to cry alone. You didn’t want them to see you like this. But of course, they would never leave you alone.
“‘Ey, Y/N,” the man crouched down in front of you and cupped your tear stained cheek. You slowly opened your eyes and looked up at Lafayette, and he had a pained look in his eyes.
“I’m sorry, Laf,” you choked out. You had stopped rocking, but you sill hugged your bundle to you.
“Shh, mon ange,” he crooned, and he pulled you out of the rocking chair and into his arms. “It’s not your fault. Please don’t blame yourself. You heard what the doctor said… sometimes, these things just happen.”
“He’s wrong!” You didn’t care about waking the baby anymore. You held the bundle in one arm and shoved him away from you, furious. “I should’ve been a better mother! I… I should’ve been more careful! It’s my fault!” You sniffled and wiped your eyes on your sleeve. “But I wasn’t… and all we have left is… is this!” You let the bundle fall from your arms and onto the floor. A toy lion rolled out of the loose blankets, and you crumpled. Laf moved to grab you, but you cringed away, your face scrunched up in misery.
When you had gone to the bathroom and found blood, you knew it was bad. You didn’t feel off. Sure, you’d had some cramping that day, but it was normal. Your boys took you to the emergency room, and you saw your doctor… He had explained what had happened… He had said something about a hostile womb, and that it’s not uncommon… but he was replaced by a full roar in your ears. Your boys had cried, but you just stared at the man while his mouth moved, unable to feel.
Your body shook with sobs, and Laf finally pulled you into his arms, holding you to him. You could feel him crying too, earth shattering sobbing from the both of you. How did people deal with this? How did they come back from this? There was no coming back from this, you decided. It was always going to be there. Always looming.
“It’s not your fault, Y/n,” Laf cried into your hair, and you clutched at his shirt. “We don’t blame you. It’s not your fault. I promise. Please, don’t blame yourself. We’ll make it through this, we’re 'ere with you, d'accord?”
You cried harder, but said nothing.
“Y/N? Laf?” You heard footsteps down the hall, and Alex came in, followed by John and Herc. They had been out shopping. You’d spent the last few days in the nursery, refusing to leave. They decided not to force you, and they left Laf to make sure you were okay. When they saw you, they immediately rushed to your side, a cluster of limbs and sniffling. They had lost a child, too.
“I miss them,” you strangled out, and Laf kissed the top of your head.
“I do, too,” Herc whispered from behind you.
“My little Lenny…” your voice broke on their name, and you began to sob again. No one said anything, for they were probably crying too. You all just stayed there in each other’s arms, crying, mourning. You were dealing with the unimaginable. You were surviving. Nothing would replace Lenny in your heart, but over time, maybe the loss wouldn’t hurt so much. It was only a matter of time. And you had time.

After George Floyd’s Death, Toll Rises in Protests Across the Country (NYT) Scores of American cities were on edge on Monday night as protesters faced off with the police for a seventh straight night since the death of George Floyd at the hands of the Minneapolis police. Curfews were ordered in New York City and throughout the country in an effort to stem the toll of deaths, injuries and vandalism that have accompanied demonstrations that grew violent. The clashes have echoed in the streets of at least 140 cities, and at least five people had died as the country entered another long night. An untold number more, including protesters and police officers, have been injured. Thousands of people have been arrested and fires, looting and vandalism have caused millions of dollars in damage to buildings and businesses. Amid demonstrations from the beach communities of California to the park right outside the White House, President Trump warned on Monday that he would order the military into American cities if officials could not get their streets under control. The growing toll came as a curfew was set starting at 11 p.m. in New York City—only the latest of dozens of cities, including Los Angeles, Chicago and Minneapolis, to order people to stay home as clashes have escalated. Nearly 20,000 members of the National Guard have been called up in 23 states.
The tear-gassing of Lafayette Square has now caused a diplomatic rift with Australia (The Week) People in China, where reporting on even small anti-government protests is censored, are getting full coverage of U.S. protesters and journalists being beaten and gassed by U.S. police, blinded by rubber bullets, and arrested in what looks like war zones. “Freedom is dead” in the U.S., Chinese wrote on social media, BBC News reports. “The U.S. police has lost all humanity.” European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said “like the people of the United States, we are shocked and appalled by the death of George Floyd,” adding that Europeans “support the right to peaceful protest” and “call for a de-escalation of tensions.” Australians, meanwhile, watched a widely broadcast clip of 7NEWS reporter Amelia Brace and cameraman Tim Myers being clubbed, punched in the face, and battered by federal police clearing Lafayette Square of protesters so President Trump could walk to a church and hold up a Bible for the cameras. Australian Foreign Minister Marise Payne expressed “strong concerns” about the assault on the Australian journalists. “We have asked the Australian embassy in Washington, D.C., to investigate this incident,” Payne said Tuesday. “I want to get further advice on how we would go about registering Australia’s strong concerns with the responsible local authorities in Washington,” suggesting a formal complaint will follow.
Brooms in hand, people patch up stores damaged in protests (AP) Carrying brooms, shovels, trash bags and cans of paint, thousands of people from Los Angeles to New York swept up glass from broken store windows, covered over graffiti and organized ransacked businesses Monday after protests over police killings of black people turned destructive once again. Bill Stuehler donned a mask Sunday and marched with a fellow nurse and other activists in Los Angeles, later trying to stop young people from breaking into stores and stealing. At home, he kept watching the violence on live feeds and fell deeper into despair. So before sunrise, the 66-year-old grabbed brooms, a rake and a trash shovel and drove to nearby Long Beach to clean up the mess. Soon, more than 2,000 people were working side by side, scrubbing, filling trash containers and repairing what they could in the hard-hit city south of Los Angeles. “It was pretty amazing to see the number of people turn out for the community,” Stuehler said. “It restored the faith in humanity that I had lost last night.” Throngs of people nationwide volunteered to help businesses—from small shops to major chains—bounce back from the damage, though some stores had burned to the ground and another night of unrest was expected.
Running into trouble: Eager pandemic exercisers rack up injuries (Washington Post) For people faced with more free time but fewer athletic options, overuse injuries are the painful flip side to the noble pursuit of “quarantoning” as getting toned during quarantine is known. Medical professionals and a footwear retailer on the receiving end of those distress calls say eager exercisers often overestimate how much of a new activity their musculoskeletal systems can handle. And they might do it again when they return to their gyms and studios after weeks or months away, expecting to be at the same level they were in March. Health-care professionals say they are seeing more injuries from bad home-office setups than from bad fitness forays, but physical therapists in particular say they are seeing both—and occasionally some creative person will combine the two. Kelly Roberts Lane, a physical therapist in Mahtomedi, Minn., said she is hearing from many office workers who wanted to take advantage of the unexpected downtime to get in shape but then went too hard too fast. “We’re going from sedentary at work to a ton of movement because we can,” Lane said, “and we’re just not conditioned for it yet.”
‘A national disgrace’: 40,600 deaths tied to U.S. nursing homes (USA Today) Over the last three months, more than 40,600 long-term care residents and workers have died of COVID-19—about 40% of the nation’s death toll attributed to the coronavirus, according to an analysis of state data gathered by USA TODAY. That number eclipses a count released Monday by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the federal government’s first attempt at a comprehensive tally. CMS said 25,923 residents had died, but its number only includes federally regulated nursing homes, not assisted living facilities. Even USA TODAY’s larger total—which amounts to roughly 450 COVID-19 elder care facility deaths per day—is an undercount. Seven states did not provide the number of deaths in long-term care. And New York, the state with the most resident deaths, doesn’t include those who had been transferred to hospitals in its count of long-term care fatalities.
Mexico begins lifting lockdown (NYT) Mexico on Monday lifted a 70-day coronavirus lockdown, but the federal and local governments replaced it with a contradictory patchwork of measures as the country struggled to contain the outbreak. The nation’s coronavirus czar, Hugo López-Gatell, took a hard line, saying that federal guidelines on opening businesses would barely budge. But several governors defied the federal government’s orders, allowing shops and hotels in their states to open at least partially.
U.K. and EU plan crunch talks (Foreign Policy) British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen are headed for talks this month aimed at resolving post-Brexit trade negotiations between the two sides, the Financial Times reports. It comes as the deadline for the United Kingdom to request a two-year extension approaches at the end of June. Johnson has remained adamant that the U.K. must conclude a deal before Dec. 31, but trade negotiations have recently been bogged down—first because of coronavirus-related delays and now due to disagreements over fisheries and a common regulatory framework.
Indian metropolis of Mumbai braces for rare cyclone (AP) A cyclone in the Arabian Sea is barreling toward India’s business capital Mumbai, threatening to deliver high winds and flooding to an area already struggling with the nation’s highest number of coronavirus infections and deaths.
Poor countries, skyrocketing debt (NYT) The low interest rates of the past decade led to an unlikely alliance between poor countries and international investors. Governments, state-owned companies and other businesses were able to raise money relatively cheaply to finance their growth, while investors searching for better returns than they were getting at home gobbled up that debt. As a result, developing countries owe record amounts of money to investors, governments and others outside their borders: $2.1 trillion for countries ranked as “low income” and “lower-middle income” by the World Bank, including Afghanistan, Chad, Bolivia and Zimbabwe. Now, the pandemic is fraying that alliance. Economic activity has ground to a halt. Governments are on the hook for billions of dollars in interest and principal repayments—payments suddenly made more expensive by volatility in the currency markets at the same time that public health costs are skyrocketing. And their investors are not in a forgiving mood. “This is really unlike anything we have seen,” said Mitu Gulati, a law professor at Duke University who studies the debts of countries, or sovereign debt. “The last time we had this many countries likely to go under at the same time was in the 1980s.” In Latin America, that period was known as La Década Perdida—The Lost Decade.
Hong Kong leader calls out ‘double standards’ on national security, points to U.S. (Reuters) Hong Kong leader Carrie Lam accused foreign governments on Tuesday of “double standards” in their reaction to Beijing’s plans to impose national security laws on the city, pointing to anti-police brutality protests in the United States. In her first public appearance after Washington said it will remove Hong Kong’s preferential treatment in U.S. law in response to Beijing’s plans, Lam warned countries threatening actions against the city that they may hurt their own interests. “They are very concerned about their own national security, but on our national security...they look through tinted glasses,” Lam told a weekly news conference. “In the U.S., we see how the riots were being handled by the local governments, compared to the stance they adopted when almost the same riots happened in Hong Kong last year.”
Schools reopen as Singapore eases lockdown restrictions (Reuters) With temperatures checked, masks fitted, and hand sanitizers at the ready, many Singapore children returned to school on Tuesday after a novel coronavirus lockdown of nearly two months. With one of the highest coronavirus tallies in Asia, Singapore has said it will ease restrictions gradually, with the registry of marriages and some businesses, including pet salons, also reopening on Tuesday.
Ebola in Congo (NYT) Congo’s health minister confirmed the discovery of a new Ebola case in the country’s Équateur province, which last saw an outbreak of the highly deadly virus in 2018, ultimately killing 33 people there. The new outbreak in Équateur would be Congo’s 11th since the virus was first identified in 1976. Experimental vaccines have proved effective in preventing the spread of Ebola, but no cure has been found.

Evolution of Locksmith Services
The very first thinking about a locksmith that comes to one's mind is getting locked out of one's car. This is one of the most common locksmith services but a locksmith can do many things for your home as well. It is unfortunate that most of these services happen under unlucky circumstances which can be changing the locks to keep out unwanted guests, being locked out of your home and inspecting your house after a theft, burglary, earthquake or fire. Locksmiths have been traditionally thought of being artisans. It's easy to imagine about the first locks and locksmiths being seen as having mystical powers. These days, new locks and locking technology have modernized the previous knowledge of the locksmith profession.
24-Hour Locksmith service
Many locksmiths offer and specialize in 24-hour service and they usually don't make locks but perform lock repair, lock-picking and other urgent keying services. In case of any bad incident and someone does break into your home, your first call is going to be to the police but it's not a bad idea to call a 24-hour locksmith as they may be able to tell you exactly how the crook entered your home. In addition, your locks probably would need to be replaced. Better yet, if you are not sure how secure your home is, you can hire a locksmith to test your entrances and give you an honest advice about your home's security. If you will call a locksmith off hours than payment of surcharge would be expected.
Modern Locksmith Services
Several locksmith companies offer services and technologies that are well beyond conventional lock-picking and replacement. Locks having electronic and magnetic systems are becoming more affordable and accessible to home owners. Comprehensive companies offer a combination of locksmith services and home security systems which includes home safes, secure doors, intercoms, windows and gates with the latest technologies such as fingerprint readers. Of course no home security system is impenetrable but one can get pretty close. A casual thief will not be able to break in and the experienced burglar is probably going to pass over your home. It's not of any surprise if you are not familiar with any famous locksmiths because many locksmiths prefer to keep a low profile except to gain an honest business. It is important to mention that there well-known locksmiths who are famous for their skills of lock pickers and they dominate the hobby. But for the famous locksmiths who take their profession more seriously, little is known to the public eye.

28 March 2000 - Kremlin Bicêtre army base, Montmartre, top of the Grande Arche de La Défense and last time for 2000 on the M8
Bonjour mesdames et messieurs!
Today is Tuesday the 28th March 2000, and the last full day of my visit to Paris.  What should we do today?  I have always enjoyed going to Sacre Coeur de Montmartre, and have always wanted to go to the top of the Grande Arche de La Défense, as I had previously done on the Arc de Triomphe and Eiffel Tower.  There was one curiosity on the left bank, just south of the Paris city limits towards Villejuif through Place d'Italie.  Before I made a plan, I had to have breakfast at 6:45 AM.  I decided first to go to the Forte de Bicêtre at Kremlin Bicêtre.
About 7 AM I walked to the Crozatier bus stop on Rue du Faubourg St. Antoine and Rue Crozatier, just a few hundred meters from Rue Trousseau.  I boarded bus line 86 and took it as far as the Sully Morland Metro station, via Bastille.  At Sully Morland I could catch the M7 to Villejuif and stop at the Kremlin Bicêtre. However I was a bit impatient and caught the Mairie d'Ivry branch train.  Two stops after Place d'Italie, I had to alight at Maison Blanche and wait on the next train to Villejuif Louis Aragon.  From there it was just one metro stop away to Le Kremlin Bicêtre.
What was expected to be at the Fort de Bicêtre at Kremlin Bicêtre?  It is an actual fortress.  It is not as exciting to see as the one in Moscow.  And there is no external mausoleum for any leader that I am aware of. From the Kremlin Bicêtre metro stop, I took the bus line 47 to Barnufles la Piscine and walked down Avenue Charles Gide to the driveway of Fort de Bicêtre and then uphill to the northern gates. At the time it was not equipped to handle visitors, so there was nothing much to do but stand outside the big green gate with FORT DE BICÊTRE in big letters.  Note from Wikipedia:  "Since it is still used by the Ministry of Defense, the fort is closed to the public. However, tours are organized for European Heritage Days in September.".  About 7:55 AM I went back to the metro station and around 8:06 AM I boarded the M7 on the way back to the AIJ to get some more freshly charged camera batteries.
I took the M7 to Place d'Italie and changed for the M5 to Bastille.  The ride went uneventful until 8:23 AM when an Eric Clapton impersonator boarded the M5 at Gare d'Austerlitz.  While the train was crossing the Seine for Quai de la Rapée, he performed a nice guitar solo of "Tears in Heaven".  That lasted until a minute prior to the train reaching Bastille, when he did an alto saxophone solo of a different song.  The train reached Bastille about 8:30 AM.
I went one stop on the M8 to Ledru Rollin.  There was a bunch of children, maybe about 50 of them, leaving the AIJ.  They were lined up on the Rue du Faubourg St Antoine just after Chez Tony.  I went to my room and collected one of my video camera batteries and about 9:30 AM I left for the city limit at Porte de Charenton, seven stops away from Ledru Rollin. There was a city boundary bus line that I could take to Porte de Bagnolet via Porte de Vincennes.
At Porte de Bagnolet I could take the M3 to Gambetta.  Gambetta used to be a branch off the M3 line for Les Lilas, but it became a separate line known as the M3Bis.  There was supposed to be a station after Porte de Lilas called Haxo, which would connect to the 7Bis line, but the plan was tabled, and it seems like Haxo would need to be reconstructed in order to be able to be used, possibly for a future M17 line or so I have heard.  The 3Bis stations don't look too much different than those built in the 1920s to 1940s.  The one thing I noticed about Porte des Lilas, at the north end of the 3Bis exit platform, was an upwards escalator with wooden steps.  I had not seen such an escalator since the 1970s when I first rode the Northern Line in London.  Back then London Underground was operating 1938 tube stock, the one with wooden flooring, similar to that of the escalators.
At Porte des Lilas, I had a quick snack of a lemon crêpe.  It tasted good also with powdered sugar.  Not bad for about 10 FF.  I then took the M11 to Belleville and transferred to the M2 which I rode until I arrived at Anvers.  Anvers is the southern access point for the Montmartre and its respective funicular train at Place Saint Pierre.  The train requires the same fare as the Metro.  Paris Visite is also valid.  I spent maybe twenty minutes looking at the Sacre Coeur and then southeast towards Gare du Nord, République, Bagnolet and Vincennes.  I saw a "living statue" standing on the pillar of the stairway to Sacre Coeur.  The noontime bells rang.  Then I took the funicular down.  I returned again in April 2008, February 2009 and September 2011, and spent more time exploring the nouveaux artes area between Rue Norvins and Rue de Saules. Even one time I spent an evening at the Lapin Agile on Rue de Saules.
I wanted to walk from the funicular station to Pigalle.  I walked from Place St Pierre on Rue d'Orsel, then Rue des Martyrs and I ended up at 12:30 PM at the Pigalle station.  Sadly the Moulin Rouge was nowhere to be seen.  It turns out that the actual Moulin Rouge is close to the Pigalle station and is along Boulevard de Clichy, but is closest to the Blanche station, just one metro stop away.
I caught the M2 to Place de Clichy, transferred to the M13 and went northeast to St Denis Université. At La Fourche, is the separation station, where the M13 separates for two branches, one to Gabriel Péri and the other to St Denis Université.  The M13 branch to Gabriel Péri has since been extended two stations to Asnières-Gennevilliers Les Courtilles.  At Saint Denis Université there was not much of touristic value to see, so I had a sandwich at a nearby bar.  About 1:20 PM I took a bus which I thought would take me to the St Denis RER D station, but somehow I ended up at Garges-Sarcelles instead.  I took the southbound RER D line as far as Chatelet Les Halles to connect with the RER A line for La Défense.  I did not reach La Défense until 2:40 PM.
To access the Grande Arche, you have to go under the stairway kind of on the southeast side, and then go to the admissions window.  Or you could go up the stairs and back down by the escalator.  They were giving a 33% discount off the regular admission price because of the foggy weather.  Going up is by glass elevator.  I think it was about ten to twelve stories high.  Access to the paying public is through the top two floors.  There was an art gallery plus a room with small scale models, about 1:1,000 scale, of the Grande Arche and neighboring buildings around La Défense.  There was a video about how the Grande Arche was designed and what building materials were used.  Previously the outside was designed with marble, but it had to be replaced from 2010 to 2017 with granite.  This may explain as to why I was unable in September 2011 to visit the Grande Arche. There were also some aerial photographic maps, of the area including Champs Elysées to La Défense, and you could see the top of the Arc de Triomphe, Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, the Orangerie, and also the Bastille.
The point of going to the top of the Grande Arche de La Défense, was to go to the observation level. As it was not raining, it was possible to go upstairs to see as far as the Arc de Triomphe, and maybe also the Eiffel Tower.  The fog was so bad, that I could barely see "L'AN 2000" on the Eiffel Tower. The camera could not see it properly. The Arc de Triomphe was not much better.
I went back down about 4 PM, and walked to the Bassin Takis at Place des Pyramides, located directly above the Metro Station Esplanade de La Défense.  That was the splash pool that I remember from August 1997, where the light poles had blinking lights, and they were more active during the summer. Looking southeast from there, I could see the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe.  By then the fog situation may have improved, but I had already moved on.
I went for another walk about 5 PM on the Champs Elysées and then I took a ride from Auber-Boulevard Haussmann Saint Lazare station on the RER E.  The escalator had a two level incline, with a flat section in the middle. Basically down – flat – down.  I rode one station to Magenta.  I went back to Haussmann Saint Lazare on the same line. I went into both the Printemps and Galleries de Lafayette.  I think I spent an hour in total between both places.
The rest of the evening I did some more shopping and then a burger at Quick.  I walked to the Place de la Concorde and the Grand Palais.  At Concorde there was a large ferris wheel.
I made one last ride with the M8, to Balard.  That was the western end of the line, where Créteil Préfecture was the southeast terminus. Note, it was since extended to Créteil Pointe du Lac.  I spent five minutes at Balard, from 9:30 PM to 9:35 PM.  Then I went back, and it took only 30 minutes to reach Ledru Rollin. I went to bed about 10:40 PM.
The next morning, Wednesday the 29th March, I woke up about 6:50 AM.  I had a 1 PM flight from CDG T1 to San Francisco.   I had my last breakfast at the AIJ, took a shower, packed my belongings, checked out and caught the line 86 to the Bastille metro station – so that I would not need to go up and down stairs while transferring from the M8 to the M5. I took M5 to Gare du Nord to transfer to the RER B.  By 9:15 AM I was on the RER B platform and sat on a strapontin (folding seat) close to the door.  I caught the 9:30 AM train to CDG T2.  It stopped at Sevran Beaudottes at 9:38 AM.  I arrived at the Roissypôle station at 9:50 AM.  It took maybe seven minutes for the shuttle bus to arrive to take me to CDG Aérogare 1.  The bus departed for the terminal using the access roads, and passing by the abandoned SK6000 railway that would eventually become part of the existing CDGVAL.  The bus ended just outside the southeast end of the CDGVAL station, and everyone alighted.  I entered Aérogare 1 about 10:05 AM and checked into my United flight, nonstop to San Francisco.
CDG Aérogare 1 is shaped in a circle, that just over 270 degrees can be used as airline gates.  I think seven terminals exist as satellite gates, each one with an underground travellator, after clearing the initial security gates. In the middle is a large fountain, and you can see the hamster tubes with escalators.
I was not quite ready to go through the security gates and Schengen zone passport control.  In the meantime I bought a few magazines, and a couple of music cassettes at the record store.  I remember in August 1997 and August 1998 buying cassettes from the same place.
About 11:45 AM I crossed the security gates and had my passport stamped as having exited France and the Schengen Zone.   I went on the travellator to the United Airlines terminal and waited until about 12:45 AM to board the plane.  In the meantime there was a snack bar in case I were hungry.
At 1 PM the flight was ready to board.  I took my place towards row 30 in the 777 aircraft.  I think the flight was about 11 hours long.  Since the USA at the time did not switch to daylight saving time until the first Sunday in April, the time difference between Paris and San Francisco was 10 hours.
I arrived about 2:30 PM Pacific Standard Time in San Francisco, landing at Terminal 2, having my passport checked and luggage inspected.  After that, I was legally in the USA.  I took the shuttle from the airport to the Millbrae Caltrain station, took the train to Hillsdale station, and transferred to the SamTrans bus line 252 to the intersection of Hillsdale and Edgewater Boulevard in Foster City.  It felt good to return home.  My car was still in its stall.  The next day, 30th March 2000, I returned to work.  My next overseas journey would be Tuesday 5th September to Wednesday 20th September 2000, and then to Italy, Austria, Germany and Switzerland, and a little bit of France at Bellegarde.
Well that was the last of my journey to Paris for March 2000.  I hope you enjoyed.
 Au revoir, et bonne santé!

Garage Door Repair is a Job For the Professionals
From malfunctioning openers to broken springs, when your garage door isn't working properly it can be a real hassle. That's why you need to call your local garage door contractor today! Specializing in installation and repair, these professionals can help you resolve just about any problem to help get your door back in working order fast.
Although garage door repair may appear straightforward, it should always be left to the professionals. It may seem easy enough, but these repairs can actually be quite dangerous. For correct, complete repair and your personal safety, don't try to handle difficult fixes yourself. Your local repairman has the experience, qualifications, and training to efficiently diagnose and repair your door. Safe and affordable, there's really no reason not to call the experts!
Your local contractors should be able to fix just about any issue, including:
Spring replacement (torsion and extension)
Door section replacement
Door window repair
Track realignment and repair
Cable replacement
Door replacement
Garage door opener installation and repair
Routine maintenance
And more!
Spring Repair
This specialized repair service is key for safely replacing or repairing damaged garage door springs. Springs are used to aide in raising and lowering both manual and automatic doors, helping counteract the weight of the door. But over time they will wear out. A routine maintenance task for any garage, your springs will need to be replaced approximately every seven years depending on frequency of use.
Spring repair can be a dangerous proposition. The weight of your doors puts tension on the massive springs, making them potentially hazardous to the amateur or DIY repairman. For your safety, you need to have a professional contractor handle all spring repairs and replacement. They have the knowledge, specialized tools, and experience to safely tackle the challenges of both extension and torsion spring repair.

Locksmith Varies - Do You Need Auto Locksmiths, Safe Specialist Or Commercial Lock Guy?
Have you misplaced the keys to your cabin at the lake or forgotten the combination to a safe at the office? Did you just break off your car key in the ignition? Maybe someone stole your purse, and you're concerned that you need to change the locks at your house. Stop worrying. you can get help right away from professional locksmith.
Automotive Locksmith Services
Can't open your car doors? Stuck in the middle of nowhere? Don't worry, because help is just a phone call away. All you have to do is get on your phone and dial one of the local 24-hour automotive locksmith services. But if you think that locksmiths just help open your car door, then think again.
Locksmiths arrive on location fully equipped to handle any emergency. They can unlock the simplest locks and decode the toughest computerized lock systems.
Many modern vehicles have automatic locks or key-less entry systems. Automotive locksmiths can repair or reconfigure these locks as easily as an old-fashioned keyed lock. Having the locksmith do this for you will save you big bucks over having your car towed to the dealership.
Professional automotive locksmiths are equipped to handle whatever strange thing you, your toddler or the local car thief may do to your car and its key systems. They possess the special tools and equipment to meet any need. Other automotive locksmith services include:
Opening your car doors or trunk in an emergency without damaging the lock.
Retrieving keys that are broken off in the lock.
Replacing and repairing ignition locks on many models
Re-keying door, trunk and ignition locks
Erasing old keys from locks
Most locksmiths offer vehicle security-related services around the clock, not only 24 hours a day but also on weekends and holidays. Keep the number stored in your phone - you will never know when you need it. Choose your automotive locksmith wisely. It's a decision that will help keep your car in great shape and keep you safe.
Residential Locksmiths
Modern technology has made available better security systems to protect your home, and those systems start with good locks. A residential locksmith will help you decide what types of locks you need for all the windows and doors in your home.
Locksmiths can install locks of many different types in your home, depending on your security needs. If you live in a quiet, suburban neighborhood, for instance, your locksmith can install a simple single-side deadbolt. On the other hand, if you are protecting a valuable art collection in your home, a locksmith can provide high-tech locks that include biometric features. Locksmiths can also install safes and vaults for your jewelry, coin collection, the family silver, furs or whatever other valuables you want to keep safe.
Many locksmith services can even install an electronic access control system in your home. The electronically controlled locks that come with such a system can make your home very safe.
Many locksmiths offer 24-hour residential locksmith services. They perform emergency keying services like lock picking and lock repair. When you've forgotten the code to your electronic locks, locksmiths can even get you past the password-protected entries. They can also provide lock replacement and test your doors to appraise your home security.
Commercial Locksmiths
Commercial and industrial locks may or may not resemble residential locks, depending on what type of business they are protecting. A small town in a safe part of town may have a simple double-sided deadbolt. A high-tech manufacturing company that may have lucrative technology inside is obviously going to protect itself in a different way, perhaps with card keys or even biometric locking systems. Professional commercial locksmith services exist precisely to assess the needs of all types of businesses and meet the needs of each with a customized solution.
Other services offered by commercial locksmiths include:
Setting up a master key system
Installing professional-grade safes and vaults
Unlocking those same safes and vaults when you lose or forget the combination or codes
Installing specialty locks like rim-cylinder locks and commercial deadbolts
Re-keying and repairing locks
Professional Locksmith can Offer Much More
1. Fast Services: Professional locksmiths are ready to handle any kind of emergency and provide guaranteed services. They are trained in troubleshooting methods and can handle difficult situations with ease. Your problem can typically be resolved in less than 30 minutes, whether at your home, office or car.

The same locksmith who installs new locks at your home can service your business or meet you in a parking lot to open your car door.
3. License & insurances: Most locksmith services are professional and licensed by local government and police authorities. With these professional, the security of your vehicle and home is in good hands.
4. New locks and newer locking technologies have expanded the scope of locksmiths' work. There are many good online resources for finding information on locksmith. You can get a reputable locksmith service for emergency needs or to provide your home or business with a complete lock system for your family or your company's safety.
