Thing about Rescue Team DX I don’t like is that it’ll tweak small visual things about the original and it’ll take away some really neat little things about the original
#like i might be wrong abt this tbf but the bit on xatu’s lookout when gengar is spying#and when he goes ‘’who would have thought hero was human?’’ he gets this frown on his face w the upset blue background in his icon#and its not like a massive shift but its the first time you see him frown and lower his arrogant guard#and its not something you linger on too much but is interesting once you see the plot twist and you wonder what was going through his head#but in the remake he just has his default expression. so its the same moment but that little hint and interesting replay value is gone#its so little but it adds a lot#tbf i could be confusing this with a similar bit when hes pitting pokemon square against you#and he gets that same expression when he says something like ‘’who can trust someone that vile’’ or something#but iirc the remake removes that as well??#also eve said this too but they removed the townsfolk trying to attack hero in the square BOOOOOOOOO#where is the DRAMA!!!!! the FLAIR!!!!#echoed voice#pmd posting

it’s the way Ryan Gosling plays Ken’s feelings for Barbie for me. because the feelings are unreal and fake in the way of a doll but they’re also intensely real in the way of his actual personality/who he actually is.
#it’s the way he looks at her sometimes when she isn’t looking at him#and it’s just full of intense longing and vulnerability#so it’s that combination that I love SO much#which is over-the-top cartoonish-ness that’s full of PERSONALITY and excess and conviction#and then this core of -well I already said it but INTENSE vulnerability#it’s Michael Scott in love with Holly. It’s Schmidt in love with Cece#and the way Ryan plays it is even more so because he’s a doll and of course in a real way his love for her is not a real thing#BUT IN AN EVEN REALER WAY——#To paraphrase Michael Scott (!!!!!)#it’s the realest thing anyone in Barbieland has ever known (to paraphrase Taylor)!#like he’s the only one trying to do anything real!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!#and so for me my Barbie takes are all secondhand#because the story they’re telling has some narrative cracks and weaknesses in it#but also I kind of don’t care because they’re not focusing on the story that is the most interesting to me personally#which is this hilarious icon of a cartoon man who is—somewhere in the depths of his little plastic Ken heart—really in love#and I know it seems like I’m just repeating and twisting what the movie DOES say. that he’s in love but it’s fake and he has to get over it#to be his own person#but that’s only the one layer for me!!!!!!#and it’s a true one. I actually love his existential crisis and the moment where he’s forced to be his own person (doll)#and that’s the best thing Barbie could do for him in that moment#but it only addresses part of the situation —the part of his feelings that are fake. it doesn’t actually see or do anything#with the real love that’s also somehow by the magic of personality there#And it pretends it isn’t. BUT IT IS ALSKKSKSJEJJE#like I’m SORRY but he is just an absolute magnet for her and he’s so deeply responsive to her presence underneath all of the exaggeration#it’s in his eyes it’s in his voice!!!!! like. Sorry I know love when I see it akskksksksksjsj#and yeah that love is very decidedly not in her character and at this stage that made sense for it not to be#because of her journey to humanity etc. but I wanted them to do something with that real love in Ken and they don’t even see it#which is OKAY because tbh I’m mostly just delighted that it’s THERE#but yeah. That’s the most interesting part of the movie to me#how could it not be

this is specifically true in the area of names, which seems kind of insane, but even like something as minute as stan's maternal grandfather's name being joaquin and shortened to 'walk' by william phillips, stan's abuelos secret sbf lover in ww2, and stan's middle-name-sake who walk called run, is important because will-phil's war-torn, heirloom leather jacket which was given to stan's gpa seconds before run did what all white men should do ( go die in a war ) had now become Stan's Signature Leather Jacket, which was a huge ( like literally its gigantic ) part of his identity as a young transman but in a meptahorical sense, that red string of fate that tipsy!gpa!walk hand embroidered into the tag of his lover's jacket which stan wore with pride ( also literally ) is a physical testament to two men's true blue love for each other, represents revolution/rebirth & also says R-U-N.
...which is Exactly what stan does.

I need people to understand that when I talk shit about men I'm talking shit about a specific breed of men. they are cisgendered, they are in many cases anglo with conservative views, they are almost always hetero-identifying, they assert their (fragile) masculinity when threatened and use it to their advantage while they fear the liberation of femininity or genderless concepts, they see the world as a conquest, and everything in it for the taking. "just say dudebro" well. that word doesn't hold enough weight to me.

since you posted about it what are your headcanons about dabi and bisexuality? has he ever had a boyfriend? how/when did he find out about his sexuality? that kind of thing 🐱
I'm sure I made some sort of HC post about it at some point but I'm too lazy to go looking so like I'll just ramble about it shall I ? ;
For Dabi he doesn't really "know" hes bisexual based on experience with men and woman as much as he suspects he just is and hes chill with that. While he doesn't have the "drive" to go out and attempt to get real life experience with sex and romance, he'd personally describe it as not really "caring" and thus that makes him Bi, y'know ?
If that wasn't enough and he was asked why he thinks he could be bi if he's never been with a guy before ( provided he was forced to answer and someone knew to ask such a question in the first place ) he'd only have porn to go off so he'd probably explain it as something like he's seen girls get fucked and he's seen guys get fucked by other guys and he feels around about the same way about both things therefore hes gotta be bi.
He's also come across guys he thinks are attractive. He wouldn't really try to make moves on them but if they made a move on him he wouldn't be upset about it, he'd just be awkward.
His preference is pretty boys because he does have some toxic masculinity issues from being someone who raised himself on the street and had to make sure he was always confident and strong and so projecting and protecting an idea of masculinity was important aspect of that and the threat to that was always being perceived as not masculine. Like its not a hard no on other types of men, he'd just need to know/trust them to actually acknowledge he's attracted to them if they were on the more masc side.
He does not have the same issue with women, obviously. They can be as masc as they like, if they're hot they're hot, this said, though, he is not making moves. And he'd feel awkward if they did because he wouldn't fully believe its genuine. IDK CONTEXT would matter but in general Dabi's not looking and if a random person flirted with him of any gender he'd probably miss it or feel very confused and wouldn't believe they're serious.
On another way weirder note: Dabi kinda finds anyone he could burn hot... ( Pun intended ) The more flammable someone is the better and I know this is really funny and insane because most humans are flammable, especially when it comes to Dabi, which in some weird way might contribute to his idea of sexuality and the perception that he's def bi.
But sexuality and exploring it has been a really low priority in Dabi's life. Like, his living situation and his mental and physical health has kept this way out of his line of priorities.
This being said if he had the chance to indulge his suspicion in a safe/comfortable way he'd probably take it, just for the sake of it, just for the new experience and the fact he's a sucker for feeling loved and wanted and desirable as an abandoned child who was victim of extreme emotional abuse and neglect and thus continually forced to feel like he was never any of these things to the point he was there contemplating suicide as young as 8, along with being disabled and disfigured as an adult so he is not immune to the fantasy of being wanted but he does have severe issues with shit like having kind of an anxious / avoidant attachment style so he'd be a real pain in the ass to deal with in a traditional relationship probably. Keeping in mind most people probably wouldn't expect their boyfriend/lover to have the issues Dabi has.
Then theres the radical ideology, the suicidal ideation, the pyromania. Lots of fun if you're into fcked up little freaks but yeah, no, I think Dabi is kind of aware he could never have a "traditional" relationship with anyone, man or woman, regardless to being "interested" in both ( at least at this point in his life anyway, AUs/future verses might be different ) which is generally a bit discouraging on top of it all since "whats the point" but if he stumbled into something as weird and non-conformist as he is, and it got a chance to get off the ground he might not be so against the idea and it might alter his view of whether or not having a "relationship" is "worth" the "effort".

You didn’t understand how some people on the internet can be so . . . mean. Although there have been countless of fans cheering you and Tom on, it didn’t make it any less hurtful that there were still a ton who weren’t scared to be open about how much your boyfriend could do better.
It’s ironic; you think. They’re claiming they’re looking out for Tom, yet totally disregarding him and his girlfriend as human beings? Those weren’t real fans.
The reason for them hating you so much? Just for simply being with Tom. Everybody wanted him, that was your crime.
Everytime you got lost in your thoughts about this topic, Tom knew. Boyfriend instincts, he called them, but really, he was just a caring and observant person.
You tried not to break down over it, you really did, but a girl could only go on for so long before it all bursts out. Luckily, Tom pulls you right in, telling you to let it all out.
Although the world was filled with childish and hurtful beings, Tom Blyth was still who he was, a gentleman, attending to your every needs.
