Sandstorm Is Tigerstar's Daughter AU
Tumblr media
So, to preface this
a lot of changes had to be made to canon
but in the end it came to a result that made me happy
and to add - this isn't super long
I don't even span the full first arc
Self edit before this is even posted; I got carried away and this is longer than I expected
this was a fun idea and [admittedly] I almost ignored it - cause I was worried I would have no ideas - until a bunch of cool ideas hit me at once and then I got excited about it
There's also changes to some relationships for very obvious reasons!
Sandkit is born alongside her brothers Swiftkit and Lynxkit [who are not Patchpelt's kits. You cannot convince me they're Patchpelt's. I have a lot of negative emotions towards the retconned family relationships in Warriors]. They are born about six moons before Rusty / Firepaw joins, meaning Swift and Lynx are older than they are in canon.
Sandkit is very proud of her heritage, as is her brothers and the three are close. Lynxkit is the most level-headed as his brother and sister can be stubborn and hot-headed.
When they're apprenticed, Tigerclaw goes out of his way to have his kits apprenticed to cats he considers his friends by convincing Bluestar and Redtail that it's a good idea. Sandpaw goes to Whitestorm, Swiftpaw goes to Longtail, and Lynxpaw goes to Darkstripe.
When Firepaw joins ThunderClan, Tigerclaw is quick to make sure his kits do not like and do not trust this kittypet and allows them to openly antagonize Firepaw. This gets so bad that apprentices den is split into two factions; the group who likes Firepaw; Firepaw, Graypaw, and Ravenpaw and the group who wants him gone; Sandpaw, Swiftpaw, Dustpaw, and Lynxpaw.
However, after their first patrol together, Lynxpaw is the first to change his mind about Firepaw. He becomes more welcoming, but expresses to Firepaw in private that he doesn't want his siblings to turn against him. Firepaw and Lynxpaw bond quietly behind Sandpaw and Swiftpaw's backs.
Sandpaw sticks close to her father or her mentor most days and as Bluestar's mental health starts to slowly decline, Tigerclaw is planting the seeds of disloyalty into her head. This only gets worse when she learns that Lynxpaw and Firepaw are friends and she lashes out at her brother
Swiftpaw is still on Sandpaw's side, however, and refuses to budge, though he's unsure about being angry at their brother.
When Fireheart and Graystripe become warriors, Sandpaw is even more outraged and - with some prompting from her father - starts making plans to make Fireheart's life just a little worse every day
Sandpaw sticks with Tigerclaw and it's thank to him that Bluestar finally gives her and her brothers their warrior names while Fireheart and Graystripe are out saving WindClan; Sandstorm, Swiftfang, and Lynxclaw.
When Tigerclaw tries to clear Bluestar on the Thunderpath, Sandstorm does manage to stop Cinderpaw from going as she knows the apprentice isn't the target.
After Bluestar fails to show, however, Sandstorm and Tigerclaw start up a different plan. Sandstorm openly blames Fireheart for the fact she didn't show, despite her being sick with greencough.
They do try to drag Swiftfang into their plans, but he expresses concern. He only agrees after Sandstorm peerpressures him into it, but it's clear that he believe they're going too far.
When Bramblekit and Tawnykit are born, Sandstorm becomes like a guardian older sister who spends time with them. This has her thinking of starting a family, but she wants to wait until she finds a proper mate - she is considering Dustpelt - and when her father is finally Tigerstar
Swiftfang does eventually tattle on them before the rogues attack and turns Sandstorm and Tigerclaw in as traitors, as he finds himself unable to just sit back and let them kill Bluestar and Fireheart, especially as he believes Lynxclaw loves the former kittypet.
Sandstorm is outraged as she and her father are exiled from the Clan. She tries to get Dustpelt to join, and for a moment she thinks he will until he reveals he'll never be able to stand beside someone who willingly walked with Redtail's killer.
After joining ShadowClan, Sandstorm assists her father in working hard, though she dislikes ShadowClan's territory. She starts considering having kits, not for a family, but for strong warriors that are loyal to her and her father.
When he becomes Tigerstar, he makes Blackfoot his deputy and Sandstorm is irritated but decides that gives her time to work out her own plan.
She starts carefully deciding which cat is the strongest in ShadowClan and, after being rejected by Blackfoot, settles on Boulder to sire her kits.
While she's courting Boulder, she learns of BloodClan and tells Tigerstar. The three go and meet Scourge and her plans change as she starts talking with Bone.
She's early into expecting Bone's kits when Scourge kills Tigerstar and she lashes out at the BloodClan cats. She isn't killed and ShadowClan ends up exiling her after she refuses to renounce her father's crimes.
When Scourge and Bone are killed, Sandstorm sneaks into the ranks and quickly earns favor with BloodClan as they know who she is and she reveals that the kits she's close to having are the proper heirs of BloodClan.
Cats try to challenge her, but Sandstorm allows herself to be brutal and relentless, which soon catches the eye of a certain one-eyed molly.
Fury becomes co-leader as she teaches Sandstorm the shaky customs of BloodClan and the two become close by the time the kits are born.
There are four kits born to Sandstorm; a dark calico tabby she-cat named Omen, a pale ginger and white tom named Talon, a mostly black tom named Bane, and a dark tabby with white patches named Tiger
Sandstorm instantly favors Tiger more than any other of her kits and is determined that he'll take over BloodClan when the time comes.
As the kits grow older, Fury and Sandstorm grow closer and eventually the two becomes mates and work together to help BloodClan grow better and stronger.
Sandstorm starts spying on the Clans again and learns, angrily, that Firestar and Lynxclaw are mates now and that the two have had a litter of kits together; Squrrielkit, Leafkit, and Spottedkit [Squirrel is dark ginger, Leaf and Spotted are both tortoiseshells] [how is also up for interpretation]
Sandstorm starts making plans again to take down ThunderClan and Fury is more than happy to help.
This comes together in an idea to steal the kits and hold them hostage until Firestar comes to get them.
The first attempt doesn't go well and many BloodClan cats are wounded in trying, but that doesn't stop either leader and they try once more. This time they manage to steal two of the kits; Squirrelkit and her brother Spottedkit.
While watching the two kits, Sandstorm is overtaken by rage at her brother becoming mates with 'the enemy' and for a brief moment she actually considers killing one of the kits. She actually almost kills Squirrelkit before she is stopped by Bane [he and the others being the age of older apprentices].
Bane becomes the watcher of the kits and he bonds well with his cousins and feels pity for them. When he learns his mothers' plans, he convinces Omen to help him carry them back home before any needless death happens. Omen is hesitant at first, but agrees and the two carry the kits back to ThunderClan.
When she learns about this, Sandstorm is outraged and she considers a regular punishment until Fury insists that Bane needs to be made an example of.
Sandstorm allows Fury to publicly kill their son and Omen feels like she's the only one truly horrified at this. Talon seems openly interested in the violence and Tiger was never easy for her to understand, as they are rather withdrawn and never talked to her or their brothers as they were being trained to take over BloodClan.
Sandstorm goes on to not allow Omen to be alone and Omen has a guard with her at all times.
Eventually Omen escapes her guard and flees to the Clans, being taken in by ThunderClan, who promise to protect her.
There she meets her cousins again, plus Leafkit, and gets to know her uncles, Lynxclaw and Brambleheart. She is treated with love and welcoming for the first time in her life and she finds herself about to cry.
She chooses to join ThunderClan after a moon of thought as well, as she fears what will happen if she ever encounters her mothers again. She is given the name Lightpaw.
Eventually Sandstorm does attack again and Lightpaw tries to hide, only to be found by her brother Talon and attacked. He almost kills her only to be killed by Firestar.
This outrages Sandstorm even more.
She attacks Firestar and takes away one of his lives, but before she can do more harm, she is attacked by Lightpaw.
Lightpaw fights her mother off and Sandstorm swears that she'll have her revenge and that ThunderClan will never be forgiven
Lightpaw tries to reason with her sibling, Tiger, but they push her away and lash out, angry that she let their brother die She tries to reason more, but it's useless
She watches as they leave
.
BloodClan does return in the form of Tiger, eventually, but my brain didn't plan that far, but Sandstorm eventually does pass away and Tiger kills Fury in a silent retaliation against her as they never forgive her for killing Bane.
She and Fury do also end up with another litter; a ginger tabby she-cat named Wrath, and an albino tom named Wisp.
Lightpaw eventually earns the name Lightstep and she's the one chosen to represent ThunderClan in the Great Journey.
Spottedkit/paw ends up being killed by BloodClan in a random, aggravated attack and Squirrelflight almost dies in the same attack, but survives, unlike her brother
Squirrelflight eventually becomes mates with Shrewpaw/heart, who survives in this AU and they have a very happy and healthy relationship
Lightstep originally is crushing on Feathertail, but she passes away. Later she actually becomes mates with Daisy and the two are very happy and comfortable wives to help take care of kits who need help raising.
Swiftfang leaves ThunderClan and ends up joining WindClan to get away from all the drama involving his family. He never takes a mate or has kits and he's perfectly happy just living a nice life.

VII: Neutral Route (Y/N)
Where Futures Begin
Life used to be simple for you. Peaceful. But the Savior had other plans for you, and in moments, she ruined what you thought was your one shot at happiness. Blinded by anger, you escaped the Mint Eye, but that triggered a series of events that would bring you further into the world of brothers Saeran and Saeyoung. And further into the twisted world of your love for them.

MASTERLIST
One would think that a person working in the Security Room would know precisely how to infiltrate its alarms and defenses.
You cursed at yourself, wondering why you hadn't thought to create some kind of back door that you could activate, like a god mode that would give you full control over the Mint Eye. Such a thing was definitely possible, yet in your emotional rush to never see Saeran again, you hadn't thought of your plan going awry as it had.
Even if Seven and Mary hadn't been here, my escape still would have been impossible, you thought to yourself, aggravated that you hadn't realized earlier that six stories was not a jumpable distance.
Close...so close, you thought to yourself, fingers flying across Seven's keyboard like birds landing on a cold lake. You were able to find the timer, just not a method to lengthen or pause it. Shit, shit, shit, they have less than a minute left.
You held back tears and worked faster, not even sure of what commands you were inputting but desperately aware that you were trying something.
10...
You tried to run your code, desperately hoping that it would be able to exploit the one weakness you knew existed in the Mint Eye's software security.
8...
There was an error in the code. Your eyes scanned the text, looking to see if you had missed a semicolon or to close a parenthesis.
5...
You began to pray that you had made a mistake writing the original program, that when the timer ran out, no alarm would ring, that some god above would magically whisk you out of the situation you were in.
2...
You stared at the screen helplessly, out of options, out of ideas.
1.
Timer complete.
The alarms began blaring at an agonizing volume, temporarily impeding your ability to think.
You heard the Savior speak over the loudspeakers, her prerecorded voice calm as she instructed believers and disciples alike to please remain calm and to not leave their respective rooms, and that no, this was not a drill.
You let out an angry cry of frustration, irritated at your shortcomings.
When you got out of this, you'd make sure you were a better hacker, that you could break your way into any system well within the time limit. When you escaped, you were going to...
When I escape? You thought to yourself, scoffing. How the hell am I going to escape now?
There was nothing you could do anymore. Nothing.
Except...
It was a stupid idea, but it was the best idea you had. Better yet, you were already in the system, so you knew exactly how to execute the command.
You glanced down at Seven's computer and saw a small speaker built into the bottom. The audio would be poor, but it would work.
You fiddled with the keyboard for a few moments longer, trying to ignore the blaring alarms that were making this entire process more aggravating. Then, after a moment of hesitation, you hit the record button.
"Believers and disciples of the Mint Eye, this is council member (Y/N) with an urgent message," You said, keenly aware of how you sounded as your voice echoed back to you through the loudspeaker where the Savior's voice had once played.
"There are two intruders in the Mint Eye, dressed in full-black attire. They likely have stolen robes and are dressed as believers, among yourselves. They were last seen heading from the dining hall to the Savior's chambers. Their intentions are to kidnap our Savior and destroy the magenta we have worked hard to build."
You took a breath, trying to figure out what to say to best rile up the believers, "If you are in an open-access hallway, please head for the first floor and prepare to apprehend the fugitives. Thank you. The alarm will continue until the intruders have been captured."
You closed the program, and let out a shaky sigh, petrified for the sake of Seven and Mary.
Your lies should be enough to rid them of all the stranglers wandering around on the sixth floor; no believer would waste an opportunity to protect their precious Savior. Everyone would be rushing down to the first floor...and by confessing that the two had 'likely' stolen believers' robes, the believers would drive themselves mad with suspicion.
It wouldn't be long before the believers on the sixth floor overrode the locks on the doors themselves.
You closed your eyes and hoped that Seven and Mary would be smart enough to wait until then.
And, strangely enough, you found yourself wishing for Saeran.
Saeran...
He would know that been scheming to escape.
If you hadn't made that announcement, he might have thought that the infiltrators kidnapped you or something, that you hadn't willingly left after promising him you wouldn't.
Then again, those promises were made eons ago, when he was a different person.
A kinder person.
A more loving person.
Saeran thought you had a cold. He'd noticed that your nose had been red and that you'd been sniffling all day, but not for a moment did he consider that you might have been crying.
"Come on, princess, you have to drink soup if you want to feel better," Saeran murmured, pressing the spoon against your closed lips.
"Soup isn't what will make me feel better," You grumbled, grudgingly accepting the hot liquid.
"Hmm? This is what the Savior did for me when I was sick, though, and it helped," Saeran said, scooping up another spoon of soup.
You shook your head. "Saeran, I'm not sick."
The white-haired boy didn't respond, thinking you were lying or that you didn't like the taste of the soup he was feeding you. He pushed your head back down into the pillow you were resting on and dabbed a napkin at the corner of your lip where he had poured a bit too much soup in too little time.
"Saeran, I mean it."
The boy hummed in response, pushing another spoonful of soup to your lips.
"Saera-mmf!"
The stubborn albino shoved the spoon into your mouth mid-sentence, impressively devoted to forcing you to finish the liquid.
"Saeran, I wasn't sniffling earlier," You rolled your eyes and brought a hand up to his, pushing his spoon away from you, "I was crying, okay?"
Finally, Saeran stopped and put the soup down on the floor, and then he was on your bed, pulling you into his lap as he showered you with "Why?" and "What's wrong?" He turned your face toward his so that you couldn't look away and stroked your hair, confused at how you could have been crying when you seemed so happy.
"It's just..." You felt your throat blocking up as you remembered the dark thoughts that had caused you to cry in the first place, "This can't last, can it?"
Saeran cocked his head to the side, as he always did.
"What can't? The soup?"
You let out a light giggle, Saeran's antics never failing to make you smile. "This. Us. The Mint Eye. Being happy."
Saeran sighed when he realized what you were asking.
Too long, you had been miserable. Abused as a child and then brought to an orphanage that you never felt safe in. Life had been nothing but a series of curveballs where happiness was like a home run: brief and rare.
"No," He whispered, stroking your hair, "You and I are forever. We'll always be happy together. For as long as we're in the Mint Eye."
You smiled sadly. Happiness never lasted. You knew that.
But Saeran believed. He was relentless. He spent that whole night convincing you of what a fantastic place the Mint Eye was, and how as long as you and he stayed there, the magenta would keep you happy forever.
That was the first night you two spent together.
It was, without a doubt, one of the happiest nights of your life, and you didn't cry again for a long time afterward.
The second night you two spent together was half a month ago, restless and foreboding as whatever friendship you two shared was crushed later that very day.
Happiness is forever, eh, Saeran? You scoffed. Happiness is a lie. The only variable is how long you can keep lying to yourself.
You stared at the door in front of you, shutting the laptop Seven gave you.
You'd done everything you could from where you stood. Everything else was up to him and Mary. And MC, you added as an afterthought. Because to you, that's all she was. An afterthought.
You began counting the seconds as they passed by.
It wound up being three-hundred and eighty-four seconds before you stopped.
Footsteps outside the door, you realized. Multiple pairs. They were trying to be quiet, but after being abused as a child, your ears had grown used to listening for any indication of something headed your way. Especially if that 'something' could cause you pain.
You slowly shifted to a standing position so that, whoever came in, be it a disciple or Saeran or the Savior herself, you wouldn't go down without a fight.
But the amount of relief you felt at seeing the familiar blob of red as the cautiously opened the door was unlike any comfort you'd ever felt before. At that moment, you could have hugged Seven as he glared daggers at you in a familiar way that you couldn't quite place.
"(Y/N), is it?" Mary asked, looking you up and down, "Good work on the announcement. The believers were in chaos, suspecting each other and practically rioting over getting out of the room we wound up locked in."
You nodded your head, not quite expecting the compliment, and handed Seven's laptop over to him.
He didn't bother acknowledging you and simply set to dropping a ladder down from the window. "We'll go down the ladder in order of importance." He looped one end of the rope around the windowsill, and you winced; it didn't look very stable. "First MC, then me," he looped the other side of the rope ladder around his knot and took a step back, "Then the maid, then you."
You ignored his blatant insult, that you were the least important of the group, and nodded your head. MC was hesitant about traveling down the rope ladder, asking Seven a million questions about what you were doing there and why she had to go first when the rope ladder looked so unsteady. After Mary threatened to push her out of the window, though, she complied and began climbing down.
When it got to your turn to climb down, you tried not to think about the fact that if Mary looked up, he'd see that under your robe you were still wearing your magenta dress which, when looked at from the bottom, gave him a too-perfect view of your underwear.
Still, you didn't want to be like MC, so you didn't complain.
The climb was treacherously long, your heart beating a mile a minute with every step you took. As soon as MC hit the bottom, she began calling for the rest of you to hurry up, her shrill voice disturbingly loud in the quiet night.
You, Mary, and Seven all knew that if she kept yelling, someone would hear.
"Shut up!" Seven hissed, trying to keep his voice low. "You're going to get us caught!"
"Me? I'm not the one going at the speed of a snail! You need to-"
The rest of her voice was muffled when you heard Seven drop from the ladder and start berating her for compromising the mission. Amused, you glanced downward to observe the spectacle and only then realized just how high up you were.
Mary motioned to do the same, his sharp jerk downward shaking the ladder.
With the sudden dizziness you felt at realizing how high you were coupled by Mary's jerk of the ladder, you felt your fingers lose their grip. In your haste to rework your fingers onto the ladder, you barely noticed your feet slipping off their base, and without even realizing what was happening, you found yourself falling.
Mary tried to grip your wrist, but he was too late, his fingers holding you by your arm for a millisecond before gravity pulled you down onto the hard, unforgiving ground.

Day 4
♡♡♡♡
One for sorrow,
Two for joy,
Three for a girl,
Four for a boy,
Five for silver,
Six for gold,
Seven for a secret,
Never to be told.
Touko watched as Natsume barreled down the staircase. She had tried to wake him earlier, but he seemed completely out of it. Exhausted. She didn’t have the heart to try waking him again. Instead she had allowed him the extra minutes of sleep.
He ran into the kitchen, and greeted both her and Shigeru. He practically shovelled breakfast into his mouth. Shigeru lowered his morning papers to stare at the sight. Touko giggled. As Natsume caught himself, his cheeks flushed in embarrassment as he tried to apologise. But Touko waved it off. Every time he acted freely, and more open around them, her heart elated. They were a family after all.
When he was done he sprung up from the table as if remembering he was in a rush. He called out to them that he would be back, and they wished him safety on the way out, Touko’s giggles following him out the door. When the door closed again, the married couple looked at each other. A somber look taking over Touko’s face.
“He’ll be back.” Shigeru spoke, putting his focus back to the news in front of him. But even his fingers held the pages a little tighter.
Touko gathered up the dishes to wash at the sink. Through the window, she saw her raven friend hopping along a tree branch.
“Are you two together today as well?”
When Touko was a child, her mother would tell her all sorts of stories. The one that stuck with her the most, was the one about the ravens.
“Touko-chan. Have you ever heard the story about the ravens?”
A young Touko looked up at her mother, eyes shining in wonder as well as confusion.”
“No I haven’t. Oh, but sometimes, I hear that people call ravens bad.”
Her mother chuckled. “That’s very common isn’t it. Raven’s are said to bring bad luck and misfortune.” Touko’s eyes widened. A bit frightened over the news. She would hear the calls of the ravens in the distance when she was out with her mother. Sometimes, she saw them too. She didn’t want bad things to happen.
“But there are so many of them! How can we keep the bad things away?”
Her mother chuckled once more. “Well, there is more to the story, dear. Not many people know, but ravens don’t only bring bad luck.” Touko was now fully drawn in. “When the number of raven increase, they can bring many things. Even wonderful things. Let me tell you a poem...”
Her mother probably had not expected Touko to take the story so seriously, but as she grew, she could not help it.
“One for sorrow,
Two for joy,”
Shigeru looked up at his wife.
“Oh, sorry. I just can’t help but think about it. I must sound silly.”
Shigeru had once mentioned to his wife that the raven outside their window cawing at her and allowing her to rescue her clothes outside before they were soaking wet from the rain was pure coincidence. Maybe it was. But he couldn’t be so sure anymore. Not after she had told him about a special conversation she had had with Natsume.
“Shigeru-san.” She had called in that sweet excited voice of hers. “My raven friend isn’t lonely after all.”
From then he had heard the entire story. About her concern for her raven friend being alone. When Natsume had returned one day, Touko had pointed out the raven to him. Proudly proclaiming that they were friends. Natsume, who Shigeru considered as sweet and innocent as Touko sometimes, simply went along with it. Touko had said he had looked so happy seeing the raven. And that he had found its partner. A beautiful raven covered in white feathers. He had said it was his first time seeing an albino raven. The way he had looked, and described it, Touko wished that she could see it too. She didn’t. But from the bottom of her heart, she knew that Natsume did. Touko had recounted the poem of ravens to Shigeru. That for Natsume, maybe there was always an extra raven that others could not see. And that maybe it didn’t stop with birds.
Shigeru had tried to brush it off at first. Explain it away. But the more they saw Natsume show up at home covered in unexplained bruises, the harder it got to ignore. Suddenly both Touko and Shigeru had instances in their past to recount, and realise beyond a doubt that Natsume was even more special than they had initially thought.
Shigeru had wanted to talk to Natsume, at first believing that he was being bullied by schoolmates or people around town. He’d known a girl in his past who’d gone through the same. But then Touko had told him other times that they were together, and Natsume’s attention was caught by things unexplained. And eventually, Shigeru had to admit the same.
That only escalated their worries. They were always concerned for him, for his safety, as any parent would be toward their child. And that was when they only had worldly things to be concerned about. Now, there was a whole other world that they couldn’t even fathom.
Touko had wept at the thought, as Shigeru comforted her. They’d wondered about what they could do, only to quickly realise that there wasn’t anything that they really could. Except wish for his safety, and warmly welcome him everytime he came home.
Soon after, they realised that Natsume wouldn’t want them to worry in that way. It was probably why he never told them. Not to keep them out, but to protect them. When Touko’s eyes had been red one day from weeping, Natsume had panicked. He had grown frantic and concerned- wondering what was wrong and if he could help. Somehow his worry had made her cry and laugh all the same. But she had felt better. Because he was still there. And she had felt bad for making him worry.
Every day he came back to them, so maybe he had his own guardian angel watching over him. And she only prayed that they continued to do so. That really made the couple feel better, knowing there was someone who could protect Natsume in ways they couldn’t. And so they made sure to do the best in all the areas they could.
Natsume came home a little later that day. Tree leaves tangled in his hair. Nyankichi looked much the same, and quite fussy.
Natsume appeared sheepish, as if he wanted to apologise for things beyond his control. And Touko couldn’t help it. She laughed. A sweet, melodious sound that washed over them as she gently plucked the leaves from Natsume’s hair.
“Welcome home, Takashi-kun!”
One for sorrow,
Two for joy,
Three for a girl,
Four for a boy,
Five for silver,
Six for gold,
Seven for a secret,
Never to be told.
Eight for a wish,
Nine for a kiss,
Ten for a bird,
You must not miss.
