Knowing how left-leaning their audience is I definitely think it's been a cop-out on dnp's behalf to not say enough about the genocide, especially considering they're white Brits, the UK has caused half the problem here.
That said, your discussions about their management getting sponsorship deals and 'getting money from zionists and donating to palestine' thing reminded me of something else I observed. Like with Jacksepticeye's thankmas stream, when he announced the donations will go to World Central Kitchen, I realised he's talking around the issue a lot, saying stuff like "with all that's happening in the world" and even WCK in the stream talking about war vaguely, and I had made sure to look through their website to check that yes they were indeed sending aid to Palestine. And I understand the logic there from both Sean and WCK that there's a big audience that they're trying to take advantage of, but if you take any strong political positions beyond "charity good, helping war torn regions good" then it might lose you a lot of donations and derail the fundraiser making it harder to get that aid in the first place. I've seen similar things happen with a lot of well meaning people who try to keep their political positions away from the public eye.
Personally of course I'd prefer to see dnp say more about these topics and engage in important stuff like that. But the discussions about the management getting those sponsorships also makes me wonder if purely strategically speaking it helps to keep controversial things out of the public eye to be able to gain the funds to donate in the first place. My main problem here isn't them getting paid by Amazon, it's the fact that they're promoting and giving a platform to that company at all. Idk how far you can negotiate that stuff with your managers but if there's ever a time to put your foot down it's with this.
Nevertheless, I can also see the merits to an approach where you try not to alienate sources of funds which can do more for aiding a cause than paying lip service would have, but at the end of the day it's up to every individual how they navigate this and what they give more importance to, and I can live with the fact that some people walking that line in the public eye can help get funds on a larger scale. It's not what everyone should do, more of us and especially celebrities who have less to lose/have loads more influence like a listers should be speaking up and not mincing our words, but perhaps there's a particular social position where not alienating big sponsors and donors can help that individual do more good in the long term.
~ 🪴
P.s. sorry about the long essay I've been thinking about that particular social dynamic ever since the thankmas charity stream bc again it raised a LOT of money that way
about Amazon i completely agree. promotion does more damage than dnp getting paid by Amazon. they technically can donate that cheque to Palestine, if they want to. but Amazon will still get money from some of the audience, and dnp working with someone like this one sends a confusing message to their audience.
i wish those things weren't labelled as controversial. and, to be clear, i'm not saying dnp should scream about genocide and war every day or every week. that would have the opposite effect. just, you know, simple reminders here and there, verified links to charities and protests/marches.
i don't really have anything to add to your ask. thank you for sharing, a lot to think about! <3

chapter #7 — second chorus
Tumblr media
It turns out that fast-forwarding through the getting to know the close family of your significant other part of dating does wonders for TK and Carlos — or Tarlos, as Marjan has baptized them online. Everything flows more smoothly now that Carlos’ daughter has warmed up to him as a real person and has mostly stopped seeing him as the celebrity she used to fangirl over. Everything is brighter, too, now that Jonah’s approval isn't hanging over TK's head like Damocles' sword.
"The fans adore you," Marjan is saying one morning, two months after they start dating. "It's not a surprise that hashtag tarlos is trending on every single social media platform."
Carlos lifts his gaze from the book he's reading while sitting on TK’s too-white couch. TK loves that by now, he feels enough at ease at the penthouse to let his guard down and take out his readers; he finds Carlos incredibly sexy with those glasses on and his curls unfurled from the gelled perfection with which he usually styles his hair. But these days there are very few moments for sexiness, given that Leyre and Jonah are often with them. Not that TK minds at all.
It's the first time that's ever happened. When he's dated other people — when he was dating Alex — his brother was either never welcome to hang out with them or never comfortable around TK’s boyfriends. With Carlos, Jonah’s presence is almost a requirement in the same way that TK demands that Leyre comes to every single at-home date they share. It's not that he's boycotting his prized intimate time with his boyfriend; TK feels like they're better when they're all together, like he’s getting a glimpse of what their future could be. Despite this relationship being shiny and new, TK would love for it to last for eternity. Which he very much hopes.
When exactly that thought first invaded his mind, TK’s not sure. But it's been there for a while now, and he can't shake it. He can't stop thinking about a future where he gets to spend his time with Jonah and Carlos and Leyre, all tangled together as a family.
"I'm not sure I'm sold on the nickname," Carlos points out, his glasses sliding down his nose adorably. "But whatever. You know better than me."
"You don't even have an Instagram account, Dad," Leyre says from her seat at the table, where she's been doing her homework alongside Jonah. TK smiles softly at the image — it almost feels like a family. Almost since the beginning, or at least as much as his own schedule allows him to, Leyre and Jonah have spent the evenings together, either at Carlos’ apartment or at the penthouse. There’s been a few sleepovers for them to get to know each other better — which have been an excuse for the adults to spend a little more time together as well. And he’s certainly come to love the way Leyre often sasses her dad, just like now. "Of course Marj knows better."
"Marj, huh?"
"That's my girl!" Marjan exclaims, high-fiving Leyre with a smile. "If this keeps up, your chances at the label approving the fundraiser will be even higher."
"I thought that was already approved?" TK questions. He sits up on the couch, causing Carlos' socked feet to flop down on the leather instead of resting on top of TK’s thighs. "Sorry, babe," he quickly apologizes. "Marjan, I thought that was taken care of and the label had approved a fundraiser for the school."
Marjan looks sheepish as she lifts her gaze from the screen of her phone; Paul, who's been working on his laptop in silence the whole time, clears his voice. "The label approved a fundraiser for education," he says. "We already explained to you that it would go to different schools and projects, depending on the artists."
"Each one of the guest artists will choose a project of their liking," Marjan continues, "and the money will be split equally between all of them."
"And I said I had no problem with that," TK says. He pinches the bridge of his nose. "I never expected them to allow me to have a whole fundraiser show for myself. And this way we can help many more people."
"The list of guest artists came through this morning," Paul tells them. "Alex is a requirement from the label."
The silence that falls upon them is deafening. TK can feel everyone's gazes on him as his face grows hotter just from thinking that he’s required to see Alex in person again.
"Leyre," Carlos says in the low voice he reserves for orders which brook no argument. "I bet you're dying to know the latest trick Buttercup has learned."
"I do," Leyre says obediently, standing up and gathering her things. She motions for Jonah, who's sitting at the other end of the table doing his own homework — that Carlos has refused to help him with to avoid being accused of favoritism — and continues, "Jonah, why don't you show me what you taught Buttercup yesterday? In your room?"
"He's literally here," Jonah says in a whiny voice. "Why can't we—"
"There's more space and less people in your room," Leyre insists. TK is amazed at how she's inherited Carlos' sternness. "Please?"
Jonah stands up reluctantly and follows her to his room, Buttercup strutting behind them. Once the kids have cleared the living room, TK looks up from his hands at Carlos and mouths thank you; he wouldn't have wanted this conversation to be held with his brother present.
"Alex is a requirement," he repeats slowly. "Where have the execs been these past few months? Haven't they seen what he did to me?"
"A few higher-ups have pointed out that you seem to have moved on nicely from the whole debacle," Paul sighs. "I can't say they're wrong. They're also saying that Alex’s popularity has decreased by ten whole points since the failed wedding, and they can't have that."
"They can't have a cheater get fewer listeners on his Spotify account?" Carlos questions carefully. He has never stepped into TK’s issues — this is, in fact, the first time Carlos has ever addressed the Alex-issue since the night they first met — but TK can hear the doubt in his voice. "Excuse me, but I don't think I understand."
Marjan goes to check quickly that the kids have the door to the room closed, and comes back swiftly. "Talex were the label’s biggest bet. They thought they'd be forever. Nobody counted on Alex being a bastard, or on his popularity to sink this bad."
"Nobody counted on you getting a rebound so fast," Paul states matter-of-factly. "Their words, not mine, man," he adds, lifting his hands in the air as if apologizing when Carlos shoots him a questioning glance with an arched eyebrow.
"You're not a rebound," TK tries to explain, but Carlos dismisses him with a wave of his hand.
"They're right," Carlos finally says after a few beats. "Either I'm the rebound or you cheated on Alex with me. There's no other explanation for how fast things went down with us. I can endure being the rebound," he continues with a soft smile. "It means I get to be here with you now."
TK chuckles before sobering up. "I don't really want to see Alex ever again," he mutters, hoping that nobody hears him. Carlos' soft nudge lets him know that someone has, indeed, heard.
"You're going to," Paul tells him in a soft voice. "If you want the label to go through with this."
"Marj said that—" TK lets out a frustrated growl. "They're not approving anything unless they get their share of soap opera drama on a stage, aren’t they?"
"Basically," Marjan mumbles.
"Are we required," TK asks slowly, "to sing together?"
"Afraid so," Paul confirms.
TK squirms under Paul's understanding gaze. He doesn't look up; he's not ready to face the pity that he's sure he'll see there. It's true that he's been faring quite better than expected — thanks, mostly, to having met Carlos that fateful night — but that doesn’t mean he’s ready to face Alex once again, not to say that he’s absolutely terrified of singing the song that was supposed to be their wedding theme. He hasn’t talked about how that failed wedding has affected him with anyone, not even Carlos; his boyfriend has a lot on his plate and TK hasn’t wanted to add to the pile of problems that seems to follow Carlos lately regarding his job and the future of the kids at the school.
Carlos reaches out and squeezes TK’s knee affectionately. “It'll be fine," he says when TK finally looks up at him. "You don't have to do it."
"But what about the kids?" TK sighs as he watches Carlos' face fall slightly; he covers it pretty quickly, but it's there long enough for TK to catch a glimpse of Carlos' internal turmoil. "What about you? It's not just about the school Jonah goes to," he continues in an anguished voice. "It's about you, and your future, and Leyre’s and those kids' futures."
"Nothing is more important than your mental health, TK," Carlos tries to explain to him. "You don’t have to do this. I promise. We’ll find a different way to save the school."
TK sighs. He knows there’s more at stake than just his own feelings, but he’s a bit overwhelmed by the situation right now. And Marjan, who’s staring down at him with a determined gleam in her eyes, isn’t helping matters.
“He doesn’t have to do this?” she questions, arching an eyebrow at Carlos. “Do you really think so? Do you know what stepping out of this now would do to TK’s reputation? Do you even care?”
“Marj,” TK starts, trying to warn her off saying something that she might regret.
“Have you ever sung a one-million-dollar hit?” she continues. When Carlos simply looks back at her, agape, she presses on. “I guessed so. Then leave these decisions to the ones who actually know how this industry works.”
TK blinks at Marjan’s words, his brain frozen for a second. She surely hasn’t said what he’s heard — his mind must have made up the words — but Carlos’ paleness as he shakes his head is enough to convince TK that Marjan has, in fact, been as blunt as he’d feared.
“I guess you’re right,” Carlos finally says, after a silence that dragged on for far too long. “I don’t know a thing about this world. It’s not mine, after all.” He begins to stand up. “I think I’ll go—”
“Baby,” TK says, trying to catch Carlos before he’s actually off the couch. “You don’t need to go anywhere. And someone needs to apologize,” he adds, shooting Marjan a glare. She has the decency to look abashed.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean for it to sound like—” she says, but Carlos cuts her off.
“It’s fine,” he tells her. TK frowns at the smile painted on his boyfriend’s face now; he knows Carlos well enough to be sure it’s the polite smile he plasters on whenever he doesn’t feel comfortable in a situation. “I’ve known from the beginning that this isn’t my field of expertise. I should have known where I stand.”
TK watches in enthralled horror as a single tear travels down Carlos' face. His boyfriend doesn't even attempt to wipe it away; he allows it to roll down his skin, leaving a path of sorrow in its wake.
"If you'll excuse me," Carlos continues, his voice as steady as a leaf left to float in the autumn wind. "I think it's time for us to leave. The kids have class tomorrow, after all."
He doesn't wait for confirmation or agreement. Carlos stands up, the absence of his hand leaving a cool patch on TK’s knee, and goes in search of his daughter. For a moment, TK remains in awe that Carlos feels so at ease in the penthouse that he can move around the place as if he owns it. It isn't the first time that TK’s thought that Carlos — and Leyre, of course — should be more of a fixture in his home.
Now's not the moment to bring it up, though. Before TK can even stand up, too busy glaring at Marjan while Paul scolds her in a low voice for her evident lack of tact, Carlos comes back, Leyre in tow. He mumbles a few words that are meant to mark his goodbye; Leyre speaks louder, thanking TK once again as she always does, and then they're by the door grabbing their coats.
TK manages to reach them before they open the front door.
"Baby," he repeats as he approaches them. He deliberately keeps his voice even and low. "You know you don't have to go. I’m sorry. I’ll talk to Marjan. She didn’t mean it like that. And you know this is your world now as well, right? Maybe you don’t know much about how things work yet, but I know you were just looking out for me. And I’m learning all about your world, too. I find it fasci—" He trails off when he realizes that Carlos is only feigning disinterest in whatever TK’s got to say; Carlos’ grip on Leyre’s coat as he helps his daughter is making his knuckles white.
"We need to get going anyway," Carlos says without making eye contact, too busy ensuring that Leyre’s scarf is correctly wrapped around her neck. "We have class first thing in the morning."
"But—"
"See you tomorrow," Carlos cuts him off. This time, he actually looks up from his daughter; TK can see the anguish in his beautiful and warm brown eyes.
"Okay," TK concedes. He's about to say something else when Jonah barrels into the foyer with stomping strides.
"Leyre! You forgot your pencil case!" He waves the item in front of his face, offering it to Leyre. She takes it with a tight smile; TK can tell that she doesn't want to leave, but he knows her enough to know that she won't contradict her father. "Do you really have to go?"
"Yes, they do," TK tells his brother. His hand lands on Jonah's shoulder. "But you'll see Leyre and Carlos tomorrow."
Carlos nods. He opens the front door and motions for Leyre to step out. "Bye, Jonah," he says with a smile so fake that TK’s heart hurts. "See you tomorrow."
“Why don’t you go back to your room and wait for me? I’ll be there in a minute and we can make dinner together.” Jonah purses his lips but obeys, albeit reluctantly. Once he’s retreating through the corridor leading to the room, TK turns back to Carlos and Leyre. "Please, let Judd go with you," he practically begs. He hears the rustle at his back as his bodyguard approaches them. "Please."
"We're fine," Carlos insists, even though TK knows he's anything but. "You need him."
"I promise I won't leave the apartment," TK says. "Carlos, please," he repeats. "Let me at least—"
"Fine," Carlos interrupts. He pinches the bridge of his nose, a clear sign of distress and turmoil. "Judd, could you please appease my boyfriend and come with us? Apparently, my daughter and I can't walk around New York on our own."
Despite the bite in the words, TK smiles. He knows Carlos isn't throwing any real jabs at him; over the past few weeks he’s grown used to the chaotic way of life that TK’s embraced for the past decade.
“I’ll gladly go with you,” Judd says in what TK identifies as his teasing voice. “Can’t have you or your girl getting lost in the big city.”
“I’ve been living here for ten years,” Carlos mumbles as he fixes the zipper of his coat. “I won’t get lost or anything.”
“Call me when you get home?”
“I will,” Carlos concedes. “Otherwise Judd will force me to do so.” He hesitates briefly before leaning in and kissing TK’s forehead.
Judd lets out a hearty laugh while he follows Carlos and Leyre outside, the mood lifting a little as TK closes the door behind them. He goes back to the living room, where Marjan is looking contrite and crestfallen as she sits beside Paul, who’s trying to console her. Since TK’s not wearing any shoes, his steps are silent as he walks and therefore he can watch them interact before they realize he’s spying on them. Paul has one hand around Marjan’s shoulder, the other drawing soft circles up and down Marjan’s arm as he whispers something into her ear. Her hijab has fallen over her shoulder, and Paul keeps brushing it off whenever his fingers reach the tip of the fabric. TK feels as though he’s intruding on a very intimate moment, guilt coursing through his veins as he stands there and watches on while Marjan’s shoulders sag as if she’s crying.
“Marj,” he finally says, opting for taking a few steps back and speaking up from a place where they don’t see him — where they don’t realize he’s been spying on them. He makes some noise as he stomps into the living room, where Paul is now sitting at least two feet away from Marjan. “I know you didn’t—”
“I’m sorry,” she says immediately, sitting up and looking at him with red-rimmed eyes. “I shouldn’t have said it like that.”
“Yeah, you shouldn’t have,” TK agrees.
“I shouldn’t have been so insensitive,” she continues. “Of course he belongs here, you guys are, like, an item now and—”
“Carlos will forgive you,” TK reassures her.
“See?” Paul pipes in, still sitting stiffly besides her. “TK knows Carlos better than we do. If he says he’ll get over it—”
“But he shouldn’t have to get over it!” Marjan exclaims, air quoting her last few words. “I need to apologize. Again. And actually make him listen this time.”
TK shakes his head. “I know you feel like you need to,” he begins, “and that you think it’d be better to do it right away. But I know him, and he would forgive you right away and you’d think he didn’t mean it and—”
“He’s been an absolute sweetheart all this time, and I’ve just messed up so badly—”
“—it’s better if you talk to him tomorrow,” TK finishes, tapping his socked foot on the carpet. “With a clear head, both of you.” He waits a few seconds for his words to sink in; Marjan nods sharply before looking down at her hands. TK sees Paul keeping himself from reaching out to comfort her. “I think it’s time for me to go fetch Jonah for dinner. He’s back in his room, isn’t he?” Not waiting for either of them to reply, TK turns around. “You’re free to stay for dinner, and to spend the night, as always. You both know where everything is,” he adds while he walks back to his room.
He hears the rustle of clothes against the fabric of the couch as Paul, he assumes, resumes his earlier position and whispers fill the air with a constant murmur that follows him all the way to Jonah’s room.
* ~ * ~ *
When Judd insists on driving them home, Carlos doesn’t fight him. He’s too emotionally drained from holding it together in front of everyone — and especially his daughter — that he’s got no more strength in him to tell Judd that they can walk.
“Papi,” Leyre whispers, leaning into him in the backseat of the car. “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine,” he lies through gritted teeth. “I’m just tired.” Which isn’t a lie per se — he is exhausted.
“Why did we have to rush back home?” she continues. “It’s not even seven, other days we’ve stayed until well past nine.”
“That’s a habit I should stop encouraging,” Carlos says categorically. “On a weekday, you should go to bed at a reasonable hour.”
“And I do!” Leyre huffs. “We end up spending the night most of the time, anyway. Why couldn’t we tonight?”
“Because I said we should leave,” Carlos retaliates in a slightly harsher tone than he’d intended. He cringes when he sees Leyre flinching away at his words. He’s never used the because I said so card that his own mother loved to throw at him while growing up, and it pains him more than it probably pains her. “Sorry, Leyre. I’m—”
“—exhausted, I know,” she says with the dramatic sigh she’s picked up from both Nancy and Marjan. “I understand. I’ll see Jonah tomorrow anyway. We have Math Club.” She turns to look out the window, allowing the silence to fall upon them like a warm blanket; it doesn’t feel uncomfortable, but Carlos is restless.
He’s aware that Marjan hadn’t meant to upset him with her words; but she's inadvertently touched on a raw nerve by speaking a truth that Carlos wasn't ready to admit to himself, or anyone else. But it’s there now, plain as day, and he can’t deny it any longer.
He doesn't belong in TK's world, not really, and the sooner he accepts it, the sooner he'll learn his place.
He rests his forehead against the cool glass of the window and closes his eyes. They have quite a ride to their place; he would have hailed a cab, like he usually does whenever he drags himself and Leyre out of TK’s place late at night on the weekends, but he’d be lying if he said he didn’t like Judd driving them back home. Even if home has become a blurred concept.
For the longest time, Carlos had thought home would be wherever his parents were, namely the ranch he grew up on; when he moved out, to a condo in downtown Austin that he had bought fresh off the Academy and that his mother had helped him decorate, Carlos had learned that home could be somewhere else. Then, when Iris left him with Leyre, Carlos learned that home was wherever his daughter would be. Now, Carlos is not so sure that his idea of home doesn’t include a small preteen with sorrowful eyes and a grown-up singer with the ability to read Carlos’ soul like an open book.
Carlos has struggled most of his life to find true love; he hadn't counted on stumbling upon it with TK Strand. That's been one of the surprises life had in store for him, a place — a person — he can call home. And that's also the reason why Marjan's words sting.
Carlos is aware that Marjan couldn’t have really known the pain she could cause with her sassy attitude; he knows it was just an unfortunate comment that rubbed him the wrong way. But he can't help but feeling highly inadequate right now, as though he's been a fool for believing that he, a mere Math teacher, could have a place next to the TK Strand.
As the tears spring back to his eyes, Carlos keeps pinching the bridge of his nose to keep them at bay. He doesn't want his daughter to see him cry; he should always be the strong one out of the two of them, given that he's the adult. There will be time for a breakdown later. Right now, he needs to keep his cool.
His resolve lasts until he's hanging up his mandatory call with TK in front of Judd, who's threatened to snitch on him if he doesn't follow through with TK’s instructions. It's not that there's a lot to tell in the first place, but Carlos noticed the way Judd kept looking back through the rearview mirror, so the bodyguard must at least suspect the emotional state Carlos is in.
With Leyre grumpily back in her room, having refused to have dinner at all, Carlos closes the door once Judd’s left the apartment. And it's then that the tears start falling. He doesn't even make it back to his room; he just collapses on the floor, shaking with silent sobs that shock through his body like electricity. He places a hand over his mouth in an attempt to keep Leyre blissfully unaware of how truly messed up he's feeling. After a few moments of trembling and sagging against the entry door, Carlos finally finds it in himself to get on his unsteady feet and drag himself to his room. He berates himself for being such a weak, emotional mess. He shouldn't cry because someone thought he didn't belong somewhere, even if that somewhere is his boyfriend's side. And yet here he is, memories of his childhood and teenage years replaying in his mind as the pain grows until it's all Carlos can feel. There was a time when he thought that he didn’t deserve happiness because of who he was — the time after coming out to his parents is still a nebula of grief and remorse. He thought he was over that. But apparently, all it takes is a snide comment to crumble the walls he's built around that particular spot of his soul.
With a supreme effort, he crawls into his bed.
His dreams are plagued by nightmares.
Insistent knocking on his bedroom door startles him awake what feels like only minutes after he surrendered to a fitful sleep. He groans, rubbing at his eyes before looking for the source of the noise. He sees Leyre standing in the doorway, since he forgot to close his door the night before, with her arms crossed over her chest.
"Papi," she says in what Carlos knows she believes to be a stern voice. It's mostly adorable. "We have visitors."
"What time is it?" he questions, checking the alarm clock on his bedside table, glaring at him in green digits that scream at him that they’re going to be late if he doesn’t hurry. "Fu—Dammit. I overslept!" he exclaims before his daughter's words sink in. "Who's visiting this early in the morning?"
"Get up and find out," she says sassily before turning on her heels and disappearing down the corridor. Carlos groans again; he's going to kill Nancy and Tommy for being such examples for Leyre, even though secretly he loves that she's growing up to be a strong, independent woman.
That's all Iris would have wanted for her.
He slides out of bed fully knowing that they'll be late for school unless their visit is Nancy demanding some gossip about his relationship with TK that she can't wait for him to share over lunch break with Tommy and Mateo. Groggily, he steps out of his bedroom and almost stumbles over his feet when he sees TK standing in the middle of his living room while Jonah sits on a stool in the kitchen area. Leyre, who Carlos only now realizes is already fully dressed, is pouring milk in a couple of tall glasses.
"Good morning," TK greets with a small smile. "Sorry for ambushing you in your home, but I think we need—I think we need to talk." As if sensing that his words could be misinterpreted, TK quickly amends, "I mean, it's not—not bad, just—"
"You're making it worse," Leyre pipes in. Carlos snorts; Judd is really rubbing off on her too.
"I'm still too asleep for—whatever this is," Carlos yawns. Belatedly, he realizes that what he's said is probably too harsh, but when he tries to fix it, Leyre shoots him a glare. He sheepishly mumbles, "I'm definitely too tired for this."
"I didn't want to just send a message. I thought it’d be better if we talked?" TK explains. Carlos can tell he's measuring his words for the sake of the kids, who don't know what transpired the night before. Carlos suspects Leyre might have an idea, but it's too heavy a burden for a twelve-year-old. "I can wait. We can, uh, walk to school together, if you'd like?"
"I'd love to," Leyre answers. This time, Carlos huffs.
"Leyre, what have I told you about talking when the adults are speaking?"
"You're still half asleep and making no sense," she deadpans.
Carlos stares at her agape, speechless for a second. TK comes to his rescue, chuckling softly and saying, "I thought you were an early bird?"
Carlos curses the fact that TK remembers almost everything he's ever told him. "I am. Today's an exception."
"And we're going to be late," Leyre warns him.
"I have to hop in the shower," Carlos says awkwardly. "I, uh, I don't—"
TK waves his hand in the air. "We'll be here when you get back," he promises. "I'm not going anywhere."
Carlos walks back to their bathroom, jumping in for a quick shower. He can't fathom why TK wants to talk to him — about the night before, presumably — at almost seven in the morning, when it's a conversation that can wait until both of them are completely awake. He thinks about what he's going to say, how he's going to play down what happened about thirteen hours before, as the hot water falls on him. He forgoes washing his hair, as he's already late, even though he knows there will be paparazzi on the street when they step outside of the building; like sharks with blood, the photographers tend to smell when TK is out and about.
Carlos groans as he steps out of the shower, the steam fogging up the mirror. He makes quick work of drying himself off before wrapping a towel around his waist to walk the few steps to his bedroom. There, he picks out the clothes he always wears to work — chinos and a shirt, this time in sand tones combined with dark blue. He knows his clothes are boring, but he can't really wear his tight polo shirts that show off his muscles when he's teaching kids; they’re reserved for the weekends when Nancy convinces him to go clubbing with her and Tommy, while Julius, the twins' favorite uncle, babysits the girls. He checks his phone before finishing buttoning his shirt; they’ll make it just in time, but only if he skips a real breakfast. Maybe he can grab a toast and nibble on it as they walk.
When he gets back to the living room, Leyre’s ready, her backpack in place as she glares at him. Carlos sees Nancy standing close to the door; she must have gotten into the apartment while he was in the shower. Carlos arches his eyebrow questioningly; he thought she'd be spending the night at Mateo's. Both of them think they're being sneaky, but Carlos has noticed how they look at each other and how their dynamic has changed. He won't call Nancy out on it, despite him dying to get back at her for all the nosy comments and questions she's been throwing at him for the whole duration of his relationship with TK — and even before, during the dry spell that lasted five years.
"Here," Nancy says, holding out a travel mug that Carlos has just noticed. "We're going to be late. Take this and get going."
"Hello to you too," he says. "Seems we're all in a grumpy mood." He looks around but he sees no TK nor Jonah. "Where are—"
Nancy huffs. "I sent them downstairs," he says.
"Why would you do that?" Carlos asks, confused.
“We’re going to be late as it is if we don’t hurry, we don’t need your boyfriend distracting you,” she explains pointedly.
"Nancy." He says her name as a warning, but his friend glares at him, matching Leyre’s expression.
"Can I go down too?" his daughter asks. "Jonah wanted to show me this drawing he did of his family. Apparently, we're in it." It comes out nonchalant, but Carlos shivers at the implications.
"Sure. Just make sure not to move away from TK. Or Judd. I guess he's here as well."
He sees his daughter out of the apartment and remains silent for a moment after she's left the door ajar.
"Carlos," Nancy begins, catching his attention. "What's going on? You look like you’ve cried all night and Leyre tells me you left TK’s place in a hurry. Did something happen?"
Carlos sighed, but decided he was too tired to come up with a cover story. "Marjan said something that reminded me of my place in TK's life," he explains, stepping out of his apartment as well, adding, "I thought you wouldn't be home this morning."
"Don't change the subject on me, Mister," Nancy retaliates. "She did what? How on Earth could she say something that made you doubt that?"
Carlos shakes his head. He locks the front door before speaking again. He knows he doesn't have much time; Leyre is barely a few steps ahead of them, and once they reach TK and Jonah, he won't be able to talk to Nancy. "I don’t doubt our feelings, if you think that. But she made a snide comment. Something about me not knowing how it works in their world. I felt like she has implying that I didn't belong there. And I just—I snapped."
"By ‘snapped’, you mean you closed yourself off and fled?"
"You could say that. TK wanted me to stay. And I could tell Marjan was really sorry. But I just couldn't—"
Nancy shakes her head. Carlos sighs; it's really hard for him to voice his fears, the demons that have been following him for so long.
"I don't know Marjan that well," Nancy says carefully. "But it looks like one of those situations where the words sound much better in your head. I'm sure she didn't mean you don't belong there."
"Or maybe she did."
"Then why's TK here right now?"
"I don’t know,” he mumbles. He doesn’t really have an explanation as to why his boyfriend is here after the events of the previous night. “What if she was right, though? What if me being, you know, normal is a dealbreaker?”
"Now that’s just bullshit," Nancy cuts him off. "Dealbreaker? The love you share is strong enough to overcome something as small as different backgrounds in this situation. TK loves you," Nancy keeps going. "Don't give me that look, Carlos Reyes. It's evident to anyone with eyes in their head that he loves you as much as you love him. Don't wait for the other shoe to drop. It's not going to happen."
Carlos sighs. He really doesn't want to talk about this with Nancy, and he definitely doesn't want to share his worst side with TK. He's about to tell his friend as much when they reach the first floor and he can see TK talking to Jonah and Leyre, Judd watching over them from a corner. "It's not that easy."
"I know it isn't, but you have to try. I have a feeling TK’s it for you. I know you feel the same. Just think about it?"
Carlos nods. TK looks up the moment they both get closer to the kids and smiles in a way that warms Carlos' heart.
"Hey," Carlos greets.
"Hey."
"Okay. I'll walk with the kids while you get to be disgustingly sappy together," Nancy announces. "Remember what I told you." And, with that, she lands a hand on Leyre’s and Jonah’s shoulders and guides them outside. Judd waits for Carlos and TK to move before he starts to walk as well.
"So, uh, about last night," Carlos begins when the silence grows so awkward that he can't stand it. "I wanted to say I'm sorry."
"It's me who should be sorry," TK immediately interrupts. "And Marjan is sorry too. She wants to talk to you. I told her she should give you time."
"And yet here you are," Carlos says with no real heat to his words. He keeps rushing through the streets as they talk, in the hopes that they’ll be on time to meet Tommy, Evie, and Izzie at their usual spot.
"I wanted to make sure you're okay," TK explains. He seems to want to say something else, but Tommy and her twins turn the corner and he's interrupted by happy squealing when the girls see their favorite singer-slash-uncle is there. "Are you?" he adds after he's hugged the girls and they've resumed their walking, the school already in plain view. "Fine, I mean—"
"I will be," Carlos promises. "You’re right about telling Marjan to give me some space. Right now I don’t think I—"
"Take your time," TK offers. "Let's talk after work, okay? I have a busy day and this evening I'm volunteering at the shelter."
"The shelter?" Carlos repeats dumbly. He's been dating TK for several weeks, and it's the first time he's heard of him volunteering at any shelter.
"Yeah, the shelter Enzo and I set up when my mom died," TK says slowly. "You must have heard of it. The Gwyn Morgan Shelter for Women in Need. I used to be there all the time, but then life got hectic."
Carlos stops dead in his tracks, unsure of whether or not he's heard correctly. "Gwyn Morgan was your mother?"
"Yeah. You didn't know? When I made it through and became, you know, famous?” TK hesitates. “Everyone had a field day back then, digging up that particular moment of my life and showing it off for everyone to see. I thought it’d been all over the papers. I thought everyone knew.”
"I've never been a fan of mags," Carlos manages to say. His throat feels like sandpaper.
"You sure you're okay? You're really pale all of a sudden."
"Yeah, yeah. I, uh," Carlos gulps. "Text me the address and I'll join you there."
"Carlos—" TK tries, but Carlos cuts him off.
"I'll be late if I don't go in now. See you later." And with that, Carlos escapes into the building, narrowingly avoiding running into Mateo as his friend stands in the middle of the entryway, waving at TK.
Carlos knows there are so many things that he should tell TK about, but he’s just found the one thing he hadn’t been expecting to ever happen to him — the one thing in Carlos’ past that he’s been keeping a secret. And it isn’t even in his past, it’s more about Iris than himself, but it’s something that he’s been trying to come to terms with for the longest time now.
His closest circle of friends are the only ones to know that, when the car hit Iris, she got flung into a woman who died on the spot; they are aware that Carlos has conflicting feelings about it because the police report said that the woman’s death had been caused by the impact. She wouldn’t have died if Iris hadn’t hit her, even if it was a consequence of her own accident. Not even TK knows the fact that Iris had killed a woman during the accident that took her life. And he would never know, now.
Because the woman Iris killed was Gwyneth Morgan.

Cryptocurrency & Associated Platforms: Are They A Dynamic Investment Opportunity For Businesses?
Studying the crypto market closely shows that the crypto influence is not limited to individual investors and tech enthusiasts. Business owners and entrepreneurs are increasingly turning to crypto space for various reasons. This shift in the business landscape is driven by the many advantages that cryptos and their associated trading platforms offer. If you’re looking for an exchange development partner, Futurengage is your one-stop destination. We provide white label crypto exchange development services along with customization options.
Investment Portfolio Diversification - a fundamental & profitable strategy for risk management
Business owners understand the benefits of diversification and invest small or big capital in cryptos. This way, they reduce the risks associated with traditional assets like stocks and bonds.
Cryptos are known for their relatively low correlation with traditional financial markets. This independence can act as a hedge, helping to protect a business's assets during market volatility.
Global Accessibility - every individual worldwide can access cryptos
It’s possible to trade cryptos 24/7, breaking free from the constraints of traditional stock markets with their limited trading hours. This accessibility is particularly advantageous for businesses engaged in international trade or those with a global clientele.
Cross-Border Transactions - quick and borderless transactions
Traditional banking systems often involve hefty fees and lengthy processing times. In contrast, cryptos facilitate near-instantaneous cross-border transactions at a fraction of the cost. This speed and cost-effectiveness make them an attractive option for businesses with international operations.
Enhanced Security - cybersecurity is a paramount concern for businesses
Blockchain, the underlying technology of cryptos, employs advanced cryptographic techniques to secure transactions and prevent unauthorized data alterations. Businesses value this enhanced security and the peace of mind it brings.
Decentralization and Ownership - there’s no control levied by governments or entities
Unlike traditional financial systems, where banks and governments control funds and monetary policies, cryptos operate on decentralized networks. This means users have full ownership and control over their holdings. This level of autonomy aligns with the principles of entrepreneurship and financial independence.
Investments and Liquidity - a plethora of opportunities
Users can invest in multiple altcoins and tokens that cater to specific industries and use cases. The highly liquid crypto market also enables businesses to buy or sell assets quickly without significantly impacting market prices.
Innovative Fundraising Options - new campaigns for initial capital investments
Cryptos have opened up new avenues for fundraising, mainly through Initial Coin Offerings and Security Token Offerings. These allow businesses to raise capital directly from a global pool of investors without the need for traditional venture capital or banking channels.
Smart Contracts - automatically enforce and execute the terms of an agreement
Smart contracts, powered by blockchain, offer businesses a more efficient and secure way to automate various business processes, automate payments, supply chain management, and legal things. They can reduce the need for intermediaries, streamline operations, and minimize disputes.
Customer Preferred Payments
By accepting crypto payments, businesses can cater to consumers' preferences and gain a competitive edge in the market. Furthermore, this payment method offers faster and more cost-effective transaction options, improving the overall customer experience.
Conclusion
Cryptocurrency exchanges have evolved from niche platforms into essential tools for business owners and entrepreneurs. The advantages of diversification, global accessibility, security, and innovative opportunities make cryptocurrencies an attractive addition to investment portfolios. Moreover, the underlying blockchain can transform businesses, from smart contracts to cross-border transactions.

ROI Features that Impact Crypto Exchange Development Cost
Introduction
For many people all over the world, cryptocurrency has become a popular investment option. The growth of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies has created a demand for cryptocurrency exchanges. However, not everyone has the technical expertise or money to launch their own cryptocurrency exchange. This is where white-label cryptocurrency exchanges come into play. Cryptocurrencies are often developed utilizing blockchain technology, which is fully decentralized. The global understanding and use of blockchain-powered digital currencies is increasing. As a result, there is a lot of user traffic for performing crypto trades. This increased demand for cryptocurrency exchanges. Building a  crypto exchange from the ground up can be costly and time-consuming. Because the infrastructure and technology are already in place, the expenses of a white-label solution are greatly reduced.
Margin Trading:
Margin trading is a mechanism that exchanges provide to allow traders to trade larger positions than they can buy with their account funds. The exchange or brokerage adds capital to trading accounts, increasing their purchasing power. Margin trading falls under borrowing and lending when it comes to a cryptocurrency exchange. The customer can trade their cryptocurrency for a loan of a set amount of money using this fantastic feature. Different exchanges have different margin requirements, with some permitting positions worth up to 100 times the total capital in a trading account.
IEO launchpad:
The simplest kind of cryptocurrency fundraising, known as an initial exchange offering, is used to finance cryptocurrency initiatives. It entered the cryptocurrency market as a rival to ICO, which is entirely run by the crypto exchange. Before starting an IEO, you must first analyze your project and examine the current market condition to determine that it is possible. It is critical to understand what the market requires in order to ensure that your currency will fill a market vacuum.
Crypto Derivatives:
The derivatives trading option is a popular and anticipated module in the crypto sector. This feature contains two types: futures contracts and perpetual contracts. The Crypto derivatives function is entirely based on price calculations and graphical projections, which traders use to forecast the fluctuation of the crypto market.
Staking:
Staking is the process of storing any cryptocurrency asset in a wallet. In exchange, the user will be rewarded and paid interest in the form of any cryptocurrency. The exchange administrator will use the staked crypto coin or token as liquidity. On a custom-built crypto exchange, not everyone is there to actively trade their assets and generate active profits. Many people require a stable exchange where they may deposit their crypto assets and receive income. It's akin to receiving interest on money held in a bank. Users can earn a passive income by staking their cryptocurrency. Based on client desire, exchange owners might create unique offers for them and keep them for a long time.
Conclusion:
These are the additional revenue-generating services that several crypto exchanges in the market use. By activating these functionalities on your site, you can generate optional revenue while also reaping remarkable benefits such as a larger user base, and high liquidity.  If you are an entrepreneur or a startup interested in building a Crypto exchange platform , contact an experienced cryptocurrency firm. Fire Bee Techno Services Best Crypto Exchange Development Company. Our exchange platform is inexpensive and highly secure, and client satisfaction is our first focus. Our Exchange software is feature-rich, made-to-order, secure, bug-free, and easy to implement.

10 Steps For Starting A White Label Crypto Exchange In 2023
Tumblr media
Statistics show that there are more than 300 million users of cryptocurrencies worldwide, with the estimated average ownership rate of cryptocurrencies being 3.9%. Additionally, more than 18,000 businesses decide to accept cryptocurrencies in exchange for their goods or services.
Businesses are launching their bitcoin exchange platforms thanks to the growing acceptance of cryptocurrencies, which is considered as a chance to make money.
This step-by-step manual will assist you in getting started if you intend to introduce your white label cryptocurrency exchange software in 2023.
Top 10 Mandatory steps to start a white label crypto exchange platform
1. Consult with a lawyer to make sure all licencing requirements are met
You should get legal counsel to better grasp the regulatory requirements for your new business before putting your plan into action. Every country where the company plans to conduct business will need the appropriate licensing. Since governmental regulations have not kept up with technology, many bitcoin exchanges function with little to no regulation. Other nations, like the US, have laws requiring license money transmitter companies and compliance with SEC and CFTC rules and regulations, among other things, for Bitcoin businesses. Proper legal counsel is necessary.
Exchanges fall within the definition of a currency exchange, thus companies must go by Know Your Customer (KYC) regulations, which are becoming more and more common in order to stop money laundering. For instance, as a result of the Patriot Act, these laws have been in effect in the United States since 2002. Consult a lawyer who is experienced in the field as regulations vary by jurisdiction.
2. Secure Funding For The Project
You should have an estimate of the cost before you start developing white label crypto exchange software. Technology, hosting, some preliminary legal advice, government registration, and first advertising are all included in the development cost. Even while not all assets are required right away, it's crucial that the company has access to enough capital to provide itself a reasonable runway. Most startups make the error of neglecting to plan ahead, which leads to a meager initial fundraising effort that may cover development costs but leaves the company without the crucial cash needed for operations until it turns a profit.
Startups commonly make the error of securing approval from dishonest cryptocurrency exchange providers that demand recurring fees while concealing the legal obligations and expenses related to establishing and maintaining an exchange.
3. Discover A Crypto White Label Exchange Solution Provider
A top-notch cryptocurrency white label exchange is provided by Clarisco Solutions for a one-time licensing fee that does not contain any royalties or payment terms. This suggests that there are no ongoing fees, that users may host the exchange themselves, and that users obtain the complete source code, which is essential for auditing because certain authorities require that the source code be examined. Clarisco is constantly looking for new ways to provide value for its clients and has years of expertise developing stock exchanges, including the backend technology used by some of the top exchanges in the world.
What use does white labeling with source code serve? White label exchange software with complete source code provides complete customisation of a custom-built exchange while significantly lowering time to market and development cost.
4. Join Other Exchanges For More Liquidity
Every successful exchange is built on liquidity. If your new business lacks an order book and trade activity, potential customers will doubt it. We may link your exchange to a network of active exchanges, increasing its liquidity, to prevent these difficulties and the requirement to simulate activity using dummy accounts inside the new exchange. A wider network of exchanges means less liquidity for your new exchange, so keep that in mind.
5. Work with an online payment processor
Not all payment processors are created equal. Among other things, fee schedules will vary widely amongst firms. You need to have the lowest transaction rate possible to compete with other exchanges. Additionally, you should make sure you read the deal you're signing because some processors add unstated fees in their agreements. Settlement time and PCI DSS compliance, which is a set of best practices for protecting cyber security, are two more differences amongst processors. It is essential to remember that while many state laws in the US require compliance, federal law does not. Make sure your payment processor complies with PCI standards to safeguard your brand-new company from cyber threats. This is just one more example of how important it is to know the intricacies of industrial regulation.
6. Use best security practises
A popular target for hacking and criminality now is cryptocurrencies. As a result, it's crucial that you strengthen your exchange with the appropriate security measures.
Due to its offline cold storage wallets, two factor authentication, and encrypted databases, Clarisco Solutions' white label crypto trading platform is among the most secure in the world. Clarisco Solutions does not keep passwords; only hashes are kept.
7. Go live with beta Version
Your exchange has been created. You've agreed to a contract with a business that handles payments. And you've taken great care to make sure your transaction complies with all laws and guidelines. You've made sure that cybercriminals won't harm your company. Now is the moment to launch your exchange and begin beta testing all of its features.
8. Start your marketing and PR campaign
Connecting with crypto news outlets like Coindesk is necessary after your exchange has gone live. In order to prevent having to look for further funding after your first rise, it is crucial to organize your marketing campaigns and their associated costs appropriately. Frequently, exchanges rely on free social media marketing to attract a critical mass of traders in the absence of a marketing budget.
9. Providing Customer Support
The final phase in building a successful cryptocurrency exchange is customer service, but how well you do in this area will determine your long-term success. Customers must be paid attention to, and any issues with the technology must be effectively resolved. Customers should be addressed as quickly as possible, so think about setting up a ticketing system like ZenDesk and staffing it with knowledgeable and friendly individuals who are available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, as cryptocurrency trading never ends.
10. Keep a Legal Team For Ongoing Compliance
The importance of maintaining legal compliance and abiding by all existing and proposed laws and regulations, not only in the country where your exchange is based but also in all other countries where your exchange's members or traders will live or conduct business, cannot be overstated. To ensure that your exchange is legal in any country where you plan to do business, you must either hire a full-time in-house legal compliance team or outsource to reputable law firms because cryptocurrency regulations are constantly changing throughout the world.
With features like a multi-currency wallet, a strong matching engine, the capacity to process up to 100,000 transactions per second, institutional-grade security, and an intuitive user interface, Clarisco Solutions white label cryptocurrency exchange software offers a seamless trading experience.

How to Maximize ROI by Investing in LMS for Association?
How to Maximize ROI by Investing in LMS for Association? Associations are shaped to help a particular gathering of people or experts in accomplishing a typical expert objective. The organization’s goal is to improve society, but they can’t make a lot of money because they don’t have enough time or opportunities. For associations in all industries, membership, event registration, and fundraising are the most important sources of revenue. However, by incorporating social and collaborative learning training, associations can transcend conventional revenue-generating models.
Managing content and products with a learning management system (LMS) is one effective way to generate revenue. The association will be able to generate non-dues revenue while providing members, partners, vendors, and non-members with continuing education through the use of an LMS.
9 ways to use an LMS to get the most out of your association’s return on investment
Aside from fundraising and membership fees, an association can make money in a variety of ways. We’ll talk about a few of the most common uses that could help your company reach its revenue goals.
Use LMS for Associations to conduct online training.
You can incorporate live event material into your online learning platform. By archiving content from in-person events, why waste valuable content, professional speakers, networking opportunities, and social presence?
the organization’s repository. If you make the event content online through your LMS for associations, members who join your association after these in-person events can access it for free. Additionally, repurpose existing content (webcasts, short videos, and on-demand learning courses) and involve sponsors in your online sessions to maximize ROI sources.
Make sure the association you choose has an LMS that is dynamic, adaptable, and easy to use, even for employees who don’t know much about technology. The LMS must support both online and offline learning, as well as chats, forums, discussions, questions and answers, comments, polls, and contact between instructors and students.
Non-Dues Revenue from eLearning
Using digital learning experiences to grow your business is a popular idea. It’s a go-to source for news about the industry and training around the world. Your members stand to gain from such an investment, which includes maximizing the return on investment from long-term memberships and promoting your brand through online and on-demand learning.
Associations can maximize their return on investment (ROI) by using an LMS in addition to making money from fundraisers and standard membership fees. You can offer training and courses, on-demand course materials, goods, and discount coupons, sublicense a white-labeled learning management system to partners and affiliates, and create branded mobile apps with your branding for non-dues revenue by utilizing the built-in e-commerce module.
Integration with AMS and event management systems The innovativeness of your LMS
Determines how successful your association is at maximizing ROI. It would be simple to exchange data between your LMS and the third-party app by utilizing a SaaS-based learning management system that has integration capabilities with popular third-party tools like CRMs, HRMS, and AMSs. Your company will save time and eliminate data duplication caused by human error by automating manual processes that reduce team activities. Every minute worked off saves money, and every dollar saved cuts costs that aren’t necessary.
Additionally, the out-of-the-box connectivity of LMS for Association with Salesforce enables organizations to map, track, and preserve all learning activities within the Salesforce ecosystem, enhancing the learning experience for students. Single Sign-On (SSO) provides secure two-way access to the LMS through Salesforce integration as well.
Streamlined content creation and continuing education
Promoting ongoing education for partners, members, and non-members via an LMS help associations build relationships over time. Non-members are encouraged to register or purchase a membership to receive personalized member-only content featuring discounts, special offers, and staff members based on their roles. The number of members enrolled in classes and the revenue from registration and membership fees rise as a result, maximizing return on investment.
To increase learner engagement, all information is presented in a gamified interactive environment. Social learning and collaborative learning are possible through chats, discussion forums, text messaging, surveys, polls, and other contact forms between members and instructors.
Utilize an online assessment for in-house or corporate certifications
When members and non-members complete a course or training program, a sophisticated learning management system (LMS) for associations that supports AI-proctored evaluations can award certificates and accreditations. If you kept the cost of this accreditation or certification evaluation low, you would make more money for your business and get the most out of your return on investment. Through your association’s LMS for businesses like Salesforce, Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, and SailPoint, offering AI-proctoring for certification tests as a service could help your business make more money. They will have a secure and cheat-proof remote exam.
Organize live webinars, conferences, events,
You can use the LMS for the association to fundraisers, and exhibitions, as well as live training sessions led by industry or technology experts. Through the LMS, attendees would be able to pay for access and on-demand viewing. By allowing sponsors to advertise and solicit donations throughout the programs, you can also maximize ROI.
We hope this makes it clear how an LMS for associations can help increase revenue and maximize return on investment (ROI) from a variety of sources. If you want to learn more about association LMS and how it can easily help you maximize your ROI, Bytecasting LMS is a great place to start. Click to Read more

4 Interesting Education Crowdfunding Campaigns
There are many interesting education crowdfunding campaigns out there. Those in the field of education need our support as education is historically underfunded and underappreciated. These campaigns are bringing new technologies and interactive books to classrooms. For example, LeVar Burton is trying to bring an unlimited library of Reading Rainbow interactive books and video field trips to the classroom.
Hubbub
If you're a student looking to fund a school project, you may be interested in learning how to launch a Hubbub Education Crowdfunding campaign. This online platform is designed to help university students raise funds for projects that will improve their education. It has already partnered with a third of UK universities to create campaigns for students. It also works with community fundraisers and researchers to help make these campaigns more successful. By making it easier for people to donate to a cause, it helps to increase donor engagement.
Students and university staff can create a Hubbub campaign to ask for financial help for education-related expenses. Students and university staff can use Hubbub to collect funds from donors through social media sites. The funds raised by Hubbub campaigns are released only if the campaign's goal is reached. In order to reach that goal, campaigns must decide on rewards for each giving level.
Experiment
An Experiment with education crowdfunding campaigns has found that many backers are willing to contribute money to help support educational programs that are not currently available through traditional funding mechanisms. The majority of these backers are connected to academic institutions. Among them, 30 percent are undergraduate students and 25 percent are doctoral students. Additionally, seven percent are postdoctoral scholars. In addition, approximately twelve percent are full or assistant professors.
The success of crowdfunding campaigns is dependent on how creative the rewards are. For example, an education crowdfunding campaign that raises funds to purchase textbooks may not be able to meet its budget target unless it offers a unique reward. Creative rewards, such as photographs of animals being studied or a visit to the research lab, may make a campaign more likely to succeed. It's not known whether this is due to the creativity of the idea, or because the project is more interesting than usual.
Pozible
Pozible is an Australian crowdfunding website that focuses on creative community projects, including school fundraising. Its founders started the website to help a friend fund an art project, but it soon grew into an amazing place for individual fundraisers and schools. Its user-friendly platform is easy to navigate, and its goal is to help individual fundraisers succeed.
Pozible allows creators to set a target amount for their campaigns and rewards donors can choose from physical items and experiences. The platform's project editor is a one-stop-shop for running and managing campaigns. It lets you edit your project and message supporters, as well as monitor your campaign's analytics.
Thrinacia
Thrinacia is a software project that will be open source and customizable. It will have a huge range of features, including social engagement functionality and a central repository for plugins. It will also be free to use commercially. It will help educators and students find the best possible courses in their area.
The platform is white labeled, with the source code fully released under the GNU GPL. It's also 100% exportable, so you can work with data however you like. For example, you can export client lists and campaigns. You can also integrate the platform with your own website or domain.
